This place is beautiful and special, was so sad to read the reviews as our whole group had a great time. Our steaks were cooked great, the lobsters were a huge let down, but overall we loved it. Shhh Come read this review... Sooo... This is a hotel but its also a restaurant amongst other things. When you walk upstairs you can see a view of the ocean where Taboo is located. The hostesses and our servers were extremely nice. We didnt have to wait for anything. I told the waiter I was vegan and he brought me a pita board on the house. I couldnt even eat the vegan risotto, I was already full. There is a dj in the middle of the pool and he played all types of music. They also have dancers in white to help lift the mood and get people to join in. There is another bar down where the beach is so you can definitely come with your swim attire on. read more

I visited Taboo on a Saturday evening with two friends. We made our reservation months in advance, so when we arrived, we were seated promptly. I highly recommend making a reservation because the restaurant was packed when we arrived, and even with a reservation, we were seated at a table at the edge of the restaurant (which is not where you want to be at a restaurant like this). The restaurant is located on the first floor of a hotel/resort, they picked a great location and built/decorated this restaurant perfectly. It is beautiful and the vibes are great. It's not too expensive, but the price you pay is well worth it - just for the experience alone. I ordered the vegan risotto and vegan burger, both of which were amazing! I ordered two items because I thought the plates would be tapas style (small) and boy was I wrong. Portions are HUGE, one plate is definitely enough for one person (and this is coming from someone who can EAT). Overall, this was an amazing experience. This is a good place to celebrate a birthday or special event. I recommend visiting the restaurant at night, fireworks are at 9:00PM. I'm docking a star because as we were eating, a conga line formed around the restaurant and our waiter repeatedly prompted us to join the line, sure enough, as soon as we did, he quickly cleared our table to prepare to seat the next party. Visited this location on a Wednesday from 5-9PM! It was pretty empty during our visit so unfortunately we weren't able to get the full experience. It was 8 of us and we were seated quickly and easily at a large sectional couch table which was perfect for the vibes we were looking for. I was still fairly full from my late lunch so I ordered their Vodka Rigatoni. It doesn't come with any meat. They don't offer any chicken at all. Just seafood and beef. The pasta was your average pasta that you can get from Cheesecake Factory. So nothing spectacular so I would recommend you order something else. My friends had the meatballs, steak, and patella. The patella was huge. It said it's for 2 but it looks like 3-4 women can definitely split it lol. They offered us pita bread with various cheese stuffed peppers. Those were SO good! I didn't get a drink but my friends were highly satisfied with their drinks. I did see other guests enjoying hookah with their meals as well. Taboo is the restaurant that services the pool at ME Cabo. Although the food is tasty and good quality for poolside eats, there were some issues with service. My group was there from Saturday to Saturday, and we didn't get ANY service until Monday, and this was bc we waved someone down. Mimi was very friendly and helpful. She continued to help us that day and the day after. She must've been off Wednesday bc we then had bad service AGAIN until Thursday, when Brandon and Glen helped us. All three were on top of their game and we appreciated their help, but the days they were not there, it was a nightmare trying to get service. We ended up buying our own wine, champagne, alcohol and just mixed it by the pool. No one cared. We saved money (drinks are SOOOO expensive - $20). I bet the service at the restaurant is good, but if you're sitting by the pool, good luck unless you are buying bottle service. The service staff are willing to accommodate anything you need before you even know you need it. The food was ok, I had the tacos, and amongst our table my family had the surf and turf, the fried fish, and the enchiladas. The enchiladas appeared to be the most popular dish at our table. This place is definitely the place to be for the CLUB VIBE, not necessarily the food or trying to have a conversation with anyone. I like this place because the entire place looks amazing, you're able to party within your table (classy way of "clubbing") & lots of sparklers EVERYWHERE. SERVICE: I've had mixed feelings about this. I've had heated discussions 2 times at this place. If you are not a guest at the hotel, you will be stopped before even entering the premises & have to show your reservation but it depends because my friend who didn't have the reservation email was able to get in without a problem. Then we had a fly in our drink & our friend told the person who gave it to her (who was wearing a hat) & she never got a replacement & they refused to take it off the bill because we didn't tell the "main" waiter. There's also a lot of yelling when ordering because the music is HELLA loud. AMBIANCE: like I said, the entire place is gorgeous but don't expect to have any conversations with friends without yelling "HUH? WHAT?" When we first got there, there was 3 different music styles playing because this place is also next to 2 different restaurants. So it's kind of a big ole BLAH but luckily later in the night, it was just TABOO music. The chairs on the table were really uncomfortable, you have to hunch over the table to eat your food so that part wasn't enjoyable. A lot of the good parts was the sparklers, the dancing & the whole restaurant participation in having a good time. So that was the plus. FOOD: the food was alright. We did family style since the "to share" portions are huge. Nothing too special but definitely some recommendations & things to avoid. -Colossal Octopus (yes! Has a bit of Smokey taste to it & it comes with 2 huge tentacles) -Lobster (yes! Very juicy & flavorful but also very expensive for not as much) -Salt Crusted Fish (meh, not as flavorful or memorable so you can probably skip this) -Spanish Paella (yes! This was on the saltier side for me but it was a table favorite) -Taboo Dessert Platter (HECK NO! We are a table of dessert lovers & NOBODY liked any of it. I'd recommend just getting an ice cream cone & tell them to put the sparklers on that lol) Overall, it was a great party spot but it also VERY expensive overall. I believe each shot is around $25. We originally came for the beach club but we were late so it didn't make sense to pay for the day pass but only spend one hour so we decided to go to the restaurant. It worked out pretty well because it's pretty much the same vibes everywhere and you can see the pool from where you're sitting in the restaurant. The food was good but just a heads up it's pretty expensive. They charge for water refills lol! The staff and everyone around us was friendly but there were times where we lost our server. Another thing to be wary of is the flies. Just be aware that since the restaurant is open there are a lot of flies especially around 4-5pm. It is located within the ME Cabo Hotel and is really fun. Very lively and energetic, we really enjoyed the upbeat atmosphere and the great music. It was very busy, but not so crowded that everyone is bumping into each other. There was plenty of seating available, and with the beautiful pool adjacent to it, the view was great as well.
