Every single plant -- about 15 -- that I've bought here in the last year has been infected or infested with bugs. It's very overpriced for what you're getting, especially with herb plants. I love coming to Sunset Nursery! People usually stroll around nursery but during COVID the staff here are doing a very good job of crowd controlling the place. The line area is also marked 6 ft for social distance. There are citrus trees full size and dwarf size, a variety of plants and succulents, a big selection of pots, and gardening tools and supplies. They even have unique citrus like blood orange (which I have not seen). I make sure I pop into their super lush greenhouse- what a cool space! During my visits there, I've purchased plants, succulents, pots, and soil. All their plants look so healthy and shoppable. PARKING: There is a tiny lot in front of the nursery that typically full, a shared lot with next door, and street parking. PRICE: The prices are reasonable. SERVICE: The staff there is friendly and helpful. On my first visit, they potted the Golden Pothos in the pot so all I had to do was hang the macrame by my front door when I got home. I've also seen them help customers to their car, even if it was across or down the street. I've been here a couple times now and will definitely be back! I've visited a few nursery's in the area and Sunset Nursery is the best! They have an amazing selection of plants AND pots along with gardening supplies like bug sprays and watering cans. It's a one-stop-shop making it super easy and convenient. Customer service is awesome! I had called on 4th of July weekend to see if they would be open and if they had specific plants I was looking for. The person who helped me on the phone was courteous and helpful so I dropped in the next day. Once I got there I asked someone for help locating the plants I wanted and he took the time to walked me over to each plant. The cherry on top was that they offer to pot your plant when you buy a plant and pot!! I think they have a bigger selection of houseplants but also have outdoor plants, succulents, and cactus! If you're looking for a trendy nursery then this is the place for you. It's a pretty small place, but if you're just looking for a plant or something small then this place may be okay for you. It's definitely no Home Depot as far a depth in product. I felt out of place here since the shoppers there were petty snobby. The helpers there are very nice though and will be able to answer any of your questions. Prices are on the higher side. Buyers beware: Really uncomfortable situation today when I found pests in a snake plant and brought it up to the staff's attention (thinking they may do something about it since plants are pricey) . I found Sunset Nursery via Instagram tags from some classmates I follow and thought it'd be a great place to take my close friend, who is in loveeee with plants. As someone who isn't into plants and who couldn't keep her her bean plant alive in kindergarten, I had to do extensive research (through Yelp ofc) to make sure Sunset Nursery was worth the LA traffic and was indeed cooler than local nurseries in Long Beach. Judging from the reactions of my friend, it was indeed. Massive selection of plants spanning rows and rows and sections and sections. We came with one hour before closing time and didn't have enough time to carefully browse the collection. The plants were reasonably priced, and there were some really interesting plants I've never seen anywhere before. My friend and I picked out two cute and reasonably priced pots for our new plants paid. The employee offered to pot our plants for us free of charge! He even offered to put rocks into the pot so it'll look a little more put together. the employees were extremely nice, funny, and knowledgeable with the nursery and all things plant. This nursery has so much packed in such a seemingly small property, right next to the Dell taco. There's plenty of parking just pull behind the Dell taco. I love coming here because the staff are all so friendly and so knowledgeable and Can help you out with anything you need. I've come here multiple times over the last few months to pick up vegetables, fruit plants, pots, soil, compost starter... You name if they have it! I appreciate this place and I'm thankful that a small business that is so beneficial to the community is doing well during this pandemic. Parking: Street parking is available. When I parked on the street and came out to put coins in my meter, one of the workers called out to me. He told me to park inside their structure, in a little section because it was safer. I instantly liked this place when this happened. Thanks for saving me some chump change and making my life easier! I want to like this place, I live nearby. I've been there three times. First time, fine, standard experience. Second time I was there with my toddler and was treated like dirt not by the staff but by other customers. There were people who turned up their noses at me, and scuffed, like how dare you enter society, you should be at home in isolation with that child. The third time I drove around looking for parking and finally pulled into a spot labeled "Customer Parking Only" and was shooed away by someone on staff. I have a baby in the car and so I say, "Okay can you recommend where I can park?" and the guy tells me to park in the spot labeled "Children's Hospital Staff Only" Nope. Prices aren't the cheapest but the quality is there. They have a good number of staff to assist you. Parking can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. GREAT SELECTION OF SUCCULENTS! Visited Sunset Nursery a few time and here are my thoughts: * HUGEEE SELECTION of rare succulents. Almost seems like it may be their specialty if you are a rare succulent collector. * Healthy plants at decent prices. * Helpful staff, the female staff member who helped us was very knowledgeable and also gave us a few cuttings that fell off some plants while cleaning up. * Large selection of plant supplies and pots. We get all our terra cotta pots from here. * Great outdoor plant selection as well, we don't usually buy these since we live in an apartment but they have a very impressive area for that as well. Parking is a little challenging but if you go on a weekday you can find it fairly easily. The line to get in moves very fast and there's plenty of space to browse. Fantastic nursery! They have so, so many plants of all kinds and sizes. They've got all sorts of outdoor, indoor, herbs, and vegetable plants. We picked up a nice pot and an air plant we had been hunting for. Good, reasonable prices all around. (I realized I had paid 2x the price for a plant that I had gotten somewhere else) . There was a line (maybe about 20 minute wait) on Saturday afternoon. The Del taco parking lot was full so we had to find street parking nearby (free on Sundays!). This place is my go-to nursery. Most staff is nice and very knowledgeable. I have about 50 plants at home and am constantly researching online about plants. But the advise that I get at Sunset Nursery is actually most helpful. One of the employees here (he is Asian and usually at the counter in the back) is a serious master of plants and I don't think there is anything he doesn't know! On top of that, they can repot plants at the time of purchase if the soil isn't in the best shape, they have a big selection of pots and their prices are great. Sometimes I visit Micky Hagitey in West Hollywood as well. They have a better price on most plants, but I definitely recommend Sunset over MH especially if you are new to plants because MH employees don't know much about anything (potting, soil etc) and often misdirect you on how to take care of plants. Parking could be a bit difficult on the weekend. They have a few parking spots on the property but they are always taken. Street parkings are taken as well most of the time so I always park my car at the little mall right in front of the nursery, Del Taco or McDonald's around the corner. And be ready to wait in line for half an hour or more on the weekend. The weekdays are very easy though - no line, no parking issue throughout the day. read more

I spent $400 on a beautiful fiddle leaf plant. I do not have a green thumb, and admitted that. Here I thought I was harvesting genuine conversation with someone who knew a lot about the skill, in reality I put a huge target on my back and misled. I was asking a million questions while I was in the store, and they were all being answered, or so I thought, so at the time I was grateful. Fun fact: don't water your fiddle leaf plant "every other day" because it will die in a month's time. So bummed. Not only was it a giant waste of time, money, was insulting to be feed such incorrect information, but it also left a bad taste in my mouth for pseudo gardening. read more

They have a large pottery selection of all shapes, sizes and colors at competitive prices....some "specials" too that I found super cheap. The employees were incredibly friendly and helpful and gave us a box to carry our selected pants and pots and I'd here them helping and laughing with other customers. They have a small parking lot in front of the business but during this time, it looks like they're using it for pick up only. There is metered parking in the area. I came around noon and didn't have a problem finding a spot. My only complaint, and I know its probably not an easy find for them as its been an issue at every garden shop that sells bonsai pots, but I can never find a plate that goes underneath the pot. I know bonsais are usually outdoors, but I do enjoy the uniqueness of them for indoor plants. read more

I'm a new plant mom and Sunset Nursery was one of the many nurseries I Googled. I love their website. It was so simple to see their inventory. Due to Covid your not able to shop in the store. I'm happy that the owner is making sure their employees are safe. I place an order and went to the nursery for pickup. They have 6 feet markings to ensure during pickup that everyone continues to social distance. Even though everyone was wearing mask I felt so safe because I have asthma and respiratory problems.
