This place is great! The food is outstanding! They have unique options and dishes throughout the menu. The owners are very outgoing and hospitable and they are truly excited let you taste and try everything they have, including booze. They go above and beyond. I brought my mother here once and they made us a feast, including a variety of items and seafood dishes that were not even listed on the menu. Delicious! Red carpet treatment... My family decided to try this restaurant despite never having had it recommended. I'm so glad that we did! Everything was amazing and absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and lovely. Had a little issue with the door getting in the actual restaurant as my mother is in a wheelchair so if that is a concern for you then definitely make sure you measure your wheelchair. Great pho for the price. Very good pho portion and the broth tasted great. I got the rare beef pho. We also got a couple appetizers. The Cevapcici spring rolls are a must (number 1 on the menu). This place is amazing!!!! Some of the best pho I've had in the city (and i've had a lot). The place always has a great playlist going of older rock songs (think Beatles, Cream, etc). I almost hesitate to tell you how good this place is. They Used to be located far north on Western Avenue in a nondescript storefront. Now, on Clark, just North of Diversy, by the Century Mall. Absolutely, positively, the best Pho ever, Vietnam included. The mussels with "yummy" sauce are indescribably tasty (especially when paired with the home made French bread). Spring rolls are on point as well. Avoid the weak pours on the hard alcohol, Stick with the affordably priced beer or wine. This is a quirky neighborhood place with good food and a full bar. I say quirky because the owners are Vietnamese and Eastern European. The food is less of a fusion and more of a simple mix of cuisines, which by the way is fine. They don't try to experiment with flavors in an overcomplicated way but rather make things available that they like. So you can order a steamed rice dish with a Yugoslavian sausage on the side. They make a really decent Pho (Vietnamese soup) and I also love their Vietnamese crepes which are a little more like a really thin omelet than a traditional French crepe. Very comfortable dining room which I would call casual/fancy. Quiet clean and well lit. Perfect for a moderate priced date night or a small family get together. Sunset pho cafe offers the best Vietnamese's pho in Chicago and their beef pho and seafood pho is amazing. I went to the store almost every week before Covid. The owners are a super nice Couple. When I went to pick up my pho yesterday it rained very heavily and I could not call a Lyft. The owner offers me a ride home. My family and I went to Sunset Pho Caffe for dinner a few weeks ago. It was our last day in Chicago and it was truly the best end to our vacation. All the dishes we got were delicious - especially the sunset beef salad, lemongrass pho, cevapcici, and jumbo shrimp with yummy sauce! Sunset Pho is my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I like many in the Uptown area, but they are all very similar as far as their menu goes. Sunset pho is something different as they feature a Croatian flare to the cuisine. The cevapcici spring rolls are a staple there, as well as their Pho Ga (chicken pho). They have a full bar as well, so you can grab a drink while you dine. They also have an outdoor seating area perfect for summer outdoor dining. The staff and owners are very friendly and welcoming. Looks, there's not a lot to say - it's delicious, it's good value, and it's a local restaurant worth supporting. It's really a no-brainer. Lincoln Park's Vietnamese options are far and few between - Sunset definitely fills this void! The Bun (noodle salads) are delicious - if you're feeling meaty, add a cevapi (a sort of Baltic sausage) to your order. They also make their own Nuoc Cham sauce, and it's bloody delicious - just the right balance of spice, sweet, and sour. Plus, the beers are cold and plentiful, and service is quick and pleasant. All I can say is WOW!! My expectations were totally surpassed! What an amazing place. For Lakeview, I wasn't expecting as hearty or as delicious a bowl of pho, but that is what we got. My husband and I both got the Sunset Special and wasn't disappointed! Out of all the meats in it I think I liked the rare beef the best so I'm going to do that next time, but we both spent a good 15 minutes just slurping away, no words necessary. The ambiance was cute and cozy and I'm glad we were able to just walk in without a reservation. The owner came by the table to offer us shots of a Yugoslavian liquor, which was a homey close to the night. We CANNOT stop ordering delivery from this place... it is outstanding, especially on cold, snowy evenings. I'm sure it is difficult to pack up all the fresh ingredients and keep the liquids hot for delivery, but somehow they manage to do it. We love ordering from Sunset Pho. My only (small) critique is that the noodle-to-protein ratio leans a bit too far to the noodle side. (But I'm no expert in Pho - maybe that's normal?) Lots of fresh veggies, though! He runs the front end operations and she cooks in the kitchen with her mother. The Pho's broth is the best I've ever had, and they even have a vegan broth for non-carnivores. Ordered 2 pork chop combination rice, BUT there are two favor of pork chop. Like one is marinated, one is NO. It is very dry and no favor. It seem to be fried and grilled little bit. The owners are a married couple from these respective cultures, and the flavors they bring together is excellent. I ordered the traditional Vietnamese spring rolls with a twist - the meat was Ćevapčići, a type of kebab. It was AMAZING. Also ordered their Sunset Pho (combination meat) and it was delicious. Pricey but portions are generous and service is great.
