    Hog wings are awesome!

The food and service were great. We rented a cabana and our server was Jackie. She was attentive and made sure our drinks never went dry. She went above and beyond and got us a bottle of wine from one of the other restaurants. I would definitely recommend the cabana if you are going to have a few drinks and some food at the pool. We had the sea bass and the ribeye sandwich. They were great and the fries are awesome!

I take no pause in saying this was the best dinner I've ever had. I have been to other AAA Five…read moreDiamond restaurants and this one so far holds my top spot. The food was just insanely delicious and the service was amazing. I mean ending the night with that candy cart is just genius. It's pretty low cost for the restaurant but such a fun photo opp and nostalgic box to take home. This was probably the most expensive meal I've ever had, so I'm also really glad it was the best. Starting with the bread service the olive oil, honey, and butter were amazing. It was hard to restrain myself from eating a ton of it. The corn custard, scallops, and pierogi were delicious, but that wagyu beef, so freaking delicious. It came with a steak sauce where you mix the quail egg into it. Yum! It was just the best beef dish I have ever had. I can say enough good things about it. The kombucha pallet cleanser was also adorable before dessert. They think so much about the fun and whimsy of the presentation here, it just makes it that much more memorable. The posset for dessert, (their signature dessert) was beautiful and delicious as well. The wine pairing was spot on and I enjoyed every glass. The champagne tasting they also offer was pretty tempting, but also a bit more pricey than what I needed to tack on to an already expensive bill. My only complaint was the $10 small cup of coffee. Like they could have at least left the pot on the table. It just felt a little overkill to me when you already are spending $350 on the meal, maybe include the coffee. The singer was also a lovely touch to the meal. She had a beautiful voice and could sing everything from pop songs to opera. Super impressive! I really want to head back here with my husband, it is a dining experience you will never forget!

I spent a long day tooling around the Laurel Highlands and wanted to get back to Pittsburgh before…read moredark. However, since I was touring a few Frank Lloyd Wright houses, I had not eaten since my early morning continental breakfast at the Comfort Inn in Connellsville. Mindlessly following the Google Maps directions, I arrived in a town called Indian Head and didn't have any expectations about what I'd find in this family-friendly roadside diner. Without hesitation, I ordered the $13.99 Grilled Chicken Salad. I was quite impressed with what arrived. There were huge pieces of grilled chicken breast, tender and moist, with cucumber, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, onions, beets, shredded cheddar, and a pickled egg with ranch dressing on the side (Photo 9). Sounds basic, I know, but it was hearty, fresh, and genuinely satisfying. Midway through my salad, a plate of fries arrived (Photo 10). I wasn't expecting it, but the server apologized for the delay. I only noticed later that the fries were mentioned in the menu. I certainly didn't mind because they were hot, tasty, and not at all greasy. Even though I was getting full and kinda anxious to get going, I was rather hypnotized by the refrigerator of freshly made pies. I just couldn't help myself and ordered a $4.29 slice of Banana Meringue Pie (Photo 8). I don't think I've had homemade pie that good since gorging at Valois back in my olden grad school days in the South Side of Chicago. What a nice surprise to have such a delicious square meal in a place called Indian Head. FOOD - 5 stars..tasty, reasonably priced diner fare exceeded my expectations AMBIANCE - 4 stars...clean and spacious diner SERVICE - 5 stars...friendly server made a big difference TOTAL - 5 stars...if I'm ever in western Pennsylvania, I'd be back RELATED - Exploring the Pittsburgh area? For brunch I got the Cajun shrimp avocado toast and I will be thinking about it for weeks to come. So, so flavorful. As always, the staff was super thoughtful and went over everything with us and the atmosphere was great - can't beat it.

Our server was also wonderful and honestly one of the highlights of the night. That said, the food experience was a bit disappointing, especially for the price point. The Miyabi Maki sounded amazing on paper with lobster, wagyu, and caviar, but the caviar tasted overly fishy and didn't seem very fresh. The octopus was dry, and some of the dishes felt too rice-heavy, including the sushi and even the amuse-bouche. The sea bass was probably our favorite dish flavor-wise, although the rice underneath seemed undercooked. Service timing was also quite slow -- we were there for over two hours despite the restaurant not being busy, and it took almost 50 minutes for the first course to arrive. Again don't think it's the server's fault but when the food was available Overall, we really wanted to love this place and are hoping it may have just been an off night, because the setting and hospitality definitely have a lot of potential.
