The farm needs to have separate cash registers for those who want to pick their own produce and those who want to buy already picked produce from the store. I was ready to make my purchase of four ears and corn and a loaf of bread when four elderly sisters and their even more elderly aunt came in to prepay before picking blueberries. They couldn't decide who wanted to actually pick berries and who wouldn't. The cashier rang the old biddies up a couple of times and they changed their minds time and time again regarding who would pick berries while the line of those ready to buy produce from the store got longer. The cashier never once suggested to the women that they step aside to decide who would pick berries, so I left to buy my corn and bread from Roche Brothers around the corner. I would've given this place 5 stars, but I took one off because of how expensive everything is. Overall, it was a fun day with my son--- he loved everything. We got the 20lb bag to pick our own apples, sundaes, two pumpkins and a nice hanging mum plant. The $2 fee to enter the orchard is ridiculous though--- especially considering the bag was $40 and you walk into the orchard. Walking is fine, but how can you charge people extra for that when they've already paid to fill a bag with apples??? Walking should always be free, right??? Since I was a kid, I've been going to Berlin Orchards, but I live on the South Shore, so it's a bit far away (it takes over an hour to get there). We got to Sunshine Farm in about 35-40 minutes, so that was good. read more

After reading some of the reviews, I was a little nervous, but it was totally fine! I just had ice cream. 2 small cups came to $7.50 which I thought was high, but they really do pack a lot into that styrofoam cup. Outdoor picnic tables are nice. The different flavors of ice cream they have are awesome. The people ahead of us ordered banana splits...I don't know the price of those, but they looked amazing. read more

Enjoyed picking blueberries with my kids today. While there were lots of unripe blueberries, there were still more than enough ripe ones for picking. There was a picking fee ($2.00/person) but everywhere else I've picked, I've been charged that or more. I liked that you paid for the blueberries based on their weight rather than paying a set price for the bucket itself (otherwise I feel like I have to force my family to pick until it's full to get our money's worth). Can't comment on anything else besides blueberries since that was the goal of our trip today. I like that this place didn't have a lot of bells and whistles, we were able to just focus on the picking and then move on to our next adventure. Think I'll have to go back sometime to try the ice cream. read more

This place is really great! I miss the old farmstand (breakfast etc) but they have turned it around and made it beautiful. Lot's of stuff to chose from esp during seasonal hours. They have fresh baked breads and produce and beautiful flowers. A little pricey but I'd chose this place over the other farm in town! read more

The strawberries were lovely and the service was friendly. The farm opens for visitors at 9 every day and ice cream serves at noon. You can drive or take a nice walk through the farm to the strawberry fields. All in all the ice cream and strawberries make for a nice outing even if the ice cream is not theirs. Also a nice selection of veggies in their farm store. If you can make it during the week to avoid the crazy of strawberry season weekends - its worth it. read more

I usually go to this place for ice cream since it is close by. They have a good selection of flavors and ice cream is good too. Very nice view to look at while you're eating ice cream. I went tonight, and honestly the service was extremely slow... Also I got a root beer float and there was a ton of ice cubes / crushed ice in it ? It was literally the worst and most difficult to enjoy root beer float I've ever had. Since I've been there a bunch of times, and most times everything is great, I'll give this place four stars. But seriously on a hot weekend afternoon, maybe more than two windows should be open ? Also I must add, as of recent , the service is EXTREMELY slow. Unfortunately had a very bad experience this morning while picking blueberries. We paid for two containers (I understand it's Covid policy to require this as my son is 3). Unfortunately we didn't stay longer than ten minutes because the bird noise recordings were so loud my pre schooler wouldn't uncover his ears and actually wanted to be carried because he was afraid of the sounds. I tried to make it fun to no avail. My friend who joined us with her ten year old called to see if the manager could turn the volume down or turn off the recordings for even ten mins just so we could pick and leave. She was told they would check. Nothing changed so we had to leave. I spoke with the manager on the way out to let her know our situation. I was told they couldn't volume control the recording nor could they shut it due to birds. Understandable. But at least they could have reimbursed an empty container. Was told they would not issue a refund per policy. It needed up being a dollar a blueberry for us that morning. Pricey morning and awful handling of what could have been an easy fix. We will not be returning for any reason after the experience. read more

Went here to pick strawberries. Two containers for $7 - not bad at all. The best part is this is only 15-20 miles from Boston, yet you feel worlds away. A great little escape. Worth the trip. I will hit this place up in late summer when the vegetables are harvested. read more

It's been a while since I've been to Sunshine Farm and now I remember why. I honestly don't like giving bad reviews because everyone has an "off" day, but I believe this is more than an off day at the farm....I went there with my wife yesterday to get ice cream and check out the farm stand. First thing I noticed is the prices compared to other quality ice cream places. But I thought maybe their ice cream is worth it?? My wife got the butter pecan in a dish with a waffle cone on top. It was already soupy when she got it and continued to melt while she tried to eat it. There were no pecans at all and so not worth it. I got a hot fudge vanilla sundae. The hot fudge tasted like chocolate sauce you squeeze out of a bottle. We didn't even finish half and threw the rest away. Not good at any price, but if you are going to charge a premium for your ice cream then it should look and taste amazing. Then we went into the farm stand produce store. Fruit flies everywhere and crawling all over the tomatoes. All the produce looked dirty and very unappetizing. I would never buy anything there. Note to the owners.....Read these reviews and you'll see the consistency in the complaints people have. Address them. I would love to see this place do well and stay in business for years to come. read more

It will always be Sunshine Dairy to me. I grew up nearby, I hung out here as a kid, and my first job ever was making ice cream in the dairy back in the mid 70s. Now the cows and the dairy are gone, but the same family (next generation) is here running the farm. I don't make it back here as often as I should, but I'm here at the green houses every spring to get my garden plants, they have everything, and plenty of it, cheaper and healthier than you'll find anywhere else. I hate missing the Strawberry Festival, it's a real event, and what they've done with the farm stand itself is unbelievable, I've never seen anything like it, it's better than anything you see out in western Mass where the bigger farms are. Local honey! Pies baked with berries picked on the farm, preserves, and the ice cream, best ever! Of course I'm biased because I love the family and I love seeing the children of my former co-workers working there. There is a lot of love that goes into making this place run, and it really shows. read more

This is my favorite place for ice cream EVER! nothing is better than their strawberry flavor ice cream made with fresh strawberries from their back yard. They have so many flavors and toppings to choose from! They also have nice picnic style tables to sit so that you can enjoy your ice cream. One thing that i would recommend for them to improve on is their chocolate syrup... but that's it. read more

Server was downright rude. Refused to give us more than two small Dixie cups of ice water. When I offered to pay, she condescended to provide two more Dixie cups of water (without ice) and charged me $2 for the honor. And this came after I volunteered to pay for something she had forgotten to charge us for! Rude rude rude. There are too many other places with far better service. read more

For a second year in a row, unfriendly and unhelpful people in the store. I called and found out that they closed at 4pm, we arrived at 3 and were told the field was closed. When I suggested it would have been helpful to know before driving 20 min to get there -- after having been told it was open -- I just got a shrug and told "the boss said to close it." No apologies, no grace, no helpfulness. A few of the other people we crossed paths with on the staff were nice, but not the front line in the store. There is a black cloud over Sunshine Farm. This past summer my friend and I made the mistake of signing up for the CSA offered at Sunshine Farm. I have joined a CSA before so I was super excited. Although we should have read the pamphlet more closely we discovered that they were less than honest about what their CSA entailed. Their CSA offered weekly shares of fruit and vegetables with a few instances during which you would be responsible for picking your own. The hours for pick up the CSA and picking your own are extremely limited so unless you are working from home or you are fortunate enough to be a stay at home parent I am not sure when you would be able to get there. We were also told that the pick your own portion would dwindle as the CSA progressed. NOT. I have new found respect for migrant workers and slaves. There is nothing that compares with bending over in a cloudless sky in 85 - 90 degree heat with sweat burning your eyes and your clothing stuck to your body. One week I went to pick my own and once I arrived I was told that the fruit was not ready for picking. You would have thought they would be courteous enough to send out an email to let shareholders know, wouldn't you? They did not. One week my friend was unable to pick up her share on her allotted day. I understand that it is printed in the brochure that you cannot switch days but she had hoped that they could make an exception. NOPE. You just miss out and forfeit your share. Lastly, they make no effort to present the vegetables in an appetizing manner. I do not expect them to wash or scrub my vegetables for me, but I also would have hoped they would not be caked in mud and sand. I suggest you find another place from which to buy a CSA. There are many around Freedom Food Farm, Land Sakes just to name a couple. But stay away from here. Yikes. read more
