The deli isn't fancy but they have an excellent variety of choices!

Sunshine Foods isn't the nicest grocery store ever, but it sure is well stocked! This is a must-visit when in the Napa Valley, as it has pretty much everything you need. I love the small selection of Napa souvenirs like local soaps, handmade chocolates, and photography cards from local artists, and they have a surprisingly well curated liquor and wine selection. The deli is a thing of beauty, with all sorts of prepared salads (jalapeno macaroni salad, fruit salads, shrimp salad, etc.). They have sandwiches that are ready to grab and go. Individual cheese trays and myriad charcuterie choies are offered too, making this a one-stop shop for your wine country picnic! I like to stop in on my first day in town and grab a bouquet of flowers for my hotel room. It's the little things that matter! The employees are always friendly and helpful, too, which is so important. I like that they are not aloof to tourists, and I appreciate that. Because this is wine country, the prices are high, so be prepared to pay a substantial markup for most everything on the shelves. Bring your wallet, and know that this is a really fun place to browse. I love grocery stores, and this has consistently remained one of my favorites over the years.

This is a beautiful grocery market! I came here to pick up sandwiches to have after a wine tasting and I'm so glad I did! I tried the Tuscan which was sopressata, asiago and vinaigrette on a baguette and the Sioux-Z-Wow which was grilled chicken and Brie on a baguette. Both were delicious but my favorite was the Tuscan. It had such high quality sopressata and was just perfect for after a wine tasting. For ordering sandwiches, I called 20 minutes ahead and the sandwiches were ready for pick up. In addition to sandwiches this market has nice salads, desserts and plenty of other items available that you could need for the perfect picnic.

Just when I thought Sunshine was all that and a slice of bread I realized they sell Uncle Eddie's eggs also!!! we had picked up some of these eggs in Healdsburg and well now we are HOOKED! So on top of EVERYTHING else that Sunshine foods does right ....add to it the BEST eggs and as always the nicest staff around! Love love this market!!!

Very cute local supermarket with hard working and friendly people. Large private parking lot. One downside is that construction workers sometimes place large orders at the deli, and you can be waiting a very long time for a single sandwich.

    Caprese Sandwich + Truffle Ham

This review is solely for the deli! They have such a wide variety of meats and cheeses to choose from! You can either make your own custom sandwich or choose from their menu. Everything is fresh and made to order. I'm a truffle lover and they have a truffle ham option, which I never knew existed until this market. So thankful I tried this place! My all-time favorite is the caprese sandwich with truffle ham added and all the extra toppings! They only charge extra for avocado or bacon, all the other toppings are included. All their sandwiches are reasonably priced, especially for the area! Look how beautifully made my sandwich was, stacked so perfectly! Shoutout to whomever made my sandwich that day.

Good Day Sunshine. We let the sunshine in every time we're in Napa. It's a no fills market with a lot of great food and beverage options. Upon entering, you see the massive cheese case with a wide variety of high-end cheeses. I like about all cheeses, including bleu, so picking out a few cheese options for a future cheese and cracker plate was not a problem. They also have Cowgirl Creamery options. They also have an adjacent sizable olive bar. There are plenty of wine, beer and spirits if that's your thing. It's a real supermarket so has just about everything. They also make fresh juiced orange juice which is sweet and delicious. If you want specialty foods, there isn't a Whole Foods nearby and Sunshine is just as good if not better.

It's the only place I know that has white sharp cheddar cheese, which I love on sandwiches, and I always get their Guini juice on the side. That said, I was a bit taken aback by the pricing on my most recent visit. I completely understand that prices go up, but my veggie sandwich was listed at $13.75 and I was charged $17.75. It turns out certain breads are an upcharge, but that wasn't communicated--I only realized after I had already paid. I also asked for pepperoncini and was charged $3, even though it's supposed to be $1.75. On top of that, it looks like I was charged for cucumbers, even though they're listed as part of the vegetarian sandwich, which feels a bit misleading. I've never had this issue before, so next time I'll definitely double-check pricing or order online since that's always been accurate for me. I still enjoy the food, just wish pricing and add-ons were more clearly communicated.

I wanted to try both places but don't plan to visit the area in the near future, so I ordered from their online stores. From Woodhouse Chocolate, I ordered two dark chocolate almond bars and one dark chocolate hazelnut bar. The online ordering process was quick and easy. The chocolate bars arrived several days later packed in ice and bubble wrap inside a styrofoam cooler. So thoughtful and nice. The bars were large and tasted delicious. The almond bars had a touch of bitterness, as expected from dark chocolate, and could have used a few more almonds in it. The hazelnut bar had no bitterness and plenty of nuts. It was perfection. I agree they have some of the best chocolate in California. I've already placed a second order for more.

I absolutely loved this place and my only regret is that we did not have more money to buy more we will definitely be visiting this place again whenever we pass through the Napa Valley.

(To be real, I wanted a burger from Gott's, but they weren't open yet.) The market was on the smaller side, with maybe about twenty active booths. It was much smaller than the farmers markets I'm used to in the Sacramento area, but much larger than the 4-booth market in Yosemite Valley. The best decision I made was ordering a ham and Swiss croissant from the pastry booth. Sadly, I don't remember the name of the booth, but it was the best croissant I've ever had in my life. (I think it was West Won Bread, unless it was Patisserie Angelica Sebastopol.) A slightly less wise decision was ordering the strawberry shortcake from the cooking school. The student, who did not give off any kind of competent vibe, whispered to the order-taker, "How do I make that?" She quickly recited, "biscuit, whipped cream, lemon curd, berries." I mean, the photo really speaks for itself. There was less than like two tablespoons worth of chopped berries, and the top of the biscuit was not covered in curd. The flavor was all there, but the presentation and portion sizes were not. Then again, this was a cooking school, so maybe some mistakes are to be expected. I wouldn't have ordered from them if I wasn't willing to take the risk. Even though this is a small market, the quality of the vendors is on the supremely artisan side. Definitely worth stopping by for a bite to eat if you're in the area. (Also a great brunch option.)
