The reason for 3 stars is the room cleanliness fell short. Disgusting long dark hair everywhere on the floor and bathtub. The floors were dirty. Needed to be mopped. The shower wall was dirty and I found gum stuck to the head board. They definitely need to get a better cleaning service. Would I stay again? Probably not. It's more of a spot to sleep one night and be on your way. I definitely wouldn't want to hang out in the room other than to sleep, not cozy at all. Woke up to multiple text messages to my phone on 2 of the three mornings I was there regarding an uber ride they ordered for me to take me to a sales presentation at a different Worldmark timeshare I was coerced into accepting at check in in order to just be able to get to my room. I cancelled the next morning more than 45 minutes before the sales presentation, but they subsequently ordered an uber for me anyway. The 2nd morning I woke up to 6 text messages for an uber to a sales presentation I never agreed to. In addition, parking for owners or guests is $25 a day.

I just couldn't get comfortable and although I was happy to be in SD, I was looking forward to leaving this room and sleeping in my own. First I'll say that our initial impression was good. The building exterior was nice. The staff was very friendly, that was a positive in this experience - everyone went above and beyond to be helpful. Parking is very expensive at $25/day, but you can park on the street for free. Immediately upon entering the lobby you feel like you've stepped back a century or two. Some of the furnishing is nice - like the arm chairs in the lobby and the benches in the hallway, but overall it felt old. A day or two in I realized it is a historical site so that made a little more sense. When I stepped in the studio I immediately felt regret. The room itself isn't in horrible shape, but the furniture definitely needs replacing, the bathroom and sink area need updating and it wouldn't hurt to spruce up the kitchen too. The headboard had a Tommy Bahama vibe, it wasn't horrible, but not my style either. There was a DVD player in the room (and DVDs for rent downstairs), the sink and toilet are so low I wondered if the room was accessible (but it had a tub so I don't think so) and the carpet smelled like the feet of an athlete. I loved the drapes though. It had a small kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator and hot plate for convenience. That was nice. Also you could go up to the rooftop and enjoy a beverage while taking in views of downtown. There are washers and dryers in the laundry, which was very nice. There is a small fitness center, a pool table, hot coffee and a market if you need to grab a snack. I think this building has lots of potential. Just bringing the furniture up to date would do wonders! Also a few more needed cosmetic changes in the lobby and bathrooms. I hope this is considered at some point in the future. When you travel and stay in a timeshare like this, it should feel like a home away from home.
