I consider Ulupi and Navin Patel's small family health food store to be the best in Scacramento. I have gone here for decades. I always get their full attention, and either of them can recommend a vitamin or supplement or food which is best suited for my needs, as I am gluten sensitive. And I find their products are fresh, even though packaged. Although they are very modest, with just two employees in the store, each of them actually has a PhD in the sciences. Navin's uncle is my retinal surgeon and their daughter graduated chiropractic school. This is a very knowledgeable couple from a family with a depth of knowledge about health. If you want a personal, small quiet health food store, this is it. I do travel across town to come here now that I have moved, as they just come up with the brand and type of health food which gives me the best result. Their discounted prices are better than the prices of other stores' sale prices, I was surprised to see, after paying more elsewhere on sale. They also carry excellent Indian spices, and Ulupi helps me with learning to cook the wonderful Indian food and Avurvedic cooking. But, they do carry dried goods, bulk nuts, snacks, soy cheese, flax oils and nutritionals (vitamins & herbs). I met Ulupi and Navin Patel at an event outside of the store and think they are amazing people with a wealth of knowledge unheard of in the Natural Foods Health Store arena. They are a bit further from where I'm used to shopping, so it took several years for me to visit their store, but I am really impressed with their supplement, beauty supply and makeup sections. Additionally, they have a large amount of staple items, like split mung beans, that aren't available anywhere else and a great selection of Indian spices. I would enjoy having more gluten free flour and bread options, but know I can special order things that aren't on the shelf. I imagine that if large amounts of people special ordered gluten free products at this location, then they would start carrying more perishable gluten free options. They're that kind of a store. Sunshine Market is definitely a place I'd shop and support over and over again.
