Build Your Own Veggie Burger

Sunswick is a corner tavern serving cold beer and hot meals. The bar has many seats and the beverage options run the gamut. Food skews American: burgers, fries, cheese sticks, tacos, nachos, soups, salads, etc. The eats have been tasty the few times I've dined here; tots poutine are a gluttonous treat and the cheeseburger sliders are big and ideal for sharing. The ambiance is pleasant. It's a clean establishment with a variety of tables and booths including high-tops by the front windows that, on a recent Saturday afternoon, were adorned with decorative Oktoberfest-patterned runners. The bartenders are polite and professional, usually running the show for the whole front of house, so you may wish to order at the bar and receive your drinks from across the counter.

Chicken quesadilla

DELIVERY REVIEW -- I would honestly give this place more like a 3.5 since some things have been amazing like their chicken quesadilla that has a nice crispy tortilla and their breakfast burrito, but then there has been a really bad miss with their Mexican cactus salad (so soggy and bland). Since that's out of the way, I will say, this is the second or third time I've gotten their quesadilla and it's been ON POINT every time. The chicken and peppers inside are flavorful, the salsa they give with it is delicious, and their guac has actual chunks of avocado in it unlike other places that most likely just got store bought guac. Honestly one of my favorite places for a quesadilla. It is always still warm when I get it too and the top is still crispy. I've also been a fan of their boneless chicken wings and my fiancé is the breakfast burrito fan. So honestly, really good place for more standard bar food, just don't order a salad from here.

We went all the way to Sunswick from my neck of the woods by Ditmars just to try their Ahi Tuna burger because my boyfriend raves about how out of this world delicious it is. Unfortunately, our server told us that it was taken off of their menu a few month's ago since it wasn't popular enough?! Please bring it back, and if not then please remove it from the actual menu because it is misleading. We opted for Quesadilla's and they were both very delicious! We had the hanger steak quesadilla, and the mushroom and epazote quesadilla - wow! It was very fresh and the tortilla was nice and crispy, and you get a small side of guac, sour cream, and a salsa. Definitely a must try, and even though my feelings are hurt about the Ahi Tuna Burger, you've won me with your delicious quesadilla's and we will definitely return! Cheers and good eats!

I've been here 4 times at different times of the day and was never disappointed! The Latino gentleman that work the night shift is super cool!! The steak quesadillas and the calamari is AWESOME!!! I freak'n love this place. Great work guys.

Chicken sandwich

Overall was just ok, seems perhaps to be a bit hit or miss on different items. Appreciate the breadth of the menu and the fact that items are fairly priced. Chicken was good. Waffle fries weren't good, stale and chewy. The veggie breakfast burrito was fine, the veggies are stir/pan fried that taste like leftovers, versus fresh with any crisp left. The overall effect was an iffy, solely soft texture to the burrito. The mac and cheese itself was good! The shrimp were overcooked probably about twice as long as they should have been, they were inedible.

Super friendly and accommodating staff!!' Good beers on tap. They need more sours Food is always good and sitting outside is even better. Wish the weather would last. Turkey burger and southwest salad with steak were really good. Sanitizing, masks, one at a time to the bathrooms. All good during the time of covid. We will be back.

Apparently this is the go-to dive bar in the Kaufman area. Service is good, drinks aren't particularly cheap but whatever. It's a neighborhood spot with your ordinary bar food. Not much else to say. Oh, and I heard it's a Steelers bar that doesn't actually show the games. LOL.

It's been a while since I have been cat-fished by a restaurant's photos, but it happened here. Everything that I ordered for this delivery was extremely disappointing and I am so confused as to the food that arrived since I literally looked up this restaurant including checking out photos and I am dumfounded at what I received. 2 stars since I didn't find any bugs or hair in my food. 1 star since they did not forget to include anything in the order and read the notes. I think of the most disappointing thing to me may have been the 'Old Fashioned Chicken Sandwich' which I thought would be coming on an old fashion biscuit, stacked w mashed potatoes. (see photo that I found from another review) The fries were also incredibly disappointing and didn't look anything like the photos, were soggy upon arrival and didn't reheat well. I ordered both 'pomme frites' and 'shoestring'. I wasn't expecting the Pomme frites to be as good as the ones sold at 'Pomme Frites' an east village fry spot, but these were def. not great and both seemed to be frozen to be honest. Please look at other review photos of their fries. It def will not show you these pasty soggy frenchies. Should have checked the Seamless reviews as well, but perhaps food is better to be eaten on site and the great reviews are for people who thought the food was great because they already had a couple of cocktails and beer. A nice buzz will do that to you.

Came here 4 years ago and things have changed. It's so dark you can't see the floors and it feels like the furniture is very worn out. No one came to take our order so we ended up going to the bar to place our order. It got busy because of trivia night which made it lively and fun. However food came out very slowly and the beers on tap weren't very good. All in all if it wasn't for trivia night I wouldn't come back here. It felt like you had to go get someone to take your order ask for an update on food and ask for more water. ‍

Dive-ish looking bar off to the corner on 35th and 35th with a surprisingly extensive beer list and some good bar food options available. Was not crowded on either the weekday night or weekend afternoon that I stopped by, as there is plenty of seating available inside. Draft beers range from $7-10 depending on type/size, and if there's nothing worth getting on tap then the can list has unique options as well. For food, have tried the Guacamole+Chips ($12), Pico De Gallo+Chips ($8), and the Mexican Street Corn ($6). Chips are always warm and plentiful - pico de gallo is a little too sweet but fine flavor, guacamole is creamy though could be spicier. The corn is the best of the bunch - a large cob topped with cheese, mayo, and some spicy seasoning. On the weekend the service was fantastic, waning a bit more on the weekday night. Not the most hopping place for a sports bar, yet better for more of a chilled vibe.

It's a pretty nice sports bar with large TV screens throughout the place so will definitely be on my list of places to hit up to watch a few games! Overall food and service was on point, but also it was a random weeknight where there wasn't a crowd. Either way, recommend this bar if you're looking to grab a bite or watch a game! Classic Waygu Burger - 4/5 Great tasting and juicy burger, but one thing I wish was included was a side of fries at bare minimum. What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

The place is LOUD albeit with good taste of retro, 90's music and not the modern trash that floods the radio waves so I can rock with that. Place is sized pretty well with an outside seating area and plenty of tables inside the albeit dimly lit bar/restaurant. Coming into the place I was greeted by a blonde woman who seemed to be a supervisor of the area. She directed me to a comfortable seating area and a server took my order afterwards. The place was relatively busy so the wait for my food was kind of in the long range, about maybe 15 minutes. I ordered Chicken & Waffles with Iced Tea and the food was definitely worth the wait. That chicken was so good, a bit on the crisp side but it's solid in taste. The Waffle had such an awesome texture with the right measure of powdered sugar, decorated with Blueberries and Strawberries, the entrée was plated very well. The Iced Tea, I didn't know it was unsweetened so that threw me off but some sugar kinda fixed that. Service was also 'A' Tier. The place was busy so it was a tad on the slow side but they were very attentive. About 3 different servers tended to me whether it was about my order, how I liked it and paying for the bill when I was finished. That's dedication and I always give props to that. I enjoyed my visit here.

While deciding where to go one day, this was suggested and im so glad I went. The restaurant is cozy with tables inside the main dining room and in an enclosed outdoor seating area. Im guessing it opens in the summer. I sat down with my niece while waiting for my sister and for a good 5-7 minutes, no one stopped by and gave a menu nor offered water. Finally after about 3 people walked by not saying anything, someone came. The area is not that big and 7 minutes isnt that long but to sit there any not be addressed by all the staff walking by was annoying. Finally my sister came and we were offered water and a menu. After hearing about the specials and asking for recommendations, we settled on the gnocchi (housemade potato gnocchi, burrata, peas, pesto sauce, toasted pine nuts), Pappardelle alla Bolognese (housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce), and side of sautéed spinach. The food arrived and we were pleasantly delightful by the main. The gnocchi was so soft and creamy, the sauce was delicious. Im not a fan of gnocchi but this was so good. The papardelle was my meal and it was also so good. There was a lot of pasta and a good amount of meat sauce. It was also delicious. The spinach on the other hand was bland. It has no flavor and we had to add some salt. A few times we tried to call someone over to our table but felt like no one was paying attention. When we were done with our meals, my sister had a few pieces of gnocchi left. She asked for a box as it was to be my nieces lunch for tomorrow. I then said, can you also box up the spinach. A few minutes later, the server dropped off a bag with one container and said here's the spinach. We tried to call his attention but he was already walking away. Where was the gnocchi. Finally when we came back, we asked about it and he said oh I thought it was garbage. I said no we asked for it to be boxed. He said let me talk to the kitchen. He came back and said sorry, they cant do anything but one dessert will be on me. I guess thats fine but we more wanted the food for the baby. For dessert we ordered a tiramisu and pistachio gelato. The tiramisu was in a jar as opposed to a cake slice. One bite of the ice cream and I knew it was bad. It was grainy and sandy texture. I looked up why that would be and one reason stated it could be improper storage, like it was unfrozen or melted then refrozen. I wasn't chancing that. I told the server and said I couldn't eat it. He offered another dessert but I said know, then offered a limoncello shot. While I appreciate the offer, we weren't drinking before so that wasn't the best option to offer. I just said im fine without a replacement. When we got the bill, the dessert was taken off like he said he would. We paid and left. Overall the main course/pasta meals were delicious. The sides and desserts could use work. Service was alright. Id definitely come back for the food and to try some of the pizza.
