They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

The company that manufactured (and guaranteed) the rooftop modules, Fafco, went out of business last November. My warranty was with Pure PWR and not Fafco, so I wasn't worried about being left in the lurch. A couple of weeks ago one of the Fafco panels sprung a leak, and I called Pure PWR to deal with it. They sent out a repairman who fixed the problem without needing to replace the damaged panel. Pure PWR didn't charge me a penny for this, because they were honoring their warranty. I'm updating my review here to say how impressed I am with how well they honored their warranty even though the deck was stacked against them. They could have waved their hands and mumbled something about how it wasn't their fault -- which it wasn't -- but that's not what they did. They honored the warranty, fixed the problem, and didn't charge me anything. Yay for Pure PWR Pools.

$30k and FIVE MONTHS AFTER permission to operate granted and I'm still producing 0 solar. A few…read moreweeks after my system was deemed complete by Stellar, I noticed that my consumption from the grid had remained the same. I pulled the data from the Tesla app and lined it up with the data from the SDGE app. I sent this spreadsheet showing that I was producing zero power and getting 100% from the grid to the guys at Stellar. The immediate, defensive and accusatory, response was that I should've went with the number of panels they suggested. Keep in mind, I was producing 0 kWh, not 1 or .3 but ZERO. They did not look into it all. A few weeks later, I sent the SDGE bill and they saw the problem but stated that's a problem with SDGE and not them and that's it's my responsibility. They did not validate that SDGE was receiving a signal showing my systems production. Twice, stellar asked that I've paid for the system completely before it was done. I held out payment until it was complete, but did not realize that this step had not been completed. As of this writing, the situation has not been resolved. I have called SDGE more than 10 times and spoken with management. Stellar has offered nothing to make this right after several conversations. I am unable to comment on the system as I have yet to see it operate.

This is to say that some of the other quotes appeared cheaper at first, but I would have either ended up paying extra half-way through the project, or not gotten all of the capability I expected. The roof looks great, the roofers and solar installers were professional, checked in with me daily, and did a thorough job cleaning the job site each day. I appreciated this since we have dogs and a small child. The project was completed ahead of schedule. Our solar system has been operating for about a month, I have had zero problems. I interviewed 8 roofing contractors before deciding on The Roof Masters. Rigo Oceguera was the…read moreproject manager who came out to view my roof and provide the bid for repairs. He showed up exactly on time, explained their whole process to make sure I understood the scope of what needed to be done, and made sure to answer all of my questions, including some I thought of after he left. Their quote was on the lower end of the spectrum, but with an excellent warranty and references. We did end up with a $6k change-order for additional [hidden] damage that was not easily detectible during the initial inspection, but it was not surprising, as the roof had not been replace in well over 20 years and there were noticeable soft spots when walking on the roof due to rotten plywood under the shingles. Even with the change-order, the total cost was extremely reasonable, and came in under my projected budget. The work crew arrived promptly on day one and introduced themselves and apologized that it was going to be noisy/messy for the next few days. Every day, they cleaned up the trash very thoroughly and magnet rolled to make sure nothing was left behind. This was a big concern for me as I have two dogs that I don't want stepping on or eating debris. I was originally quoted 5-7 days for the entire project, and they finished in 4. The roof looks amazing. I would definitely recommend them, and if we decide to add solar in the future, we will go straight to them because the company has been phenomenal to work with.

I used GC Electric Solar for my solar and battery system installation on my single family home. The…read moreway my roof was configured limited the number of panels and how the panels could be oriented, however upon arrival the GCE installers were able to quickly reassess and change the design a bit to compensate for the roof penetration locations. The installation took one day, with provisioning taking a bit longer. Francis at GCE was understanding of the problems I was having with the Credit Union financing the deal, which resulted in a few delayed payments. GCE could have charged me late payment fees but they did not which I do appreciate. There were some delays in the installation timetable, which pushed the initial system in-service date into mid February, however looking back at the calendar there were a few compounding difficulties that were not the fault of GCE. I think the communication between GCE and myself could have been improved a bit, however the quality of the work I think makes up for it. I would work with them in the future for expanding my system or adding additional battery storage.
