This joint has really good food but they never answer the phone. The past three times I have tried to call and place an order it goes straight to voicemail. After speaking with the employees they told me to just use the mobile app to order instead of calling. I normally love this place but after eating a Hot Dog, I had some of the most severe food poisoning of my life. I even see in a review as recent as September 2021 on their site that someone else had food poisoning, along with my neighbor and one other person I know. Disappointed. Been to Sup Dogs countless times now since it's in such a convenient location and so cheap for decent food! Beware though, this place screams college. If you're going late or say after a game, do expect drunken students, maybe some obnoxious singing, and a very loud boisterous atmosphere. And I'm fairly certain all the waitresses are college students. That being said, the overall this is a chill place! You seat yourself and service is quick. Sup Dogs is a hot dogs place, offering up many different styles of hot dogs. You'll find something you'll like for sure. And you get a huge basket of fries to go along with your hot dog! I'm not quite sure how to start this review--Sup Dogs is the go-to somewhat above fast food quality place my friends and I go. Do I go in here expecting a high quality meal? No. Do I expect phenomenal service? No. But it always delivers. First I have some gripes--there is a completely disorganized way of getting a table. Namely, there is no way. You sort of just stand around and wait for one. It really makes no sense. Why not put people's names on a list and then use the loudspeaker you already have to call them? With how it is now, people just stand around spinning their wheels getting nowhere. Once you sit down, it's waiter service from there which is better than how it used to be (order at the bar, then sit down). The service here has usually exceeded my expectations. The waiters and waitresses are always pleasant and I have had the manager/owner/guy that looks in charge check up on my table on several occasions--really a nice guy as well. Sometimes this place is really slow, like unnecessarily slow and I'm not really sure why. Sure, it might be busy, but there's no need for me waiting 30 minutes for a burger. The food, though, is surprisingly good. It's craveable, unhealthy, bad-for-you food that's just good. I've gotten several burgers and they're all good and the nachos aren't bad, either. The fries are tasty as well. The best part is the Sup Dogs sauce. No idea what's in it but goodness is it really good. You know what you're getting into if you come to Sup Dogs--decent food, good service, fine price. Fix the seating issue and I'll give another star. I'd have no problem coming again. This is an awesome go-to after-midnight spot in Chapel Hill, specifically for students of UNC - don't think Duke students would like it much (I joke). This reminds me of UC Berkeley's top dog. Loved the signs/posters on the wall - very clever and humorous. It was an inviting and friendly vibe. The menu is big and you realize there are so many different ways to make hotdogs delicious. The servers were very accommodating as well. You can sit inside or at the high tables outside. I enjoyed my experience here overall. read more

If you're looking for a college hangout restaurant that serves slightly overpriced, super heavy, extra greasy burgers and hot dogs, then Sup Dogs is the place to go. The food is tasty, but the portion size is a little bit small for what you pay, especially for the hot dogs. My go-to order is the Hawaiian Burger combination, which I like because of the pineapple and the famous Sup Dogs sauce. The fries are pretty good, too. Service is always very friendly and attentive here, and the atmosphere is probably as casual as it can get, with people talking loudly and sports playing on televisions mounted to the walls. The classic American diner food. Sup Dogs was a really spontaneous restaurant trip that I partook in with a group of friends. To be honest, I wasn't all that hungry, but was looking to eat something before it got too late. I went in with zero expectations and was actually pleased with what they had to offer --- a variety of hot dogs, hamburgers, and appetizers. Because a lot of us weren't too hungry, we ordered a few appetizers to share around the table. We got the Taco Tots, the Pizza Pepperoni Fries (forgot exact name..) and the Jalapeno tots. Every single one of these appetizers were quite good (especially the Pizza Pepperoni fries!), and they gave heaping portions each. They do not have a lot of options with salads or anything else, so if you're looking to eat something besides hot dogs or hamburgers, I do not recommend this place. We've passed this place so many times because we got overwhelmed by all the college students that overrun this place. Tonight we braved it and went in and it was so worth it! My drinks were good, I got the sangria margarita blended drink and then the 3 buck frozen margarita special, both were to my liking. My husband said the gin and tonic was bad but the food and my drinks were amazing! The hot dogs have some weird sounding toppings which work amazingly! Sup Dogs is a staple for Franklin St and I couldn't imagine it not being there. It's the perfect place to go after the bar and the location is in close proximity to ToPo which is great. It can get really packed there during the school year or on Saturday nights, but service is usually pretty fast. All of the burger combos are $7.99 which I think is pretty high (compared to cookout), but it does come with a lot of fries. They serve the funnel cake sticks with a cup of syrup covered in powdered sugar which make it too sweet but without it it's really good. Been coming to this place for quite a while now and it's been a pretty awesome experience everytime. Hotdogs and burgers are delicious so far my favorite is the cowboy burger. Kinda surprised not a lot of people get them. But for anyone who wants more than just a burger, do what I do. I combine them for example my biggest accomplishment here has been my nacho, bacon cheese fries, cowboy, Hawaiian, smokehouse burger. All together like in two buns and all that in the middle. It's awesome and delicious and truly suggest that. No one else has gone further than 2 I think other than me so I challenge you big dogs out there who can beat me!! I've been waiting for them to tell me someone else to step up haha. Everyone here is cool and spot on. And WiFi is a plus. Any restaurant with WiFi is a plus. I came here Wednesday 7/18/18 during a visit to Chapel Hill. I heard some good things about this place so I was excited to give it a try. I hate to say that I was really disappointed. The hot dogs are REDICULOUSLY small. The fries were cold. I ordered a orange sup crush and it was the worst drink I've ever had. All I could taste was Sprite and that was it. For my meal I had the sup dog combo. The "sup dog" sauce hardly had any taste to it in my opinion. Popular fast food restaurants like Zaxbys or Cookout has a way better dipping sauce. Their "16 ingredient chili" tasted like it could have possibly came from a can. My mom makes better chili than that. This place was just HIGHLY overrated in my opinion. The waitresses here also seem to be too into how big their ass looks in yoga pants in 95+ degree weather and looking "good." read more

Probably the WORST service in Chapel Hill. I ordered my food to-go. I did some research and came to find that the owner's wife, Jenny, took my order. It took over half an hour to get my order and I probably never would have gotten it if I hadn't said anything. I had to ask for my food at least 3-4 times to different waitresses before anyone paid me any attention, even though a lot of waitresses were just standing around behind the register in the midst of a super busy restaurant, some even looking on their phones. I saw so many people place their orders, get their orders, and leave before me. Not only did she not apologize, but I never saw her again as she seemed to avoid me. At this point I wanted a refund. It just so happened that the owner, Bret, was working. However, he refused to give me a refund and told me that me getting upset about it was pointless. He then proceeded to ask me sarcastically what he should do to make up for it. I was in shock. No other person has ever treated me like this. He then looked at me, threw his arms up and said "OK THEN" and stormed off in a fiery pit of rage when I sat in silence. I honestly would not have been so mad and would have shrugged it off if they didn't treat me so poorly. If even the owners are so standoffish and disrespectful to customers, I cannot see how this business is going to thrive. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. read more
