My mom wa visiting during the holiday season and she wanted to prepare a homemade seafood paella. We tried going to our normal grocery stores to buy fresh seafood and we couldn't find things like mussels, crab, squid, etc. My bf suggested visiting here so we gave it a try. They have a large parking lot, but it's also pretty bus at times. This is a big grocery store with a wide variety of Asian foods. I got some shrimp chips which I like and cannot find at other stores. The seafood section was PERFECT! They had such a wide variety of seafood from fresh in fish tanks, to frozen in the open freezers. I would definitely highly recommend visiting for fresh seafood and Asian foods. The place is pretty crowded and we did look out of place, but I didn't care. People were friendly and even if they had limited English they would try to communicate with us and help us. It is a pretty crowded space so be aware of that. They form one long queue for the checkout and go sorting through the lanes. Overall I have a new go to place for seafood. read more

Customer service is non-existent here. I bought two boxes of soju and came home to put it away and one of the bottle was broken inside. Called them to ask if they could exchange the broken bottle and the lady that answered basically told me theres nothing she could do unless I have proof that it broke there. I always buy boxed soju and never had this happen so I never thought to check inside the box. Mishandled there cuz I drove straight home after buying. She also added that I should have caught it and not bought it. I would never in a million year do a review for the market but I am definitely not returning back to this location. Check everything before you leave the store is a lesson I learned. Looking at the bottom of the box I guess there is a little stain mark lol I should have caught that before buying according to the worker there. read more

Not gonna shop here anymore. The cashier told the bag peraon to go into my shopping bag WITHOUT MY PERMISSION. They found a few splastic bags and wanted to confiscate them. I told her i will put my items in the bags on my own when i get to my car! They let me out after stealing back one of my plastic produce bags for kimchi. Also super long lines. Cashier had a nasty exasperated attitude when i decided not to purchase a $20 bag of baby anchovies. She needs to be fired or retrained. Receipt says her name is CASHIER0701. Also their produce was not fresh. Esp the napa cabbages - they salvaged the inner leaves from bigger cabbages going bad. Green onions were too expensive and a hot mess not worth buying. Not sure if it's owned by the same owner as hannam in LA, but I noticed some items are cheaper here than in LA. If I'm in the area, I tend to stop by to check if the regular items I buy are in stock at a lower price. There's crackers I get that is $1 cheaper so that's definitely a score for me. They don't seem to upkeep with the expiry dates so I always make a habit of checking the dates before I buy anything here. read more

This is the absolute worst market I've been to. I came in out of curiosity because I couldn't believe there are 3 Korean markets in such close proximity. Not only is the staff at the store rude, the people I encountered shopping here are also rude and nasty. The produce seems like a good deal but when you look at the quality, it's terrible. Save your sanity and go elsewhere where people know how to behave. Nothing is worth shopping here for. read more

The market itself is nothing special. It's more affordable than places like H Mart but definitely less clean/less well maintained. However, the one plus this place has is the food court! It doesn't look like much but there's a jjajjang myeon spot there that's affordable and dishes out tasty food. It's not the best but solid and a really good deal. Portions are huge! read more

I picked up two kinds of Korean finger shaped crackers. 1st one says $2.99/pack I picked an orange color and a green color. I waited patiently for their loud speaker to announce my number 3, when customer behind me told me to go to number 3 prior to the loud speaker calling that number. I checked out all my merchandise, cashier said $29.64 I asked, may I buy 0.36 to make it $30 to return with my vip card so I may get credit? Cashier told me to go to cashier chief, front end manager. Why did I know their title? Cuz I trained cashiers 15 years while I worked for that Taiwanese supermarket chain from 1988-2003. I ended up returning all items cuz cashier ordered me to do that if I liked to buy those two varieties of crackers. I did, more errors or fraud cuz the shelf price was $2.99/ea yet the cashier scanned the right bar code to charge me $3.49. read more

I love this Korean Market. It is different from HMart, but they have stuff the other locations do not have which is a nice bonus. As we came in, we were greeted by a super friendly woman that offered us a bunch of snack tastings. We tried so many Korean Snacks and ended up buying a bunch of the ones we tasted. Love that lady =) Parking is easy. Lots of snacks, frozen items and produce selection. They have my favorite Ginger Candy, and it is combined with Orange. If you loooovvveee Ginger and get nauseated easily, this candy is perfect for you! It is not chewy, so it will not get stuck in your teeth. Has an amazing taste and makes you want to eat a bunch of them lol. The check out line can be long, but it moves fast. People were nice. I have come to this market since I was a teenager with my Dad actually he used to take my sister, brother and I here to eat for lunch once in a while or to pick up Korean stuff for the house so, I have a lot of memories at this Market it brings me joy. When we moved to Brea. I started coming back here again and it was not too far for me. It's about 15 minutes which isn't too bad for me. They have a cafeteria area where we eat quite often that our Dad took us to go eat at lol. It's not the most amazing Korean food but for cafeteria lunch Korean food it's delicious. I really enjoy coming here. So does our daughter she always helps me pick out snacks she wants and she likes the Korean drinks and so much more. They have a lot of variety of everything like at HMart. Which is across the street from this market. But I find stuff here that they don't at Hmart, and the employees here are really friendly. I taken my Mom when she was alive and grandma. I even ran into Korean family members before lol, but I highly recommend this store. It's always busy the parking lot is always packed. Paris Baquette is next door and a little Korean shopping mall I used to take my Mom to that she loved. They know me here from how much I come in but think they changed some employees at the cafeteria we go to this time I missed the other lady she always knows what we order lol. But I still love coming here. Got lunch today felt like something different, we ordered kimchi fried rice, bulgogi baby girl loves and Dumpling soup with rice cakes sounded warm and inviting. I came here looking for the Apeach Kakao Talk masks, but I could only find the children's ones. I was worried about the sizing, but it's suitable for a smaller-faced adult. It wouldn't fit on a large face, howIt's usually well-stocked, and the Apeach gloves are still $2.99, as well as the masks. However, they ran out of the adult sizes. The vegan Nongshim veggie soon noodles in the package are cheaper at Walmart by a little bit, but they have a wide variety of instant noodles and cup noodles. Even though only my mum uses their rewards program, they stopped using their previous card cash back method some time ago. I bought salmon sashimi today, and even though the packaging date was today, it had a strong sour, rotten smell--it was clearly spoiled. When I called Hannam Chain, they took no responsibility for their poor quality control. Instead, they laughed with a mocking tone and told me to bring it in myself if I wanted a refund, knowing the hassle would discourage people from actually returning it. Do not buy sashimi here. Dishonest practice here is a big let down. However, the quality is decent and selection is different from H mart. There are more goods that are directly imported from Korea. That's the only reason I am coming here despite the fact H mart is just across the street. If you're looking for quality produce such as vegetables and fruits, just go to H Mart. The produce section is disappointing here but the meat quality is superior over H mart. You can find never frozen good quality meat. There is also good selection of Korean imports. Cashier number 3 did not bag my items. When I asked if the cashier normally bags the items, she said there is a separate person responsible for bagging. She told me that if that person is not available, customers have to bag their own items. I was wondering if this was the store's policy, so I called Hannam Chain to ask. However, the person who answered the phone spoke in a rude tone and told me to hurry up because they were busy. The overall customer service was very unfriendly. First time here. A bit frustrated about their strange loyalty card policy, and how the lady didn't want to explain the policy to me until after I made my purchase. I later found out that unless you spend a minimum of $30 non-sale items, you don't "qualify" to get a free loyalty card. So strange. Give me the card like all other stores and let me rack up my points at my cadence. Theirs is a strange system. The positive stars are for the fresh produce. Love coming here to get some authentic Korean ingredients among other things. First of all, they have a great selection of fruits and vegetables. Their prices are very affordable and are all very fresh. I love coming here to get their Korean Pear. They are tasty and full of flavor. Be sure to visit their meat section. I love getting their premium beef cuts along with their selection of fish. I love how authentic this place is; the staff talk to people in korean, despite if we understand or not. This korean market has all the really good stuff. The space is kinda small and cramped but the selection is great!! They have some of the best meats, veggie/fruit quality, and they have hongdae mimi spicy rice cakes (which I dont see anywhere else) and they sometimes get some specialty novelty food from korea that no other markets get (like Raw soy sauce crab). So their junk food normally doesnt go on sale (like chips and ramen) and they dont do even do much sales compared to other neighboring markets..but also dont inflate the price -like what Zion did during Covid. Normally zion does the most sales, especially on chips/ramen/soju and such. Hmart is good for various foreign snacks and decently priced (not on sale). Their meats are pretty good too. They have a large banchan selection for those who like that. Also they have the chinese food and hella chicken inside t which is awesome. You can also collect rewards here. read more

Their CS is a total disappointment. Bought a box of cookie 2 days ago (imported from Korea, expire Dec 2024) and tasted totally stale and texture also off. I've been eating this cookie since childhood and even bought few months ago without a problem, so I know how it tastes. Lady at CS claims no refund for an open item (I had one opened, tasted one out of 30 in the box). She said refund ok for food gone bad but this is not an applicable item lol. I do not know their definition of 'bad food' but clearly she was blaiming on my change in taste. I suggested they do QA for the current batch and the lady denied it since I was the first to bring up the issue with this item. Poor reasoning overall and humiliating experience. Came here to grab some snacks and drinks. I like that this location has a large wine selection, though I'm not sure if they have a good selection that is appropriately priced...I just know they have a lot of wine offerings. I liked that it was nice and empty on a saturday night, usually I come here during the afternoon when 99% of folks also decide to come exactly at the same time as me and have to deal with "bumper carts" and dodging people left to right as if you're in a video game (survival of the fittest type a scenario). It can get very aggressive at K-markets on the weekends, so glad I was able to avoid the real-life video gaming. The lady ringing me up said she probably didn't need to card me, which was my first brush off of the 21+ ID check which means I'm actually showing my age now. :( We got a good laugh out of it though...at my expense. This review is for the front security employee.. i was looking for this particular tofu mix because all asian store that i went are out of stock or they don't have it. i asked the old lady at the front if they have that item and showed her the pic, she talked to another employee and said they don't know. So, i walked around again at the store and looked for it one more time.. and No and they don't have it. Went back to the lady I talked to and said thank you.. and when i was about to go out of the store the grandpa security employee called me and asked me if I bought anything from the store. I said No, i didn't buy anything! And then he pointed at my small sling bag and told me what was it!! Omg.. of course it's my bag! Cute local Asian store and it in the Korean plaza. Lots of variety of stuffs to choose from. Lots of options for Korean side dish or even lunch or diner full meal just need to heat it up when you get home. The staff are really nice and friendly. Oldest supermarket that we have been going to at the Beach/Malvern Korean Central. We used to shop at 99 Ranch in Cerritos before we had realized that there was a similar store close to home. Even after Zion & H-Mart opened, we still go here. Matter of fact, depending on where parking is available is where we usually end up amongst these 3 stores. Pros compared to H-Mart & Zion: 1) Abundant parking compared to H-Mart. As you all know the Village Circle plaza can get VERY crowded during peak times. 2) Fresh produce. Little bit cheaper than the other stores. 3) Bakery inside the store. Paris Baguette in the same shopping complex. Cons compared to H-Mart & Zion: 1) Too many flies in the produce section. 2) Lacking Awoolim Kimbap Factory type of food inside the store and a Daiso style household items store in the complex. Equal to H-Mart & Zion: Service, or lack thereof is expected as is the case with every other Ethnic market I have been to. I have yet to be approached by any employee inquiring whether they could be of assistance. :) read more

The only k market my wife and I frequent. Best bang for the buck food court in North O.C. w/o a doubt. I actually believe that the hybrid Chinese joint in this food court is the best around. I've visited many a hung over Sunday morning to remedy my stomach. You can also get a big bowl of mixed rice w/ sashimi (hwedupbap) for around 6 bucks at the sushi joint, a tremendous deal. Due to recent competition prices have gotten better. (mini k town, this intersection...) I personally would avoid Sunday afternoons, aka lots of elderly Koreans getting in and out of parking lots in their giant Lexus' wink wink. But otherwise a great place to get your shopping done. read more

A good stop to buy Asian groceries. They really don't have sales on Korean chips, crackers, and boxes of ramen compared to the Korean supermarkets in Garden Grove and H-Mart in Norwalk. I don't bother with Zion (Hawaiian Gardens) anymore. This place needs stiff competition and needs to stop monopolizing the area! Arirang, another Korean market chain will be opening soon on Brookhurt and Orangethorpe, so that should drive the prices down. If you don't speak Korean, it might be hard to communicate with the employees if you're looking for something in particular. The food court is decent if you want fast Korean food. Nothing really stands out in terms of taste. There's a traditional Korean restaurant with all sorts of Korean dishes, a Korean/Japanese place that has udon noodles and sushi rolls and a Korean/Chinese that has fried rice, fried shrimp with garlic sauce, spicy seafood noodle soup, and black bean noodles. It's a nice place to shop if you live in the area, cook a lot, or want to purchase the prepared foods and side dishes. Also if you're planning a picnic or going on a long road trip, I recommend the Kim Bap (rolls filled with an assortment of vegetables and a choice in meat wrapped in seaweed) located near the cashiers. They come sliced and can be picked up by fingers or chopsticks. Look at the packaging closely because they usually have 2 meats. One is beef and one is tempura (fish cake). So if you prefer one over the other, make sure you double check. They have over 3 brands of Kim Bap, including the ones Han Nam makes directly. And they should be $3.99 a pack which includes 2 rolls. Don't worry about the utensils because the cashier puts in a couple of chopsticks in a bag for you. read more

This Hannam market on the Beach Blvd was so bad. I went in to buy Mask but no more left so I tried to back out to the exit and the security guy told me that I have to line up and walk through the cash register. But the line was so long and I did not buy anything so I did not have to line up to pass the cash register. I was not very happy this situation and the manger was not kind when I explained this situation. The manager supposed to be nice to their customers. I asked to the security guy that why I have to pass the cash register and he told me that I have a big hand bag and some people hide grocery in the big handbag. I do not put grocery's in my handbag that need to be sanitize . Doesn't make sense. No more Hannam market on the Beach Blvd. My friend had a unpleasant experience as well . read more
