Since the existing market shuttered to the announcement of a Northgate Market coming in has been so exciting. The day has come and Northgate has open. I entered through the door and wow, wow, wow! They have everything made fresh in the bakery, the prepared foods including Carnitas, rice, beans, salsas & ceviche. There's an area where they make fresh flour and corn tortillas, an impressive meat counter, fresh produce and even a area where they have fresh squeezed juices. There's only thing they don't have is freshly made churros at this location. If you want churros you'll have to go to the Santa Ana location.

Guacamole bar. Offering no jalapeño, jalapeño , and habanero.

We're in town on a business trip, and I have a feeling this is about to become our nightly dinner spot. The food was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and everything you want when you're craving amazing Mexican food. But what really made the experience special was our sweet server, Louroles. She was such a delight! So friendly, welcoming, and she even surprised us with a few extras just because I'm "sweet"... LOL! That kind of genuine kindness is something you don't forget. If you're anywhere near La Mirada, I highly recommend stopping by. Great food, wonderful service, and a place that instantly makes you feel like family. We'll definitely be back... probably tomorrow night!

The chilaquiles looked great. They were decorated with garnish but as soon as you bit- argh disappointing. :/// The chef is heavy-handed with salt, the red sauce that was supposed to be "spicy" tasted like salty tomato paste. Sauce had no flavor :/ The worst thing was that they were swimming in sauce that made the chilaquiles soggy. The kiss of death. Chilaquiles are supposed to be crunchy not soggy. If they were crispy when they were made they were killed by the sauce flood. My hubby had the burrito & said it was ok. I just saw all the grease of the chorizo ozzing from his burrito -gross (strain it people!) Moral of the story: Keep looking for good chilaquiles, this is NOT the spot!/

I really liked this salsa. Smokey with a decent amount of heat but not extreme. Not sure what kind of pepper was used but tasty.

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.

The food was amazing, very flavorful, colorful, and served with grace. Our waiter was fantastic, and the owner was just amazing. He was extremely friendly and made sure everything was okay. The drinks were delicious, the Asada plate was wonderful, the meat was so tender and juicy, the chili relleno was different from what you think it would be, but also very delicious. They brought out the chips first, and they were great. The owner let us know everything was fresh and was flown in from Mexico, I believe he said Oaxaca. The guacamole is amazing! They look just like bagged Costco shrimp. Flavor is ok on the chips you get when you sit down. No salsa as this is a Oaxaca style spot. The mole drizzle on top is ok. The biggest issue is that the online web menu did not match what was available in the restaurant on a weekend. No tlayuda or huarache/sope or tacos even. Bizzare and not cool because when we arrived, we realized this and still decided to stay. So. Thats on us. Would not return. This place is cute inside and I could tell it wants to be trendy and cute. The music was loud and kinda clubbey but still not enough to make the food enjoyable. Alcohol drinks are very pretty, aesthetically. Waitresses also were not busy on a weekend at dinner time. I could see that they were chatting in the corner. There was only one other table there so I get it. However, when she got our order. It was wrong so that rubbed me the wrong way.

Like many Mexicans, I grew up believing that the best Mexican food can only be found in Mexico. However, La Huasteca completely exceeded my expectations. You can tell they put a lot of care into the quality and preparation of their food. The service was great, the atmosphere was welcoming, and most importantly, the food tasted like real Mexican food. That's not something I say often. If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine and don't mind paying a little extra for quality, I highly recommend La Huasteca. We will definitely be coming back.
