Breakfast was served until 10 o'clock in the morning. It was very busy with big groups of children under five and seniors; an interesting mix. There were three waffle makers with assorted toppings, coffee, frozen pastries, yogurt, biscuits & gravy, eggs & bacon. We asked the next day if they could change the sheets and clean the room. They said yes. We got back and no one had done a thing at all...and we were out of bath towels and toilet paper and had to go ask for those, as well as ask them AGAIN about cleaning and sheets. They apologized and said they would mark it in bold. We had to sleep in the sandy sheets again. Finally we got back the last day and they had come to the room, but......THEY JUST MADE THE BED WITH THE SAME DIRTY SHEETS! For $100 I can understand. For $1500 I'm pretty angry. After a poor night's rest, on the morning of the 5th, I found a bedbug crawling through the sheets. I trapped the bug under a plastic cup, and my husband went down to the front desk to notify the attendant. Housekeeping members were sent to take a look, and confirmed it was a bedbug. One of the women said to the other that, "I told them there were bedbugs" in a neighboring room, but that nothing had ever been done (?!!!). I subsequently went and spoke with the front desk attendant myself, who took my name and phone number, and assured me that she had also texted the manager (offsite at the time) who would be following up with me. We left stressed, with ALL our belongings in trash bags, in hopes of not transferring any bedbugs to our home. The hotel was fully booked at the time of our stay, and who knows how widespread the issue is, or how many people may have unwittingly carried off bugs to their next destination. My family is now on pins and needles, worrying that we may have brought back bedbugs that we will continue to incur expense and stress dealing with. Two days went by with zero follow-up from management, so I AGAIN called and spoke with the same front desk attendant. She told me that "my manager won't be back on site until Wednesday". I asked her again to urgently relay the message that we wanted to be contacted ASAP. On Tuesday morning, when there was still no reply, I contacted Budget Host International's main customer service line in Texas. The person I spoke with also tried calling, was unable to reach a manager directly, and requested a call back to the corporate office. (*As of this morning, Friday June 12, she also has not been responded to.) Also on Tuesday morning, I sent a lengthy email to the attention of the manager. On Tuesday night I finally received a very brief reply that was essentially an excuse about the non-communication and a statement that they have a 3rd party pest control company investigating, and that, "I have issued a partial refund". There was no name or job title attached, and we have received NO refund, partial or otherwise, nor is anything pending on the credit card that was used for our stay. There was also NO apology for our experience. UNBELIEVABLE. I would expect any hotel to be all the way on top of any bedbug complaint with quick response and robust damage control. I have worked in customer service and administration for thirty years, and cannot believe the poor maintenence, unprofessionalism and outright dishonesty of this place. I tried to give management time to properly handle this before leaving negative feedback, but after a week of runaround, I am done. It's a disgrace how carelessly this place is run. AVOID!

First of all, it has a beach, a big grassy communal courtyard, and chairs where you can sit at the waterline and listen to the seagulls that chitter and chatter like crazy. The beach scenery is gorgeous, and the views of the bay and Mackinac Island are gorgeous. The beds are comfy, the HVC and Wi-Fi work great, and the shower may have been the best hotel shower I ever had. Super pressure and plenty of hot water. Oh, and we had a balcony with a great view of the beach and the courtyard. But the biggest surprise was the amazing breakfast variety and the stellar breakfast service by Sheila and Melissa. They ran around at full speed, cleaning, wiping, refilling and straightening non-stop. As for the breakfast foods, there was a bounty of egg white omelets, scrambled eggs, turkey and pork sausage links, biscuits and gravy, a pancake machine, Cereals, Yogurt, gooey Cinnamon buns, Oatmeal, breads, muffins, bagels, apples, oranges, bananas, and more. Our two-night stay cost us $540.50 after taxes. We could not have been happier with our stay here. Five stars all the way.

The curtain over the AC needs to be shorter to not interfere with air flow & had black mold on the inner sheer one - double yuck After a long day of traveling we didn't appreciate hearing vacuuming outside our door at 730pm & than again at 930pm. Only hubs had breakfast & coffee - which he said was good & hot!! They did welcome our pet & had a great area for walking & bathroom breaks for him. We thought the Mackinac City property was the worst IHG property we've stayed at - this one is slowly catching up to it, sadly! Is it a high class place to stay? Nah, it's a motel! The price was great for us and met all our needs!

I don't know what the prices were when he started coming here, but I was able to book 2 rooms for three nights for cheaper than it costs to stay on the island in one room for one night. Sorry about the flashback to math class, people, but this is an economics lesson where you'll want to pay attention. There is a log cabin kind of feel to the architecture. And, in another throwback to a bygone age, the doors use keys...actual, metal keys, not plastic cards. Outside the room, you'll find gas barbecue grills with tongs and other tools to enjoy your home away from home. While the room itself seems humble, it does contain most of the amenities you would expect. It's spacious. The beds are reasonably comfortable. There is a mini fridge, but unfortunately no microwave. And the restaurant is just a few steps away from your room, and it's excellent. One thing you would not expect, however, is a mind-boggling array of on-demand programming on your flat screen TV. Dozens of shows are available from maybe 30 different networks. And, it's no extra charge for any of it. Even if it weren't for all this, the location itself is perfect. Directly across the street are two Mackinac Island ferry terminals. I'm not exaggerating: they're literally across the street. That $27 you pay for a round-trip ticket is a heck of a lot cheaper than you would pay each day to stay on the island. Economics, people. So, go ahead and get a second mortgage to pay for a stay on the island. I will keep on coming here and enjoying all the great benefits, while also having money left over to actually pay for things to do on the island.
