Went here for a late lunch with a friend, we had the Dan Dan noodles, dumplings, pork/veggie bao and the sesame balls. The service was great, we got menus right away, the food came out quickly. Our favorite was the Dan Dan noodles, followed by the sesame balls. The dumplings were flavorful and the baos were nice and fluffy, but I would pass on them and try some of the items on the menu the next time I go back. This is easily the best Chinese restaurant in Mountain View and surrounding areas. Each dish is so flavorful and clearly made with love. They get quite busy on the weekends with dine in and takeout orders but they still get food out quickly and still manage to have time to take care of each of their customers. Recently I went with my daughter after soccer practice and made it there at 8:40 and 8:45 pm, and we were refused for dining in (ok for takeout) , which was unfortunate. For the second time of refusal I asked why the kitchen was closed but was still able to process takeout, and that perhaps they should post operating hours as till 8:30 pm so it would be easier for customers. The server was notably impatient, and angry at my question and another worker had to stop him and intervene and apologize. This is a rare find in terms of truly authentic mid to northern Chinese cuisine. Located in a nondescript, half occupied strip mall at one of the busiest intersections in the Mountain View Palo Alto area, Super Bao can easily be missed. And paradoxically this adds to its charm. And the food is, well, simply great. The bao's here are not just super, they are sublime. Their dough and ingredients are the best we have ever tasted outside of China, if not among the most competitive there. That's right, if you are looking for great bao's without going all the way to Shanghai or Beijing, this is your place. Besides the bao's, they also have an extended menu catering to diverse customer expectations. We tried different dishes on several occasions. All highly satisfying. An example is their hot and sour soup. Rarely do we come across such authenticity in this ubiquitous dish that you can't miss when stepping into almost any Chinese restaurants here in the US. But their offering is the real deal. Like others have commented, the service here is friendly and efficient. No surprise given their manager/owner Jason is an experienced restaurateur in the local Chinese food scene. That said, the vibe here is family, family, family. Came in Sunday night with my friends we were a party of 5. We all ordered a variety of food. The dishes itself tasted good. Service was ok and we were seated immediately. My reasoning for taking off two stars is because of their lack of accommodation for dietary restrictions. one of my friends is vegetarian for religious reasons and there is an item on their menu called vegetarian three delicacies in the Bao section. We were gonna order this to share as a group and thank goodness I asked what was in it. It has shrimp!!!! why would you say it's vegetarian when it clearly isn't. Then my husband ordered this cold sesame noodle dish and it highly smelled like peanut and I tasted it myself. He is deathly allergic to peanut we told the waiter and he said he checked twice and there's no peanut. Well when we got home my husband was vomiting and not well. I don't believe there's no peanut because even to me it tasted nutty. This made us feel unsafe to eat here again. read more

Staff is disorganized and unable to keep up with the waitlist. We signed up for the waitlist, waited 20 minutes while a line formed behind us. We helped other guests sign up for said waitlist and patiently let the staff know who was next in line. When it was finally our turn, the lady pointed us towards a table. Then a male staff member stepped in to tell us that our party did not have enough people to sit there. He told us we had to wait for the next available two-top table and seated the next party at the table we were at. The man told us that they were cleaning a two top table for us, then proceeded to use that same table to stack someone else's order. The staff completely ignored us even though we were quietly waiting by the door. Waited 30 minutes to be kicked out of line and no food. Why have a sign up waitlist if you don't even use it? Do better. We are hungry and were planning on order a lot plus takeout for later. read more

We decided to try this 2026 newcomer for takeout. We ordered house special chow mein, pork shrimp chive bao, Shanghai dumpling, wonton noodle soup n black lava bun. Online ordering was quick with easy tracking. Though take note that they charge $1 for processing the order. They were generous w the serving sizes and gave us a free soup dumpling on our order. We ended up here on a whim while searching for soup dumplings, and I am so glad we stayed! Don't let the strip mall exterior fool you--we almost turned around, but it would have been a huge mistake. The portions are incredibly generous, especially compared to places like Dough Zone. We actually over-ordered because we weren't expecting such feast-sized plates! Hands down, this was the best orange chicken I've ever had, and even my two teenagers were obsessed. It's a charming "hole in the wall" that appears to be family-run, with quick and friendly service. Show up when they say the order will be ready and you might still wait anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes or more. Right now there are 9 partial orders sitting on the counter. The restaurant is in an old and tired small shopping center but the food is great. The mini bao are really tasty and much easier to eat than the regular sized ones. The beef roll is really good as are the bbq pork buns. Tasty green beans too. If there was one small knock it was that the beef chow fun had a few too many onions and not enough noodles but it tasted really good. I will be back to try other menu items. read more

Came here for take out food. The staff were super attentive, helpful and extremely nice. I got the beef noodle soup, crab/pork soup dumpling, beef pancake and pan fried pork baos. The food came out at a reasonable time. It took me 30 minutes to drive home to eat. By the time I got home, the food was still delicious. The portions were pretty good sized and the food was extremely flavorful. The seasoning was perfect for me. I highly recommend the beef noodle soup - the noodles have a house-made taste to it, soup was rich, and the beef was nice and tender. The soup dumplings were also a favorite of mine.
