Decor: It's a fixer upper, but you will learn to love it. Portions: Massive Service (10/10): The owner and his wife, Jim and Grace are literally the nicest and friendliest people you can imagine who want nothing more than for you to enjoy your stay at their restaurant. They have homemade iced tea available for their customers at all times, its a small gesture but makes you feel welcome. I have come in several times and Jim always remembers me and greets me like a loyal customer. One time my friends and I hung out well past closing without realizing it but Jim never once asked us to leave and patiently cleaned up in the kitchen until we realized we had overstayed our welcome. The taste is so fresh and light, the portion however, is huge, my husband and I had to share. They have free ice tea that was also good and refreshing. The staff is very lovely and friendly. Delicious, fast and cheap. Staff were nice and friendly. I felt very welcomed the moment I walked in. Chicken Teriyaki was on daily special for $6.99 and it was really good. Run by a sweet couple who works from open till close late in the night, this neighbourly joint is one of those restaurants that you want to keep going back to just for their friendliness and home-y feels. They have a solid menu with great flavour, and they recently changed their take-out packaging from Styrofoam to biodegradable boxes. This small restaurant is my go to place for lunch in the area. Great service, fast and most importantly great value! I always go for either Teppanyaki or black pepper beef or chicken. This simple stir fry veggie + meat will get you full and ready to finish second half of your work day. The people running the shop are family, attentive, courteous. My go to place for lunch and dinner when didn't have time to cook. We lived nearby but only started going there when a friend get their takeout for our playdate lunch. Their fish with green beans, black pepper/ teriyaki chicken and soya chicken are favorites in my house and toddler would gobble them up. Brought my co-workers here and they enjoy the food as well and they have been back for dinner takeout when they have limited time to eat. The four stars is based purely on bang for your buck. I ordered the veggie stir fry and for $8.35 I got two meals out of it which is unheard of price-wise. The food was 3 stars in regards to taste. Service was friendly and 4 stars. Don't expect much dining in, you eat off a paper plate and fetch your own water. The menu photos looks nothing like the presentation so beware. We had super high hopes for this place based on the good reviews -and it always smells so good. Sadly the reality ( at least for us) was quite underwhelming. All of the dishes tasted the same - very strange considering that we ordered a range of unique dishes - Mapo Tofu - Black Bean Veggies and Teriyaki Veggies. People have commented on the portion size - and when we picked up our order the boxes were heavy - Once We opened them though we discovered that half of each container was filled with rice with the dish on top, and all of the dishes - all of them had slices of firm tofu in them . Now as a vegetarian, I like Tofu, but this was just too much. The teriyaki was quite bland and again everything tasted the same. The people who run it are very nice - and clearly a mom and pop business - but that is not enough for us to return. :( read more

The couple that runs the place is super friendly and always shows their enthusiasm to all customers. Note: the meat servings are smaller, while there are large servings of rice and veggies. This is probably how they keep their prices so low in yaletown - there is still nothing comparable in the area. It could be worth paying for the extra meat option if that's your thing. read more

My boys each ordered the Beef Yakasobi, with beef, soba noodles, and vegetables (mild). My husband ordered the Chicken Teriyaki special with rice and vegetables (medium). I ordered the Hot and Sour Chicken special with rice and vegetables (medium). All 4 dishes were delicious! The owners cook just past the seating area so that the aroma drifts to where you are seated. I love this little tiny restaurant run by an older Chinese couple. They're so cute and friendly. The husband and wife work everyday! They're such hard workers and such nice people. They remember you and your order. I used to live around the corner from this place a few years ago so I'd come here every once in a while for some fast quality food. I haven't been back in a few months and I came back the other day to my surprise they still remembered me and my order. The chef here lives up to the name, he really is a super chef! I have never given a restaurant 5 stars before today. Today was my first visit, totally by chance because it was a holiday and it was past 7pm which is when a lot of the Chinese restaurants close in Vancouver. It's small inside; two to a table unless you sit at the window where 3 can fit. The owners are awesome. The service was excellent, and very helpful. I had the zucchini chicken with curry - outstanding dish! My wife had galan beef which was also amazing (and got me out of the hangry doghouse). My picky 6 yr old had the dumplings and loved them. I never got to try them because he pounded all 6 down before I had a chance to snag one. He also ate part of the other 2 dishes too, which is a rare occurance. You get a lot of value for your money here. It's not fancy but it is an excellent experience all around. read more

As a vegan, I'm always trying to find more places I can eat. This mom and pop shop uses no oil and no MSG, and the food was amazing with decent prices and portions and they were able to make my Noodles with Vegetable dish with their yakisoba noodles instead of chow mein, which is egg-based. Please support small businesses at this time! The owners of this grill have lost about 80% of their revenue as the offices in the area are closed, so if you're looking for good food (like a u-grill from a food court, but better), come check them out! read more

What a surprising place... Small location looks like it's family owned. Dishes are really flavorful and good!! Portion is really big too! I would definitely come back! Nothing is cooked in oil.. Tasty, cheap food, with good portions. That said, you have to manage your expectations a bit when coming here. Most of the dishes indeed do taste like minor variations of the same dish, with some exceptions for certain specials. This is because they have a single teriyaki sauce that they will use for most of their dishes. However, you do get quite a bit of tasty chicken and vegetables, so if thats why you're expecting, you will be satisfied. Was looking for a quick, easy and cheap dinner and voila Yelp led me here. The couple behind the counter were very nice and gracious. I had the shrimp teriyaki... It wasn't exactly what I imagined it would be (little more soupy of a sauce) but it was quite nice. Lots of shrimp in it and the spice was great. My husband got the beef and broccoli. Veggies were very crisp. The portions were massive. Like dinner/lunch/another dinner quantities. Certainly good value for the money... Was it the most epic meal I've ever had ... No. But for the price and the kind service it well exceeded expectations. I would return when looking for quick meal that doesn't feel terrible in the health department. read more
