My go to spot! Everytime me and my gf go out we start out saying we are gonna try a new place or a place we dont go to often but we usually end up here! Yummy food. It's very delicious. I went here with my brother and it was definitely worth it. I will say, some of the chicken dishes are over-breaded and over-sauced, but that is typical with most buffets. When I'm really, really hungry I enjoy Super King Buffet immensely. I think they do an excellent job cooking their vegetables to be crispy and bright, given the challenges of the buffet format. The sushi is usually the standard California Roll fare but I have been there when they have had raw salmon and tuna. There are a wide variety of dishes- steamed mussels on the half shell, clams in black bean sauce, poached salmon, frog legs to the usual General Tso, Sesame Chicken and uninspired pizza. read more

I used to come here with my family many times when I was younger but as time flew by, the quality of the food went downhill. Recently, my husband and I decided to come here and while he was eating he started to feel sick then when he got home he threw up everywhere. Never coming here again. A friend recommended Super King Buffet to me for my dad, sister, and me. We were completely overwhelmed by the choices, quality, freshness, and hospitality. We have been back several times in the past two months and plan to go regularly. We HIGHLY recommend it and have to MANY people who agree with our evaluation. Even though many of the staff don't speak much English, they are kind, helpful, and responsive. For the price + quality of food, I don't know how they could offer more service and stay in business. Oh, and I love the little sign that says something like, "Please don't waste; only take what you will eat." Well decided to check out this place since I was in the area and it had good reviews. The buffet exceeded my expectations. There was a big variety for a lunch menu. They had shrimp, crab cakes, fried fish(seemed very high quality), great soup, and a bunch of other stuff. The thing that surprised me the most was actually the sushi. I have been to a couple sushi places here is Portland. Of course it wasn't as high quality as a sushi place but it was damn good and honestly it was decently close but all of them were a but spicy even without that sauce. Price was moderate, I paid $8.50 for lunch, no drink. Dinner is $12 something but heard they have crab and salmon. Will have to go back for dinner. read more

I have eaten at Super King Buffet three times in the past three months and each time I go it is even more disappointing, disappointing, disappointing. The buffet closes at 10PM. I arrived at 9PM on a Saturday evening and the staff was already breaking down the serving tables and no longer refreshing the choices. I felt I was eating left-overs. I mentioned this to the host and hostess and I even pointed out the selections that were missing. One staff member replaced on item I wanted but none of the other items were replenished. I pointed out that the wonton soup had no wontons and a staffer added a few wontons which were not wontons ... just the wonton wrappings that fell apart into a jellied mass when they hit the hot stock. I could go on and on how disappointed I am. I hope management takes note. I won't be returning too soon. Sad. read more

Not the best Chinese food, but for the price and it being a buffet you really can't complain. They have a large variety of different foods to choose from. I enjoyed the clams, salmon, and desert like the apple turnover. Not everything there is of the same quality so you'll have to try a little to find the things that are good to you. I'd say more of a solid 3.5 stars. Knowing how busy this place gets, for the pricing during dinner they're being slightly greedy, but the food itself is not bad at all, huge selection which is awesome and lots of veggies and sea food as well, lunch is a little more limited but still have great stuff for $9.95. The building is as large as it looks so it's great for groups. I love that they make the banana covered in that sauce, so simple yet so good, and the Asian donuts holy hell yeah! Visited Portland in June of 2019 and this buffet was excellent!! A huge variety of my favorite chinese chicken & teriyaki dishes. Plenty of choices for sides, entrees, desserts all for an excellent price of $10.50 for the lunch buffet! The value this place provides for such a minimal cost is outstanding. This place is a dump. The service was great - seated quickly, drinks refilled, easy out - but it's totally not worth it because of the awful food. I tried so many of the dishes on the buffet, and it all had an odd taste. Much of it wasn't hot. They couldn't even figure out how to make chow mein or fried rice, even those basic things tasted bad. Every major city has a budget Chinese buffet sitting on the outskirts of an industrial and/or international district. For Portland it is Super King Buffet, a comfortable family buffet restaurant in an old building half surrounded by large custom wood picture windows. It's hard to miss. You'll find people of all demographics eating here. There are just as many black, white and hispanic patrons as there are Asians. For $14 bucks you have access to unlimited common Chinese food fare, some budget sushi rolls, salmon and tuna nigiri, mussels, shrimp, steak, clams, fried fish, fried chicken, pizza, ribs, several dim sum items, and a dessert bar. The food quality is slightly above Panda Express and sometimes the desserts are a bit old.... but for $14 it is definitely a steal. The staff here are very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend this buffet if you're really hungry and on a budget, or if you have lots of kids to feed. They are very family friendly. read more

This place is probably one of my biggest guilty pleasures. I have literally had 5 plates one time. I think i get so excited about everything available (like a kid in a candy store) that i overlook the actual quality of the food. I haven't had anything bad and i can say the octopus stir fry, sushi, seafood soup, bok choy, salad bar and plantains are super good! Great selection of deserts including an ice cream machine. On vacation in Portland and searched up "seafood buffets" - this one comes up, overwhelmingly positive reviews, so I figure we will give it a try. The drinks (iced tea) were cloudy and dirty tasting, the buffet's only seafood was a small selection of sushi and cooked salmon. Then, the food itself wasn't too good. Rarely if ever will I do a buffet, because the food is often overabundant but bland. And that definitely describes my 'super king' experience. Perhaps it was just a case of bad timing just before lunch, but certain things (like the inedible sushi) sealed super kings fate for me. This place is for power eaters and food-a-holics which you'll be exposed to in the dreary back dining section like I was (and it's not pretty) perhaps it was my mood, but the generic, low quality, bottom of the barrel vibe in everything from the food to the decor gets to be a bit much after about ten minutes. Perhaps that is what the coy pond is for; to balance out the dreary vibe that seems to engulf you before you're even full.
