Literally, the BEST hidden gem in Savannah! My fiancé and I have been going here since we first started dating, so obviously it is a favorite of mine. The owner is very sweet, and she obviously cares about her restaurant and the customers because she knows us by name and our order! The restaurant itself is very clean, and it sort of small but its perfect to order take out or delivery (they only deliver downtown). I highly recommend the MISO SOUP. It is literally the best miso soup I have ever had in any of the asian restaurants i've been to in my life and I grew up in Houston TX with a very large asian community there with great authentic food! The Godzilla Roll and the Philadelphia roll are my top picks, but really any of their specialty sushi rolls are to die for!--the volcano roll is also amazing!! I love Super Tastes. I go probably once a week, and I always get the same thing (though I've tried other items on the menu and everything is great). Tonight we found Super Tastes Japanese Restaurant. It is a little place in a shopping center - nothing remarkable from the outside. But what a surprise!!! It was absolutely incredible. The Black Mountain Top roll was so flavorful. This was followed by the Pork Ramen. The broth was so rich and delicious. The boiled egg was the best boiled egg I have eaten in my entire life. We might just be coming back tomorrow night for dinner. This little "hole in the wall" knocked it out of the park. read more

I think this is the best sushi spot in Savannah! Other sushi restaurants just can't compete with this place's food quality and reasonable prices. Every time I come here, the food is always consistently tasting great. They have lunch special prices all day which is great because no other restaurants do that. You can get two simple rolls for like $7 and it comes with a soup or salad. Pretty filling and it's an awesome deal for that amount of food! I was a server at a high end sushi restaurant in Chicago so I have pretty high standards for food quality and service. Sashimi/nigiri quality is good, nothing special but good and has generous thick cuts. Presentation of dishes can be improved but I know that this is a family run business so presentation may not be their focus. Service, on the other hand, is a bit iffy. They have a little boy as their main server. Looks barely 12 years old. Big attitude, not very attentive, and gets table orders confused all the time. As a server, these are the characteristics you DON'T want. I'm giving 4 stars only because I believe this place has a lot of potential if they maybe hire older staff/servers. Just personally seemed weird that a child so young was handing me food like how he was doing. Also, think this place has a lot of potential if they considered remodeling the interiors and or giving it a makeover because the atmosphere is cozy, yes, but seems a bit dirty, old, and the ambience can definitely be improved. We stumbled across this place in search of Japanese food. Just walking around Savannah in need of good hibachi and we were very impressed from this place. The four of us (2 couples) were the only ones in the restaurant. The waitress was very soft spoken and polite. I ordered the hibachi chicken, and my husband ordered the teryaki chicken, both lunch specials which means they come with soup or salad. I got the mushroom soup and it was typical with little slices of mushrooms in a clear broth. The hibachi chicken came with fried rice and mixed veggies. The shrimp sauce (which you have to ask for) was a little runny, but tasted very good, just different. My husbands came in a bowl with teryaki sauce at the bottom and a bowl of white rice. He's attempting to better his chopstick "skills" so I don't think the rice was eaten in the sauce like it was meant to be, but he said everything was delicious. My first impression was that this place looked incredibly clean. Good chopsticks are a tell tale sign that a restaurant means business and these guys fit that. The waitress was attentive, helped us with the some what confusing (I mean really vague) menu. The lunch special was really what brought us in. My fiancé and I both had the chicken and steak hibachi and the chicken was chewy, the steak was way over done (not that the 12 year old waiter asked us how we'd like it cooked), then asked how others how they would like theirs cooked. Honestly the only thing that was good was the salad, which had ginger which is generally not my favorite but this one was pretty good. The soup that came out with it was something like beef bouillon with a mushroom sliver and some chives and some chunks of something bitter in the bottom. So I have been eating at kanpai for as long as I've been eating sushi. I didn't think any restaurant could beat kanpai- until I decided to try super tastes. The atmosphere is very relaxing and soft, calming but pretty music played in the background. We got a complimentary appetizer (two small spring rolls and sauce) The prices seemed very reasonable and I ordered the wonderful roll. It was perfect!! My virgin Yelp review goes to this awful expierence. The chewy yellow tail and salmon sashimis we ordered are not only from the worst part of the fish but also just about to turn. The price is cheap indeed. So nothing much should be blamed on those sashimis. Those sweat shrimps were things really annoyed us. We ordered them because they are 'today's special', yet comes with a stinky smell and a persihing color. We called the owner, but she refused to admit the quality of the food and with an agressive attitude. So we ended up leaving the restaurant with anger and disappointment and a plate of sweat shrimp untouched. I've been here three times (twice to pick up takeout, and once to sit down and eat) so far, and I fully intend on coming back. Everything I've gotten here has been delicious: the edamame, the miso soup, the teriyaki chicken lunch, the steak and scallop hibachi lunch, the super roll. My friend ordered the seafood ramen (I don't eat pork, so I didn't sample it), and she said it was the best ramen she's gotten in a restaurant since moving down here. The atmosphere is really good, too: it's a small place, but it's not claustrophobic. I'm sure it gets crowded when the lunch and dinner rushes happen, but I've managed to miss those so far. I'm also really happy with the service. The boy who's usually working behind the counter is really on top of things, considering how busy he is (hosting, busing, waiting). We had a lovely experience, our stay in Savannah was made complete by our encounter with the sons of the owner who were the wait staff for the day. They are closed on Saturdays, I imagine to spend time with their kids, but open on Sunday, when the kids help out. The food was great and the oldest son handled his job as well as any 10 year old could. We loved it! The Nigiri was fresh and generous, the fried rice was full of fresh veggies. The surprise spring roll was nice too. Kudos to the parents who are teaching these boys the value of work. Had a great experience at Super Tastes - visiting in Savannah, and this was like eating at the Asian version of Mrs. Wilkes. The family running this restaurant are so sweet and personable. Both of the kids help out and interact with the customers - they will go far with their skills. The food was wonderful, and the pricing was more than affordable. I would have given them more stars for the food if the service had not been so bad. Took almost half an hour to get our food as our waiter did not put in our order. The only other female server was busting her tail to make up for our servers lack of effort on his part. When our food came it was wrong but we told HER (as she brought our food and apologized for the wait) that it was ok and we would accept it as is. HE on the other hand wanted to blame us for the wrong order, digging back through his yellow striped notebook. She even went so far as to make an additional roll that we were missing. We didn't get to eat it though as our server once again came over to chastise us that the mistake was ours. He then proceeded to begin clearing our table and dumped the utensils in our laps. At that point we went to the register to pay our bill and left. As far as the restaurant is concerned, there are missing and water stained ceiling tiles, ripped booths; and we dined with customers who brought in their dogs. Not exactly conducive to a great meal. If I could give this a negative star review I would. For starters we sat at a dirty table, the child came and cleaned of off ferociously( he couldn't have been more than 8) an older waitress threw, literally threw, silverware down at our table. Our drinks were flat, when the child took our order he literally sat down next to me and was looking on my phone at the video I was watching. Well the food is awesome, it's become a regular take out place for my roommate and I. It seems to be a family run business, which is great until you get this 10 year old kid they have employed. To put it politely: he needs a lot more supervision because he's being rude to customers. Went here for dinner in Savannah and we were absolutely in heaven. The sushi was priced great, the preparation time was super fast, the presentation was awesome, the quantities were large, taste was delicious, and there was a great selection of speciality rolls that were unique to this restaurant. You would never know it was this great by the look of the place. Our favorite rolls were the summer roll topped with banana and the angel roll filled with spicy tuna. We ate every single bite of the six rolls we ordered and wanted to go back the next day for more! Our server was super nice and she always had a smile on her face.
