The following review: Service - An employee by the name of Colin, who helped me at the register and take my order was very friendly, welcoming, and very patient with me. He was able to explain things to me on the menu while I was trying to decide on things. Food - I ordered, a bowl of rice, gyoza, chicken karaage, a tonkatsu ramen with char siu. Everything was well cooked, tasted great, the gyoza and chicken was nice hot and crispy. Ambiance - I'm not really an anime person but I appreciate the overall idea and concept. Yatai ramen. They have advertising on the table that says if you mention staff on a google or Yelp review the staff member will get a $5 tip on the restaurant. Hopefully that's true. Verenice was the BEST! Give that girl a raise or a promotion! She was doing it all! From taking orders, bringing food out, and cleaning up tables! She helped us navigate the menu/ordering. She also brought out our food to the table and was so helpful during our first time here. There were lots of ramen options to choose from. You choose your broth and meat option and that tells you your price. You can add extra toppings for additional costs. Runs about less than $20 a person. They have fountain drink options as well as other Asian drinks. They have rice bowl options as well as meat on a stick. They don't have kids meal options but it's about $8 for noodles and broth. Which is a good option for kids. I ordered shoyu broth for my son. I didn't realize it would taste so salty. I understand it's a soy sauce broth. But most ramen broths I've had isn't to that degree. I asked if they could add hot water to the hot water to make it less salty. Verenice again was so helpful, she brought the ramen back out and said if I needed more water added to just ask. I will say I did not appreciate the additional comments from some of the kitchen staff. The place is decorated with lots of anime characters. They have a vending machine with goodies. A claw machine with stuffed animals and lots of Pokémon cards for sale. read more

I was craving some hot soup and decided to visit Yatai for a bowl of ramen. The restaurant has an anime theme, with episodes running on the TVs and paintings adorning the walls. The service was good. You place your order at the counter and pay before finding a seat. However, the food was a bit underwhelming. The tonkotsu ramen was mediocre and would have been better if it had been served steaming hot. The fish cake skewers were also okay. Overall, I wasn't very impressed with the food. The ambiance was nice. Decor was pretty with all the animes playing on tv. You have to order and pay before you're seated. I think the ramen and broth is pretty good. Their bao buns are good. Their fried rice was HORRIBLE. It tasted like only soy sauce and it was inedible for me. My sister got the udon stir fry and it lacked a lot of flavor. Honestly tasted like noodles thrown in oil. It was freezing out when I went in, and this place absolutely hit the spot. The food was perfect for the weather. I ordered the udon and it was on point, especially with the red miso base, which I'd highly recommend. The tofu was also really good. Wow! This was better than I thought it'd be. I ordered from YATAI Ramen + Yakitori upon arrival in Savannah. Essentially what happened is I was dead tired from driving nearly five hours. My plan was to order food to my hotel, shower, and get ready for bed. I wound up doing exactly that. The question then because what exactly to order. I figured I'd order something light or as light as possible, which in my case is usually a salad or a soup. As I didn't crave a salad, soup seemed like the best option and I immediately thought ramen. I searched that up on Uber Eats and Yelp to boot and chose YATAI Ramen + Yakitori mainly because they had great reviews. That and upon reading reviews, I learned that they did BYO or build your own for the ramen bowls. Consider me intrigued. I wound up choosing a tonkotsu base and added marinated, grilled chicken, along with seaweed, a soft-boiled egg, and corn to the noodles of my choosing: ramen ones, of course, although they had pasta and udon as other tempting choices. Delicious doesn't begin to cover this bowl. It was piping hot and hearty and made for two meals. I was ecstatic. I will admit though that it could've been seasoned more, but that's what condiments are for and I didn't ask for any as I didn't think my stomach was up to par that day. I'd be curious to go to the actual location as they hit it out of the park with an online order alone. read more

This was my first experience. I'm typically a Pho kind of girl. So I wasn't quite sure what to expect or compare it too. To order you go up to a counter and place your order. They provide you with a number, you seat yourself and someone brings your food out to you. The staff were super friendly and helpful as we had lots of questions about what things were. The food was good, some items weren't for me, but otherwise it was savory and well paired. Overall the experience was great. We would be back if we are ever in the area again. read more

This place was right across from the hotel I was staying at in Savanah. The way it works is that you order at the counter and then take a seat and wait for the server to bring over your meal. The ramen is pretty customizable; you choose your broth, noodle, protein, and extra toppings. I got ramen with tonkatsu broth, udon noodles, and steak. The broth was pretty good in my option and I really like how they had condiments at the table to add more spice to the dish. I think the only critique is that the portion of noodles and protein is relatively small compared to the amount of broth. The place incorporates a lot of anime in its decor with murals of different anime characters across the walls. They even have a couple TVs set up playing different anime shows so if you're into that I think you'd really like this place! read more

Came to visit some friends and they took us here. It was FANTASTIC. We played on the crane machines, got Pokémon cards and Pocky out of the vending machine, and my ramen was delicious. The team was fast and friendly and we enjoyed being surrounded by murals and episodes of our favorite anime. Definitely worth a visit anytime and I wish we had more of this in Atlanta! read more

I came here with friends on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the veggie ramen with kimchi and a bowl of edamame for the table. The ramen had a lot of veggies (which is great) and the spicy miso was delicious, but there was not a lot of noodles and the soup was warm (not hot). I would have loved for it to be hot, and then it would have been perfect. I'll come back and try it again, in hopes that the broth is hotter. read more

This restaurant isn't allergy friendly and offers a very limited selection of items if you have a gluten/dairy free allergy. The menu is marked gluten free for items but there is a different between items being gluten free for an allergy and being gluten free for an intolerance and there was only one lady out of the whole staff that understood the difference. Which is a problem. They offer a glass noodle instead of a gluten free ramen noodle which has no flavor and is meant more for cold/stir fry dishes than soup. I got the chicken both which had zero flavor of chicken and tasted more like hot water and the mushrooms that were in my bowl with the vegetables option, since the seafood was the only other option that wasn't pre-marinated with soy sauce. The fish cakes, boiled egg & bamboo shoots are also not gluten free which means I basically got a bowl of mushroom soup in water and no seasoning. read more

This is a cute spot on Barnard St. It seems small on the outside but it holds a good amount of tables inside. You come in, grab a menu from the front to look over and to place your order you have to go to the counter where they give you a number to bring back to the table so that they can bring your food out. All of the employees were very friendly and open. It is a quick service location so a lot of the food came out within 5-10 minutes of us ordering. We ordered some fried gyoza and two Tonkotsu ramens with chasu pork. The Fried gyoza was delicious and crispy. The sauce was a bit tart but it complemented the filling. * 2 Tonkotsu ramen with Chasu (as is) * Broth was flavorful without being too heavy. Tonkotsu broth was made of pork and chicken. The chasu was good, it only came with two, fairly thin slices. The toppings were well balanced and added to the flavor. So, if you are over a certain age, as I am, you may want to google "classic anime" if you want some understanding of this restaurants theme. I won't say this place quite caters to a younger crowd (there were several middle aged patrons in addition to me); but, to truly "get it" it helps to know something of the charactors that adorn every wall in the place. So, I believe "casual" is a fitting way to describe the atmosphere. My daughter and her boyfreind recommended this spot; and, they're usually right; so, here we were. Addimittedly, I was having visions of those twenty five cent blocks of pasta with a salt packet that you can find at any supermarket; but, having been assured otherwise, I ordered the pork stir fry with udon noodles, and the tokoyaki (indescibably delicious octupus balls). Please note that ordering and payment is done at the counter. If you are going to tip, that's the time to do it. Both my daughter and her boyfriend let me know that it is a social faux pas to leave cash on the table, in this establishment. In any case, the food was ready in ten minutes, served hot and promptly. My daughter had the creamy garlic broth udon with shrimp tempora; and her boyfriend had the tonjeato broth udon, with grilled chicken. So, how was it? Well, I gave them a five star rating, so what do you think? The udon noodles were firm and tasty, bathed in a flavor packed broth that had just the right consitency. Add broccolli pieces and a generous amount of boiled pork (bacon) and each bite,or slurp, as the cas may be, left me anticipating the next. But, the crowning acheivement was the tokayaki. Crispy on the outside, with a creamy, tangy inside, this side dish was course to beat. I spite of the fact that I had initially lamented that my meal was the smallest, I was fully satisfied after having finished it. At just over fifty two dollars, for all three meals, mind you, I would have to say I was under charged; but, I won't complain. read more

Food was pretty good. Hubby got the shoyu ramen and my son had the seafood ramen.They finished it pretty quickly so it must have been good. I had the shrimp udon stir fry. Good flavor. I ate it all. My only complaint is that the shrimp still had the tails. I detest reaching into a sauced dished to have to manually remove the shrimp tails. The interior is all anime and brick and industrial. What happens when you get a crossover of anime, noodles, and excellent decor? YATAI Ramen has all of that. Located in downtown Savannah, this casual eatery has a good selection of delicious ramen with equally excellent sides. I ordered the Chashu Pork with extra udon noodles and miso soup. It is a more filling variation of the standard noodles served but nonetheless it's pretty good. My favorite dish are the takoyakis though. They're are so good. It has no reason to be this delicious and yet it's better than most places that I've had back in California. The dough is fried super well and the texture inside has the perfect balance between the crunchy exterior and soft but flavorful interior. The Chicken Karaage was plenty crunchy too. A little drier than other places but I'll let them pass because that's not their specialty. Overall, loved the spot. Would go again just for the Takoyakis tbh. read more
