big, nice, sprawling and relaxing place to have a bite. there is a lovely outdoor courtyard, or you can eat inside in what feels like a rustic / modern farmhouse space. by that i mean open ceilings, beams, lots of 'raw' style. its all elegant, relaxing, and has an upscale touch. came for a casual business meeting around 6pm and it was the perfect ambience and setting. didn't have a TON to eat since biz is biz and i don't want spinach in my teeth. but the fish i had, and the appetizer ceasar salad my colleague and i shared, plus some vodka drink i forget what it was (if i forget it must have done the trick), were all very good. service was colorful and lovely (a very varied cast haha). a huge variety of diners, families, etc, all clearly enjoying themselves which says a lot about the place. highly recommended. ps - there is no parking on sunset 4-7pm so, you have to hunt down a space on a side street if you come early! and there are some parking limits ie 1 hour, 2 hour... depending on how close you park. i think i parked on wilcox on an off street and it was like 3 blocks away but its fine bc u should walk after you eat! read more

Server was friendly and even shared which items are full portions for DineLA! ~First Course~ Parker House Rolls Went with this bc they are known for bread. It is similar to Hawaiian rolls and tastes great, but I don't think it was necessary to eat this here. The store bought ones, after some prep, can be comparable. Roasted Meatballs might be more money worth for the 1st course because of portion! Comes with a slice of focaccia bread. But the bread came a little cold so wasn't the best tasting. ~Main Course ~ Crispy Skinned Rainbow Trout Amaze amaze amaze. Would order this again! The trout was perfectly seasoned and cooked just right, flakey and tender. Not dry at all, which is my biggest pet peeve against fish. Superba Hollywood gets a lot right aesthetically, but the dining experience left us wondering whether the restaurant is more focused on finding new things to charge for than serving good food. My mom ordered a biscuit. The server asked whether she wanted butter, and she also requested jam. There was no mention that either would cost extra, yet the bill included $1.50 for butter and $1.25 for jam. I ordered the double cheeseburger and asked for a slice of tomato. That added another $1.50. Then, on top of everything else, every table is charged a 3% "Happy + Healthy" surcharge. I expected to pay extra for oat milk in my chai because it was clearly listed on the menu and that's become fairly standard. The "Happy + Healthy" surcharge was also listed on the menu. The butter, jam, and tomato were another story. Those charges weren't disclosed when we ordered and felt like an unpleasant surprise at the end of a mediocre meal. Unfortunately, the food didn't justify the nickel-and-diming. The "crispy" breakfast potatoes arrived whole, not cut into pieces, and were firmer than crispy. The chai had an odd aftertaste. The burger was overly salty, and the biscuit tasted like it had been sitting around since the day before. It certainly wasn't warm or fresh from the oven. The cleanliness was also disappointing. The seat cushion where my mom was supposed to sit was visibly dirty. When we pointed it out, our server explained that guests sometimes bring dogs or put their feet on the cushions and that they try to clean them weekly. Weekly isn't enough. We were the first customers of the morning and the only people there when we arrived, so it would have been easy to seat us somewhere clean. To be fair, the courtyard is beautiful, and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The cinnamon sticky bun was pretty good, but it was a little overdone so the bottom was quite hard. The patio is so darn cute and even used for movies & shows sometimes - a friend of mine filmed this week there! It's truly a beautiful space and feels so relaxing when dining there. I had dinner with a friend here and we loved everything we had. Service was the perfect level - kind but not over~the~top, checking in just the right amount, making sure we were well taken care of. Clean bathrooms, too, haha! Now the drinks and eats! I absolutely loved my Pecan Cold Brew (6.50) and was surprised to see such an option at dinner! It was perfect. My friend had the beautiful Ginger Thyme Lemonade ($6.50) which was also just delicious. I highly recommend everyone try their 'Selection of freshly baked breads with all 4 spreads' for $29 if it's your first visit in. It's a filling starter of a few of their breads (the pre-buttered & chives topped charred levain was exquisite as is - no notes!) and a few of their toppings. My personal favorite of the toppings was the fresh cheese with honey & salsa macha - our server said it was their favorite, too - but there wasn't a bad topping in the lot. Butter + Salt was simple but lovely. The Charred Eggplant spread was sweet in a good way with walnuts and pomegranate molasses. The smoked trout was nice to have a meaty option with smoked onions mixed in, topped with roe. We had the Bluefin Tuna Carpaccio ($27) starter which was light but beautiful with meyer lemon, chives, sea salt, and sourdough crisps. Came here after doing a quick search for a dinner spot near the Fonda Theatre, and I'm so glad we did! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but the outdoor patio is where it's at. It's intimate and charming with a fountain, lanterns hanging from the trees, plenty of greenery, and cute bistro tables. Even on a warm evening, it was really comfortable outside. They're known for their bread, so we started with the recommended $10 bread and butter sampler, and the bread topped with cheese and green onions was absolutely incredible. Just don't make the same mistake we did and fill up on the bread before your meal! We also ordered the Brussels sprouts, and I highly recommend them. They were crispy with a delicious balsamic glaze. I'd never had Brussels sprouts with grapes before, but they added the perfect touch of sweetness. For my entrée, I had the steak frites. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, exactly as I ordered, and for some reason their fries were just really, really good. My husband ordered the thick noodle pesto pasta, which was also amazing. The only thing I'd mention is that it doesn't come with a protein, but since I had plenty of steak, we shared. The cocktails were delicious and beautifully presented. If I had one small critique, it's that almost everything we ordered was on the salty side. We definitely drank a lot of water afterward, but honestly we still cleaned every plate because it was that good! Overall, I'd absolutely come back. Came in for lunch with a group of 6 on a Wednesday during DineLA. Since we made a reservation ahead of time, our table ready to go. We sat outside in the beautiful patio with plenty of share from the trees. Biggest challenge sitting outside during a February heat wave was the falling leaves and pollen on plates and in drinks. To start, I had the Fried Brussel Sprouts were yummy - the grapes added a nice sweetness and the pecorino gave the right hit of saltiness. My main was the Umami Salmon Bowl, which was a 9 out of 10, my salmon was done a bit too much on one side of the fish, but the glaze in it was delicious. The grilled broccoli added some smokiness, the pickled daikon added a crunch, and the kimchi added a spicy freshness. For dessert, I ordered the Butter Pecan Ice Cream with an amazing praline crunch. We parked across the street and from the outside it doesn't look like much, but once you see all of the outside seating and how beautiful it looks inside, you will be impressed! Service was great! Okay I'm updated to four stars because my eggs weren't hot, just barely warm, when I tried the cheesy toast. AND the seasonal pumpkin pie is lackluster. Crust was soooo oily. Plus the filling was super mushy and I like my pumpkin pie to be slightly firm, just enough so that it holds shape when you cut it. They have a lovely outdoor patio with umbrellas with shade and an equally gorgeous indoors, where we sat. One downside of our experience were the flys during the earlier part of our meal. We ordered the turkey sandwich, chicken sandwich, and chilaquiles. The setting was more impressive than the food. The chilaquiles chips were already soggy and may have been sitting out before it was sent to the table because there was very little warmth to the dish. The chicken sandwich was underwhelming. The turkey sandwich did come with a generous portion of avocado. Over all I gave 3 stars, but if I were to break it down, it would look something like this: 5 stars for ambiance, 5 stars for service, 2 stars for quality of food and silverware. Hazel made us one of the best old fashions we've ever had and Chef Shaun not only made us a fabulous meal but ended our night by bringing us amazing banana tarte tartin. Highly recommend the brussel sprouts and bolognese, but we loved it all. They took care of us all night and the level of service everyone provided was some of the best I've had in LA. I loved that the tables were spaced so that one can carry on a conversation without being heard by the people from the other tables. Service - was excellent. Server was attentive, cheerful and friendly. Food - we ordered avocado toast, roasted tomatoes, tuna melt sandwich, breakfast burrito and ham omelet with salmon on the side. We had coffee, hot chocolate and chai teas. I was disappointed with the tuna sandwich. They toasted the bread and it was hard. My hubby thought his omelet was just okay. Completely unexpected and tucked away right on Sunset. The patio is what you come for. It's quiet and secluded and you'd never know you're in the center of LA. That is after you find parking in the neighborhood or have to valet. Service was top notch. Through the whole meal there was always somebody around but not overly intrusive or checking in too much. Food was delicious. The ginger thyme lemonade was a great start - fresh and unexpected.
