I give this Supercuts two stars because I've found it to be VERY hit and miss. The haircuts are usually decent and professional. One nice stylist there spent an hour taking a knot out of my daughter's hair (of course I tipped her very well). But I've found they are all about the bottom line and not usually about customer service. The front desk person is usually abrupt and rude. Another time my daughter had a knot in her hair, they were very busy and the stylist REFUSED to help her (even though I would have given her a huge tip). I feel they are all about churning out haircuts and really lack customer service. Moreover they are NOT cheap! Maybe for a men's haircut or a kid under ten, but not for women. To get my 12-year-old daughter's hair shampooed, cut, and blow-dried there, it ends up being about $100. I could take her to an upscale salon where she gets free water and tea and is treated nicely, for about that price. Moreover, the last time my daughter went there, she ended up with LICE! We aren't completely sure she got it from that Supercuts, but the timing worked out perfectly. It may have come from a brush or the chair (since they work with so many little kids). So I'm done with Supercuts for my daughter. Beware of lice! read more

Valentino, the manager of this store, is without question, the absolute worst cosmetologist in existence. My review is the same as the rest. He slams a haircut in less than 3 minutes with complete disregard for quality. He's screwed up my hair twice, my kids twice, and everyone I know in Aliso Viejo who had the misfortune to have him call their name. I decided to go here after reading about Janelle. However, she is no longer there. That was ok though, because I met Cindy instead. I went in on my lunch hour and Cindy worked her magic! I had long thin hair for years and it was time for a change. I had decided on an A-line, graduated bob, and she did just that, with a style and blow dry. When she was done I looked great, felt fabulous, and still had 30 minutes for lunch. A couple days earlier I had gone to another Carlton in Westminster, CA and the stylist said the cut I wanted was, get this, too edgy for my look, and she didn't feel comfortable putting her name on it. Excuse Me! Did I just get told I was not cool enough to pay you for the style I wanted. Let me tell you, since Cindy did my hair yesterday, i have received so many compliments on my hair. My aunt that hates women with short hair even said it looks great on me, and that she can't get over how nicely the look frames my face. now that is really a compliment coming from her. read more

The haircut and wash I received at Supercuts in Aliso Viejo a few weeks ago was performed by, my longtime hairstylist of five years, Valentino. I often call ahead to reserve a time. Usually, if it is an evening, it can be quite busy and he may not be able to take me if I don't plan to arrive before 7PM. Weekends can be tough too except in the early afternoon. I paid 17 dollars for the haircut and 9 dollars for the shampoo and rinse. They use Tea Tree products for the wash which I have found has a burning sensation, my particular response. So let them know before the wash that you would like a different product if your scalp is sensitive. They will accommodate your preferences. Valentino understood what kind of cut and look I wanted after we discussed it. He was able to communicate well what I was to expect before he began the cut. He is funny and will chat, but if you are tired as I have been after work, he won't gab on boring you to death. He is the only hairstylist that I have used at this location. Overall my experience with Valentino and Supercuts of Aliso Viejo is a positive one. He instills confidence in his approach to hairstyling. He understands what you are looking for and doesn't expect you to be the person giving the directions step by step as I have found at other salons. This is probably the most important aspect of his service. It is a friendly shop and they keep the store clean and offer products at a reasonable price considering that it's a hair salon. I just went to get a haircut by Valentino. The lady that checked me in said he went to pick up his brother he will be back in 20min. While I am waiting another guys shows up and they tell him he is at lunch and his next haircut wont be until 3 o'clock. I waited 40min for him to show up, and once he walks in he takes a guy who just arrived 5min ago. Won't be going there anymore that's for sure. read more

So my baby started building his own collection of my hair, and I knew it was time to get a chop. I am so glad I read the reviews and chose this place over a more expensive one! :) I made an appointment with the much praised Valentino, and was not disappointed! He is very friendly, and knows his stuff. He is willing to listen and cut your hair exactly how you want it, but also offers friendly suggestions. I felt like we worked together and I got this awesome and adorable Lob (long bob). I love that it is light, and layered, and doesn't feel too mom-ish. It is honestly salon-quality, and was only $19 (I got a Supercuts $2 off coupon from signing up for their emails online). On a side note, I love how clean this location was. They had people constantly cleaning as they cut. And one stylist dropped a comb on the floor, and they grabbed another clean one out of a drawer instead of picking up and using the comb again. Now that is hygiene! I will be coming back again, and I will be requesting Valentino again! read more

Beware of extra fees.... I got a shampoo, haircut, and blow dry. They price it separately. The shampoo is $5, the haircut is $21. I think the haircut it's probably (hopefully) good -- I haven't washed my hair yet. The blow dry was very expensive. After my hair was cut, it wasn't even shoulder length. The blow dry was $25!!! So my bill was $51 plus tip. HUGE SHOCK. The styling isn't amazing....I touched it up at home... I certainly never imagined blow drying could be $25. I'm on a budget so definitely far more than I expected to pay. read more

I am a 78 year old male and still have a healthy head of hair. After many years of searching for a reliable, dependable and reasonable hair salon I finally found it here. The staff are friendly, responsive, cheerful and helpful and make me feel like one of the regulars (all younger than me). After calling ahead I almost never have to wait more than half an hour to get an appointment with my favorite hairdresser Ann. She is the only one I allow to cut my hair and she is always cheerful (talkative if I feel like talking) and really knows what she's doing. A true professional. My friends always compliment me on my haircut (and most importantly my wife). Should have looked at pricing. $31 for a beard trim and hair cut isn't bad but I usually get attention to detail for that price. I was literally in the chair for less than 10 minutes. I like straight blade shaping and a good fade for that price. I don't recommend this place to anyone looking for barbershop quality. Good for a Supercuts! I work in Laguna Beach and don't color my hair, just needed a trim and didn't want to spend $60+ on a simple trim. Made an appointment online and they took me right when I got in (yay for online appointments). They recommended a deep condition which only took 10 extra minutes, $11 and made my hair very soft. The gal who did my hair had an appointment right after me and opted to not fully blow dry my hair, which I didn't really like. The smell of shampoo/conditioner was also reminiscent of how my pups smell when they come home from the groomers... probably just a personal thing but I didn't care for that either. Overall though for a $25 wash and trim, it was good. read more

Not only did the worker said that would look ugly on me, when I asked her to do it anyways, she continues to hack of all my hair with no effort to make any similarity to the picture I showed her. We went to this place because it was the closest to us and have tried different stylists prior to this incident. Our experience with one stylist here who claimed to have 15years experience made me not want to risk going back to any Supercuts. My son's haircut (who was 12y/o was so bad (like sticking out all over the place) and when I asked for it to be fixed the stylist had such a bad attitude about it. I may not be an expert but I know what a "decent" haircut looks like and what was done certainly wasn't. read more
