So I usually don't have much to write about Supercuts, because ... you know ... they're all kinda the same. This one, however, has Mary ... and Mary is worth 4 stars. It's rare to find a beautician (is that the proper term?) who can make non-awkward conversation for a solid 20-30 minutes. Mary was upset about her now much shorter afro, but she kept me entertained for the entirety of my haircut - which btw looked great (got two compliments at work the day after). I took my daughter here today for a haircut for back to school. We had an appointment scheduled for 7:15 and instead of being greeted we were treated poorly by an employee. She asked me if I had an appointment I said yes, she then said did you already check in online or through the tablet they had up front. I asked if it would be easier for us to do it online vs in store she proceeded to give me an attitude and said "did you already check in ???!!!! I responded "Would this make a difference if we did or not we already arrived 20 minutes early" Her next question was " Were you all getting a haircut (I took all 4 of my kids) because there's only 2 of us working and there is 2 people ahead of you!!! I said just 1 person my daughter... I could feel this lady's frustration because she was irritated they got busy an hour before closing. She should not have took her ANGER out on us especially since we had an appointment. It was finally my daughter's turn to get her haircut, while waiting the other hair stylist told me to get lollipops for my kids ages 9,7,and 2 she began starring at my kids while they were choosing a lollipop she yelled again while she was cutting another child's hair and said "you guys need to take only 1 save candy for others!!! At this point I've had it with this UNPROFESSIONAL hair stylist! I took a picture for proof I did not catch her name. I will not ever take my kids here again!! UPDATE: My stylist Jamie is no longer here :(. But I found out she moved to Marina Del Rey, and she is worth the drive! If you find yourself walking in here, Jamie is who you want to be with. She's the only reason I walk in to this salon everytime. When it comes to hair, she knows exactly what she's doing and never fails to exceed my expectations. She has a great hand. With previous hair dressers my hair would always have a hard time growing but with Jamie, my hair grows out evenly, beautiful, and healthy and not to mention, when it comes to hair dying, my hair comes out incredible! No patches, no uneveness, no nothing. I've gone to high end hair salons and If I didn't know any better, I'd say they recruited her from one. Today i recieved a 7minute haircut.. Really!!!! I have long layered hair. I made an appointment for 3pm. When I walked in, they had forgotten to put me on the schedule. But they took me right away. The dim lighting inside the store should have been a sign that I was in for a world of disappointment. The apathetic attitude from the aesthetician should have been a red flag. I introduced myself and she (a mid 40s south East Asian woman with red hair) just said "oh okay" and pointed to the chair. I asked for a 0 low fade on the sides and back and 1/2" TRIM of the hair on top of my head. I explained how I comb my hair and I expressed that i wanted to keep the length on top. I got a high fade and she took too much off. I still tipped her even though my fade was crooked and longer on one side than the other. Can anyone suggest a good barber? I love Alicia! She not only has given me a great haircut (and how important a good haircut is to our state of mind!) but she repaired the horrible cut I had 6 weeks prior. My story: I went to Berlin on vacation with long hair, came home with a fabulous cut from the Aveda Salon on the Ku'Damm...I thought maybe an Aveda salon here would be able to maintain it...wrong! I got butchered. So I went to Alicia (who I have known for years...she is so dependable and also a lovely person) for repairs and a return to the wonderful cut I had come home with. UPDATE: This place has a high turnover, which I find annoying especially when I liked one particular person to cut my hair. I suggest going to the Hair Studio Salon located on South St. It is less expensive, and has 2-3 consistent stylist that cut great. It is reeeeally hard to find someone that trims your hair the way you want it done. Luckily I like how one particular stylist does my hair. I recommend going with Evelyn. She takes her time trimming and styling your hair unlike others who rush and leave you disappointed. She even guides you on what she is doing. Overall, the times I have gone to Supercuts they were positive. I'm also surprised at the child-friendly attitude the staff have... 'cause god so many parents take kids that are out of control yelling, screaming, crying, and making a mess with the magazines. It's embarrassing, but Supercuts staff is friendly enough to put up with it :) read more

I've been coming to this place for years now. I went to get my hair cut a few nights ago (I was looking for Veronica, but she wasn't there) and there was a group of girls waiting for a lady named Evelyn. I should have taken this as a sign and waited for her too but it was almost closing time and I didn't want to wait. The manager, I think her name is Alisha (don't know if I'm spelling it right) took me and sat me in her chair. All I wanted was to cut off the damaged ends and redo the layers. I don't know what happened but she left my hair looking horrible. Maybe because it was the end of the day, or she was tired, I don't know but I was very disappointed with my hair. When I straightened it I noticed that hair was very choppy, the layers were uneven, and the ends looked like they were cut by a 6 year old. I couldn't wear my hair straight for a few days because it was just not good to look at. So I came back today, and got my hair cut by Veronica. She is young but she is very knowledgeable about hair and she did an extremely good job last time so I had to get my hair cut by her again. I told her I didn't want anymore length cut off, just to fix my layers and the choppiness of the bad haircut. Which she did. I also asked her if my hair was in a v-shape or a u-shape and she said a v-shape. It's funny because when I got my hair cut by the manager I told her I wanted a u-shape and she said "okay" but I guess she never cut my hair into a "U"? So I told her I wanted a u-shape and she said that I couldn't because "something..something..something" I can't remember but she knows best :) I love hairdressers that don't do exactly what you want because that's not always best for you. My daughter has been coming to this Super Cuts and getting her hair cut by Sonia for about 2 years now. Sonia is amazing!!! She doesn't do a generic, one-cut-fits-all style but cuts according to my girl's hair type and texture. It's wash and wear (which is a good thing because my daughter doesn't necessarily like to add time to her morning routine by styling her hair). My daughter has requested different cuts over the years but every time Sonia creates a flattering, unique to my daughter hair style. My daughter loves it. I love it! Overall, very clean and welcoming salon. Convenient for those who want to knock out a hair cut and get some errands done at the mall. Jamie is, hands down, the best stylist I have been to in a while. This includes the high-end salons. My hair style is very disheveled and unorganized. For years I have been finding myself returning to the place where I get my hair cut because the stylist missed a spot or did not thoroughly cover all of my hairs. this place is HORRIBLE. rudest service i have ever had, to save money of course I went to Supercuts. I wanted to dye my hair with brown highlights. I showed the lady a picture (not sure what her name was, but she reminded me of that Dance Mom's lady, Abby Lee but with red hair) anyways, when i showed her a picture of what i wanted (literally straightforward) she rudely said, "oh so a balayage." She straight up said it was going to be 100 bucks. So I just went along with it, because how hard can it be to highlight hair? Ive done ombre's on myself with toner and lightening powder, this time I wanted it done professionally .. WRONG. The entire time she was "dyeing" my hair, it was very sloppy. Every-time she put my hair into tin foil and starting applying bleach.. she would miss parts. Now, it is my fault for speaking up but from the way she was speaking about her profession and experience, I thought she knew what she was doing. This certainly was not a balayage. She went on to saying she has been doing hair and cosmetics since she was 14-18.... but sis. if you've been doing hair since you were 14-18... you should know the popular trends, such as balayage, and how to DYE hair. She was acting like she was the god of hair but was actually an old white lady who was a babyboomer. She then goes on to say "i think we have to tone your hair".... you're ALWAYS suppose to tone dark hair when you highlight it or use bleach on it because it could turn brassy or red because of dark hair's undertone. At the end... my hair ended up looking like a goalie's soccer shirt. SO MANY stripes in my hair.. i looked like I was from the 90s! I also looked like a middle age mom going through a crisis. I looked like I was not a teenager. Also, I believe she's been working here forever. Her coworkers would ask for help and she would be incredibly rude. Shoutout to that girl with rainbow hair who was super nice to me even though she had a customer.. how could another stylist who is not MY own be nicer to me.
