I went into Supercuts asking for a low taper. Somehow I left looking like an upside-down coconut. Whoever cut my hair must've had a personal grudge against me because there's no way this was done with good intentions. It looks like they put a bowl on my head, shaved everything below it, then clocked out for lunch. I didn't get a fade--I got a cliff. The transition from hair to skin is more sudden than my will to live after seeing the back of my head. The barber skipped "blending" and went straight to "good enough." My haircut looks like a medieval monk and a mushroom had a baby. I asked for texture, not a helmet. The sides are so high I can probably hear Wi-Fi signals now. I walked outside and birds started trying to land on my head. My own reflection hit me with a "bro... what happened?" Even my mom, who usually says, "It'll grow back," had to leave the room because she couldn't stop laughing. I showed my friends and one of them asked if I lost a bet. Another asked if my barber was using Microsoft Paint as a reference photo. At this point, I'm not waiting for my hair to grow--I'm waiting for a formal apology. The only reason this gets one star is because zero stars wasn't an option. I was told upon entering they don't do ethnic hair. Funny thing is I used to go to Supercuts in Philadelphia every 3 months and white woman cut my hair with no problems. Its really unacceptable to use this type of tone and language when speaking to POC when inquiring about hair services...Last time I check Supercuts never said they only cater to straight thin strands. The stylist went rogue on my hair after giving me an uneven cut in the first place. (Cross posting from Google maps.) Shop is clean, stylists are pleasant. They kindly agreed to fix my haircut when I came back after the first attempt. I asked for my long hair to be cut about at my jawline, same length all the way around, nothing fancy. I've had this done at other chain salons including other SuperCuts without issue. I thought that it had just dried weird when the stylist was done, so I went home to wash and blow dry it. It was not. One side was about half an inch longer than the other. Upon returning to get it fixed, the stylist said "it's hard to cut long hair and now it's short so no problem". I noticed she was cutting a little on the shorter side of my head than just the side that was too long. I assumed that she saw more uneven parts. When I put my glasses back on to see the finished cut I saw that what she actually had done was give me layers without asking. Reminder that I had only wanted the same length all the way around cut to be evened out. She said "it's even and this time I put more layers." I said "but I didn't want layers" she pointed out that they were long layers. I was shocked and dismayed. At that point I didn't want her cutting my hair any more. It was already shorter than I wanted thanks to the "long layers" and i don't trust that third time would be the charm. My only point of action is to try to wait for it to grow out and get it fixed somewhere else. It doesn't look like a bad haircut but it is so far from what I explicitly asked for. I hope that my review can save someone else. I will not be going back. read more

The social distancing was in effect and there were no more than a few other customers, excluding the two staff. I was very satisfied with my cut and the price was good. BEWARE if you are a person of African ancestry with natural hair or as the technician said "overly curly". I called in advance and asked if they had a person who cuts natural hair. I said, "I am black and my hair is natural". The person said sure, and scheduled me for 7:00. I drove through rush hour traffic and get there only to be informed that no one can cut my hair. Sigh. Here goes: The plumbing in my house was turned off for a few days due to a repair issue and I didn't have access to my shower. By day 3 I was going out of my mind and was desperate to wash my hair. (But still being the cheapo I am, didn't want to spend 30 bucks at an upscale salon in DC simply for a hair wash) In my frazzled, gross-hair state of mind, I went to Supercuts thinking they would at *least* be able to wash my hair and give me a little peace of mind. I called ahead and they quoted me 10 bucks. Perfect. So, I headed in. You know how they say you get what you pay for? Well, I got less. The stylist washed and conditioned my hair, handed me a towel and walked away. I asked to use the hair dryer for a couple minutes and was told, "We only have one in the salon and someone else is using it. Sorry." Normally I'd get over it and move on with my life, but here's the kicker: by the time my hair dried an hour later, I realized she didn't even wash the shampoo or conditioner out of my hair! It was all grimy and I couldn't get a comb through it. My hair felt worse than when I walked in, which was a huge bummer. Bottom line: They can't even shampoo hair here so there's no way I would trust them with scissors. read more

I just got the worst haircut of my life here and the only person I blame is myself for being cheap and going to Supercuts instead of actually paying for a decent haircut. My husband thinks I have low self-esteem for going here, but honestly I just wanted to run in and run out after the gym and I have long hair, and how can anyone mess up long hair? But she did, somehow the lady managed to F up the back of my long hair by cutting it into layers meant for someone with very short hair. So much so that I had to get up and get out of the chair and make her stop cutting midway through. It is so bad my kids who don't pay attention to anything, noticed and all felt sorry for me. I am angry that I did not stop the hairdresser earlier when I felt her cutting all the hair off, but I trusted her.. I will not trust again nor will I leave my house for the next six months. I walked in with no appointment. I signed in to the computer. Let's start with Chanell - first off she was a new face but I had never seen in that salon before she has the worst personality and worst customer service. She looked the least bit interested in cutting anyone's hair. She looked at me and said nothing. Maria A second hairstylist was also there - she told me that she had a line of customers and that she would need some time I told her Maria that that was OK. Maria and then proceeds to tell me that another stylist by the name of Karin was going to come in at 2 PM. I said no problem to Maria. I told Maria and Chanell to let Karin know that I would be her first customer at 2 PM they both said OK. I walk in at 2 PM looking for Karin and Chanell says to me Karins in the back she knows you're her first appointment. I said wonderful I walk to the back to greet Karin in a friendly manner who has never cut my hair btw. when I approached karin her body language said it all. Karin looked at me and said What? What are you here for? Giving me lip about no one telling her anything. With an attitude in her tone I walked away and went back to the location where Maria ans Chanell looked at her and reminded her that she had an appointment with me and that they did tell her. Karin then gets an attitude that was so very unprofessional .. I tell her never mind with that attitude you will not be cutting my hair. I then ask Maria if she then had time after the lady that she was currently cutting. She said yes. Maria was friendly seeing that I was having a bad experience with Karin my hair was cut and then I left. But all fairness Maria knew I had been there prior many times. I have to say these ladies need to get it together the only one that has ever been nice and greeting me properly was always DELMY. Unfortunately Delmy was not there she was on vacation so I had to settle. Do not come here if you're looking for customer service if you come here you better know somebody that you been going to for a while that cuts your hair consistently don't try new hairstylist. Oh my god. Don't ever go here. I'm a student at American University, which means that I don't have any money, so I figured I'd go to Supercuts rather than the pricier salon on campus. Wow. Big mistake. I wanted six inches cut off into a simple shoulder-length blunt cut. I know it's risky to go to Supercuts for a major cut, but it's literally the simplest cut in the world. How badly could they mess it up? It turns out, big time. At first, I was all excited to have less hair, and it looked fine, especially because I let my hair dry naturally. But then as I was flat-ironing my hair, I looked in the mirror and realized something: my hair was lopsided. The next few minutes went something like this ... Emi: Oh my god. Gay friend #1: What? Emi: (turns to the rest of the room) Does my hair look off to you? Gay friend #2: Uhm ... Roommate: Oh my god. Gay friend #1: That's really bad. Emi: Oh my god! &$%@ Supercuts! I'm not even joking, my hair is a solid half inch longer on my right side than on my left. I frantically parted it in all sorts of different ways, but it's still crooked. This was a really bad experience. My first time writing on yelp-- I really am not picky with haircuts because I have a philosophy that hair eventually grows back. I got home and realized my haircut was uneven and called to say I was coming in. I walked 25 minutes all the way back, and asked to talk to someone outside/in the back. but they made me talk to them right there and then. They preceded to act like it was my fault and the same lady wanted to cut my hair again. I politely asked for another woman, and she said she just wanted to look at it and wouldn't cut it. I sit down in the chair, and she precedes to wet my hair and brush it out for a minute then snip my hair. I got upset and said I asked her not to cut my hair, and then she said rudely that I would have to come back tomorrow to see the manager. It was simply rude and not professional. I was frustrated but decided to return the next day, and reserved an appointment for a hair coloring at 5:00. I arrived and was told that it was too late, even though I had made an appointment. After agonizing over whether to go into the 'burbs to see my old stylist, or try out a new one at a trendy salon, I made a spur of the moment decision to try Supercuts -- and I'm THRILLED that I did. It took about 15-20 minutes for the super-friendly and helpful stylist to cut my hair. Granted, I didn't want anything fancy -- just a few inches cut off of my unruly mane -- but she did exactly what I wanted, and my hair looks fantastic. AND I only paid $19 bucks, which is about 1/3 of what I'd have paid if I'd gone to my old stylist! I will definitely go back for my next trim. read more

I took my toddler here today to get a hair cut. The stylist (Estela) didn't do a great job, but my kid could definitely look worse. She was very polite and sweet to my baby. Importantly, the salon was clean. I like that they had a cute cape covered with animals (these things make a difference to the under-5 set), and the stylist was good about not scaring my daughter with the blow dryer. I realize that this is Supercuts, not Andre Chreky Salon, but I can't give a higher review because I paid $3 less for a much better haircut for my baby at the Hair Cuttery. You get what you pay for...they are all moderately trained and know the basics, don't go expecting much more than that. Typical hairstylist scene where they're probably gossipping to each other whilst they cut hair but I can't understand cause it's in Spanish. They do the bare minimum but that's what you get for $20. One worker Karina has total resting bitch face and will give you this fake niceness..at least that how she treated me, she was a doll towards the old white men. Again all for the price point of $20 suck it up and get a trim. read more

Never coming to this place again. Came in waited not too long until someone freed up, as soon as I sat down 2 out of the 3 "stylists" there began talking in Spanish to each other ignoring me. I finally told her how to cut my hair (not difficult, # 3 on the side, #5 on top and leave the tips a bit longer) she began cutting my sides and cut too much from the top then she began cutting the top and completely forgot to leave my tips longer because she was still talking to the other stylist so i mentioned it and she just said "oops sorry" then asked my sideburns I asked her to make it shorter which I don't know how she did it but it was definitely not even and I had to fix when I got home. Then she asked about the back if I wanted squared or round, I asked for squared but got round.. She didn't even show me the back with a mirror. She then just blew the hair off and proceeded to take off everything and said "all done". No hot towel no wiping off hair. Been going to other Supercuts in the past without too many issues but this one is unacceptable. never coming here again and would recommend everyone finding a different place. Hard to describe the bizarre experience here. I'm not picky about my haircuts at all and generally find Supercuts does a more than satisfactory job. This is the only Supercuts in the city so I have visited several times since moving to DC less than a year ago. I accepted the generally grungy appearance of the shop with a loud television often playing in the back and the grimy sign asking for tips to be in cash as charming. The haircuts were fine and quick and that's what really mattered. That was until my last visit. I asked for 2 on the sides and short on top which is usually enough information to get what I want. After a few minutes of cutting the stylist announced that he was done. But the top was not even close to short. I asked for shorter but he replied that he couldn't make it shorter because his hands were to big. I'm 42 years old.... I've had countless haircuts from dozens of different barbers/stylists. Never in my life have I heard such a thing. The solution to this problem.... apparently..... is to run the #8 clippers around my entire head... something an 80s television mom would have done or I could have done at home with my beard trimmer. This was all so absurd I quickly decided that further discussion was futile and getting out quickly my highest priority. But before in could leave I had to endure an awkward discussion about the apparently controversial requirement to offer customers a hot towel when I declined that part of the service. Just had my last haircut ever at this place. I've been coming here for many years and always received friendly service and...for the most part....decent haircuts. I show up and made the mistake of taking the first available "stylist" who was someone I had never seen before. She was not friendly and clearly not very enthusiastic about her job. My hair is not the easiest in the world to cut, but I'm pretty low maintenance and don't expect much either. Just a professional cut for my white collar job. She uses the razor on the side of my head. okay...decent start I guess. forgets to use it on the back of my hair and cuts maybe 1 mm of hair on the top of my head. then looks at me and says "done." I could tell she was not interested in even giving me a mediocre haircut, so I knew right away I would need to go somewhere else to have this disaster fixed. Given that I knew I was going somewhere else anyway, I opted not to argue with her and to get out of there as quickly as possible before she made my hair unfixable. Thankfully I was able to make it to another salon to have this disaster fixed. So, well done Supercuts, you lost a long term customer today. read more

I know you might be tempted to give this place a shot because, like me, you may be a student strapped for cash... but I must warn you- don't do it! It's a total gamble! I went here once and the guy who did my hair was awful! I honestly don't even know how he obtained the license that was staring at me from the wall. He did not understand how to cut hair evenly, let alone cut the layers I had asked him too. He cut my hair as if he was cutting a piece of construction paper. And I felt dirty even being in the place. I will never go back. Next time, I'll spend the extra $20 to go to a cleaner facility with people who know what they are doing! read more

I usually wait to get my hair cut every few months by one particular stylist back home whom I trust, but my bangs were getting unruly, so I thought I would give this place a try. I have gone to other Supercuts locations before and had positive experiences, so I thought I would give this one a try. I had a nice stylist who was very well-intentioned, but my hair didn't end well. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she made it look nothing like it. To top it all off, when my hair is not styled with some sort of mousse or hair spray, it now looks crooked. I'm giving them 2 stars because they are nice and it was only $8, but I am not happy with the end result. read more

Came here for highlights and they destroyed my hair, I went against my better judgement and thought to give the lady a try. My hair is naturally light brown, instead of just giving me simple highlights she went ahead without asking me and dyed my hair black then bleached it with bright blond stripes. I left with my hair wet and when it dried I was horrified. Not anything like what she said it would be. Safe to say, women, do not come here for any type of hair coloring. It's good for a simple cut, obviously, but anything more it's better to go to the professionals. Sorry to be harsh but I'm horrified at my hair right now and have to shell out another 80-150$ to fix it. read more

Recently I decided that I needed to have my hair cut. In the past, I had good experiences with other Supercut locations and decided, based on YELP reviews of other Supercut shops, and the location of this particular shop, to get my hair cut here. I did register on-line for my hair cut and when I arrived, I found myself waiting, and waiting and waiting for the person who was supposed to cut my hair. The manager was friendly and did apologize for the stylist's lack of presence. Fast forward to my now over 45 minute wait-the stylist finally appeared, with lunch boxes in hand and my appointment was finally ready. While the stylist did an okay job, he never apologized for being late, making me wait and oh yes, the promised hot towels never appeared. At best I would say this shop is indifferent to its' customers-at worst, it is a cheap haircut so one may get what one pays for. Make an appointment at your own risk......the on-line registration is at best a questimate as to when one's appointment will occur. read more
