Superior was my third call but was the only one to save us. My 87 year old mother inlay heater stopped working during the cold spell and they were able to get someone out and repaired it in no time. Some of the other companies took two days after the repair was done to even get back to us. I had them out to my house and for only 69.00 they did a full inspection and found that most for my ducting was leaking costing me lions of money. I received a red tag gas shut off from PG&E on a Monday. Called out our regular plumber immediately. All problems and no solutions through Wednesday afternoon (and we were without gas). Called Superior Mechanical on Wednesday late afternoon. They had the problem fixed and gas back on by Thursday midday. Even better, they sent a tech we know and trust for our HVAC service. Thought I had a problem with the heat exchanger on my furnace which could cause carbon monoxide to leak into the house. I called Superior Mechanical and asked that they check the furnace. A time had been setup and the technician showed as scheduled. He spent about 1.5 hours doing a complete inspection. Happy to say no cracks and no carbon monoxide leakage. Through out his inspection he kept me informed of what he was doing and why. The technician was professional as well as personable. After he was done, he even vacuumed the furnace. Not only was the job done in a efficient manner the price was very reasonable. Anyone looking for HVAC work can't go wrong with using Superior Mechanical Services. My 27 year old furnace went out on New Years Eve! Ugh. I was fearful of calling anyone because we had just had Christmas and a funeral and I didn't know if this would be $100 or $8,000. So we just used our pellet stove and fireplaces for almost the entire month. I was beginning to feel like I was living in the mountains off the grid with all the hauling of fire wood and sacks of pellets we did. Finally when they called the first spare day, we couldn't take it. We technically had no other source of heat but reading up on it, it was clear we had to submit paperwork to be allowed to burn that day. I ended up calling Superior yesterday because they actually installed our furnace in 1992. I called at 11am and they gave me a window of 1 to 3pm the same day. They sent OT out and he arrived at 1pm. He had our furnace repaired and up and running in less than an hour. The bill came to $346. Way less than I was fearing it would be. While our furnace will ultimately need to be replaced in the not so far future, OT got us up and running with heat. I'm very thankful. You don't appreciate your furnace to until it's cold and it's suddenly not working. Thank you Superior for the fast and very reasonable service. I will have no problem calling you again. read more

Our heater wasn't working and we called Superior based on a referral from a colleague. Not only did they fix the heater but they found the source of a ticky ticky ticky noise that had been left by a previous company. I called every air conditioning and heating repair company in the area in the middle of a heat wave to get my A/C fixed and no one could show up for over a week. (Some companies even laughed when I asked if they could come out earlier). This was not the case with superior! The woman I talked to on the phone Jenn could not have been nicer and more helpful. She had a repair man out to my condo the very next day, and he was professional and on time. They didn't give me the 2-6 hour window if when they may show up either, Jenn told me they would be there at 2 pm and that is precisely the time that the repairman was at my door. He asked me a few questions and began working on diagnosing the problem. He was done with the diagnosis and repairs in a little over an hour and kept me informed with prices, options, and recommendations through the entire process. Not only was the price of the repair cheaper than prices I compared online afterwards, but the repair man was super nice and trustworthy. It's not always very comfortable having a stranger come into your home, but this man was so nice and I could not have asked for better service. I can't say enough about this company and the way that I was treated, as well as the results of the repair. My condo is an ice box now! If you need any work done I cannot say enough about how amazing this company is. What a breath of fresh (ice cold) air! read more

My AC failed yesterday and I was looking for a technician to diagnose the problem. I called up Superior mechanical services and they sent a technician named O.T. He examined my AC unit. He kindly explained each step that he was taking as I watched him run a few test procedures. He identified the problem to be a short inside my compressor in the condenser outside. Called them at 12:00pm Friday to service our hood. The lady on the phone was not helpful and seemed that she didn't care and said the trip to San Ramon would be on over time and I asked why it's only 12 o'clock the day ends at 5 she said no we start our day early at 7am. Is there anything else you need she asked. I said no thanks and called CBS who is in concord and was at my place with in the hour and their hourly rate lots cheaper and no over time and the manager came himself to assure work was completed properly. Too bad.....I am sure this company didn't need my business I wish the best of luck. Knowing the owner worked really hard to build this business I hope he gets some one better on the phone since that is the first contact with his customers. And I am still puzzled for the overtime charge at 12 pm and expensive hourly rate. read more

My AC failed during the hottest days, I called all the numbers. Only Superior Mechanical Service is willing to put me in their jam-packed schedule and come to look at my AC the next day. The technician is earlier than the scheduled time which I am glad. He do call me ahead to let me know when he will arrive. He is friendly and helpful. I am glad that I call Superior Mechanical Services, otherwise, I might have to wait until next week to get my AC back to work. read more

Absolutely horrible! I would not recommend them at all. After several quotes we decided on Superior. The install was scheduled for 2 days, possibly 3. On day 2 they knew they weren't going to complete the job but they said they had other jobs scheduled and would not be able to come back until the following week! I called the office, etc. and they said that the reason they couldn't come back the next day was because we (the customer) said we wouldn't be home which was not true. We had planned to take 3 days off to accommodate the install. They ended up coming back 2 days later and the installer was at our house from 8am to 9pm and it was still having issues. Finally it was complete and then 2 days later we decided to use the heater and it wasn't working. The installer had to come back on Saturday to replace a part. I thought finally everything was complete. Not even 2 months later the temperature went to over 90 degrees so we wanted to turn on our AC but it wasn't working! I called the emergency services and they wanted to charge us $200 for same day service! I had to argue with the supervisor and they finally said they would have someone out the next morning. Still waiting on the results but I don't think this will be the end. I spent $14,000+ for the system and all we got was horrible service and a system that doesn't work. If you decide to get HVAC please take your time and find a good company because I do not recommend them at all!!! read more

I had just started running whole-house AC this season, and noticed that it was not cooling the house like it should. A quick check showed that the evaporator coils (inside the furnace/AC) were freezing up soon after I turned on the AC. As usual, I scoured the internet for troubleshooting tips and learned that it was probably either dirty and clogged evaporator coils or low refrigerant. I'm a DIY guy, but this was beyond my skills. So I called up Superior MSI the next morning, and got an appointment later that day--nice! A service guy named O.T. came out as scheduled and we looked at the system together. I had a lot of questions and he answered them very knowledgeably and professionally. Obviously, the evaporator clearly never been opened, because to get at the inside of the evaporator, he had to cut a triangular sheet metal panel in half (which he later repaired with metal tape). I would never have thought to do that, but now I'll be able to open it and clean it myself. Inside, we saw that the coils were almost totally blocked by a felt-like coating of dust that had restricted the air flow. O.T. peeled this stuff peeled off pretty easily, and then cleaned the coils with solvent. Next, we went outside and he hooked up some gauges to the compressor to check the refrigerant level, which was low. We had a nice discussion about temperature differentials and refrigerant levels as he topped off the refrigerant. Finally, O.T. told me what kind of filter to use in the furnace, since I had been using the wrong size and type. So, now the AC is working great--better than it ever has--and I'm looking forward to the coolest summer that I've had in a long time! I think the AC has been under-performing for a few years now due to years of neglect.
