This review is long overdue, but Kevin was incredibly friendly and attentive when we needed to get our furnace checked for why the gas valve was clicking. He took our calls/texts throughout the day/night, came by, fixed the issue by cleaning out the drain, collector cup, and pressure switch tubes, did so for a very reasonable price, and later came back to install an outlet for the system on roof in order to protect the system from getting rain water in it. It got hot late last week and so on Saturday (04/29/17) I turned on my AC after the long rainy season and guess what my AC didn't want to function. the fan wasn't working and I tried youtube to see if I can figure it out myself and that didn't go no where. At this time decided I need to go with the pro. started my Yelp reviews and calling my friends. on of my friends mentioned to me about Thumbtack. I went into Thumbtack and requested a quote for my AC repair. I got quote from a dozen contractors from $0 to $72 diagnostic cost. Kevin from East Bay Heating & Air was one among them. Kevin is the owner of the East Bay Heating & Air services and employees a team of 7. I was trying to get someone to come take a look at it on Sunday knowing that the coming days are going to be super hot. Kevin was the only person who decided to come over and take a look at it on Sunday. Kevin was very professional, polite, respectful, communicative, and took the time to explain what is going on with my unit. He also took the time to check my Nest device, AHU, and heater to make sure there is no issue in any of the device. Kevin quickly diagnosed that the motor fan is busted and took picture of the model of the motor. As he was looking at this he also diagnosed for other problems, he identified the disconnect switch was also busted and was not doing its job of cutting power to the AC unit (a major safety issue). Kevin took note of that and turned off the breaker at the main control panel for safety reasons. Once the issue in hand was identified and action plan was established, I started discussing with Kevin options to replace the entire heating & AC unit in my home. he took his time to explain to me all the brands out there, SEER ratings, single stage to double stage etc. Kevin was not rushing or in all of this didn't attempt to sell me anything. no pressure which was great. I requested a quote for replacing the entire system and Kevin quickly assembled a quote and emailed me on the same day. He also promptly replied to all my queries, remember this is all happening on a Sunday. later on that day I decided not to proceed with the whole replacement project even though Kevin's estimate was reasonable since I just did other improvement projects at my home and didn't want undertake this project at this time. When I got back to Kevin on this he was professional and agreed with me that this is the right thing to do. Kevin reaffirmed that he his going to procure the fan motor part and the disconnect switch. Once getting the parts will be at my home on Monday and take care of this work order. On Monday morning he promptly followed up with a call at 10:00am and confirmed that I wanted the motor to be replaced before he bough the parts. At 12pm he was at my home making the repair and as he did it he also cleaned my AC unit. Installed the new disconnect switch and included a compressor saver kit as my AC unit was from 90s. Kevin work was of good quality, prompt, and professional with his service. I will be recommending him to my friends for sure. read more

I had used this company in the past however. this time. not so good. Jevin came to repair vents while on vacation. did not go well at all. I Ed scheduled upon my return and ge dud fix the issue however I found him to be extremely lazy and not wanting to do anything other than stated issue. since then I found out from other peopke being under my house that ALL of my vents need to be replaced!! very disappointed and will never use this company again. he didn't want to help or do anything other than job and even then seemed to complain about it. i feel bad but there's more to it and I cannot expand. read more

We live way out in El Sobrante, which tells you Kevin serves a broader area than noted :) What a great job he and his crew did! We needed them to work on a weekend and they obliged. Installed brand-new central heat (which I happen to have on now, thanks to chilly weather), and air (which we used that very week, thanks to a mini Spring heat wave). Everything works perfectly and I'm confident we'll get fast service if anything goes wrong down the road. Kevin needed to come back to install a special order intake cover and adjusted controls based on our time using them. He'll be back once we've used it for a while to fine tune as needed. He explained everything as he did it, his test findings and possible problems we may encounter with our older systems down the road in detail. What a great experience today! I'm a new homeowner and during our inspection it was brought to our attention that the AC was setup to drain underneath the house and not properly where it's supposed to be. So we decided to get that fixed before the summer heat. Kevin was such a nice guy and explained everything he did and showed me. This guy is the best of this kind around here (San Leandro). We kept hearing a funny noise going off every time our furnace was on for more than a year, and had 4 different companies coming over (we did some renovation as well) and saying it was nothing to worry about. Finally, on a Friday night our furnace stopped working. After calling several companies, none of which got back to us..., Kevin got back to us on a Sunday night with a reasonable offer to come in and check the furnace out on the next Monday morning. Kevin is a super nice guy, returns calls/emails promptly and is very accommodating with his schedule! My father-in-law got quotes from several different heating and air specialists to install a mini split system and on a hunch that Kevin was a "hard worker" he decided to go with him. He was right, Kevin works hard to get the job done and he makes sure that you as a customer are totally satisfied with his work. The job wasn't as easy as thought, they had to drill through lot's of brick and it took much longer than expected. After installing the system he came back several times (free of charge) to help us through some hiccups we were having. It was no fault of his but rather the unit itself had issues. Kevin helped us through the very annoying process of getting in touch with the manufacture and restarting the system. It was really frustrating but Kevin made it as painless as possible. 5 stars plus. My 39 year old A/C suddenly stopped working after the roof of my adjacent shed was replaced. I suspected there was a connection. The first HVAC company determined that there was a "big leak", but could not find it. Kevin responded right away, did some detective work, found the leak and tried really hard to figure out whether the line could be repaired, consulting several others in the business. That kind of line is not used or even made any more. I decided to replace the entire HVAC unit. He gave me a fair price and brought me a portable unit in the meantime.
