We've been a fan of this restaurant since opening. It was so popular when it first opened, it was not always easy getting a reservation. We first started getting the calzone takeout, and they were very unique and delicious. Their pizza also is very unique and top-notch crust and toppings. I prefer to eat in here as the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, food is hot, with a beautiful presentation. The bar always seems busy and they make delicious homemade drinks, with a nice selection of beverages, including local offerings. All their appetizers are delicious and creative. Our favorite are the Manchurian potatoes. We love that they use local small farms and seasonal produce, all so fresh. They have a great selection for vegetarians, and a nice range of options for main course and tasty desserts. Their weekend buffet menu is unique and a winner for any occasion! The staff and the owner Yoshi, are all so friendly and welcoming. Yoshi is an amazing cook, and sometimes you'll find him working hard in the kitchen when not running the floor so smoothly. Disappointing brunch, and not in a fun "oh well" way--more in a "how did this go so wrong?" way. I ordered the Uttapam expecting those savory, thick, veggie‑topped rice‑and‑lentil pancakes a Google search described. Instead, I got something thin, lukewarm, and flavorless. If there were Thai chilies involved, they were absolutely in the witness protection program. The coconut chutney was good but competed for attention with the bland pancakes. The pancakes were crying for some kind of vegetable topping, some heft, some flavor, and some heat. The mimosa drink was both too sweet and too pricey, like it was designed for someone who forgot to read the menu before ordering (me). I came in with high expectations based on the reviews; I left wishing I'd microwaved an Amy's Tofu Scramble. read more

For being such a highly rated restaurant, I was a bit disappointed. I found the food to be pretty bland. Interesting fusion combos that sounded promising, but it just missed the mark for me. I loved the crust for the calzone. It was really good. But the butter chicken didn't have any flavor so it got lost in the crust. I liked the Marry Me cabbage, but it didn't blow sunshine up my skirt. The almonds were a nice added crunch though. They gave the cabbage much needed texture. I think my favorite was the pig cheeks and grits. The meat was perrrfect. Sitting on creamy grits, every bite was delicious. Loved the ice cream sandwiches but found the chai leches cake really bland. It lacked the sweetness you want after a meal. But if you prefer your desserts understated, you might love it Loved my blackberry crumble cocktail. It was a suggestion by my server and she was right. I wouldn't go out of my way for this restaurant. It was definitely a "one and done" for me. I didn't dislike it by any means at all, it just wasn't worth the 26 min it took to find a parking spot. I'd give the food an 8/10 and the service a 6.5. Ambiance is great. Calm and relaxing interior vibe with courtyard seating too. We loved the THC canned cocktail, it was like an Indian horchata! We got the little gem salad, which was a fresh and spicy start. The eggplant bao is a must order - so good. Also recommend getting the green achar sauce on the side. I was stoked for the butter chicken calzone. While it was good, it left a bit to be desired. The outside was a bit thick and I wish there was more sauce on the inside. Our server described their menu as "Indian-Midwest Fusion" aka Indian food with more bread and cheese. But every menu item was really unique and well executed. It's a pretty seasonal menu, so the things we ordered might not still be available, but the highlights were for sure the Manchurian Potatoes, Baos (eggplant and pork), Dhaba Noodles, and chicken korma. The chicken korma especially was really unique. We also had naan with a couple sauces and honestly I would happily have a meal of just naan and sauce. 3.5 stars (brunch) The starters we shared were quite good: -fruit chaat ($9): seasonal fruit, mint syrup, kalonji candied cashews -French toast ($19): gahar halva, almond dukkah, gulab jamun syrup The fruit chaat was a nice way to start the meal. That drizzle of mint syrup made the fruit taste delightfully refreshing. I also loved the candied cashews for the extra crunch and flavor. For my entree, I opted for the dosa hash ($19). I think this is a vegetarian option because the hash is made up of cabbage, kari leaf, 2 sunny side up eggs + chili crisp. And potatoes. I'm sure of some potatoes. I mean, the dosa was cool, but the hash was pretty bland despite being topped with chili crisp. I had bites of the spicy beef hash and eggs ($19) and the big beefy sandwich ($16). Personally, I felt like the beef was too heavy to be a breakfast protein. Again, I like the fun fusion-y flavors, but I didn't love anything from our brunch spread. Really interesting fusion of Indian food which is always exciting to me. We had a palak paneer pizza that was really delicious. The highlight for me was the eggplant and cauliflower bao buns (the buns are made in house) which was really unique. I was not as impressed with dessert-- we got a chocolate pudding which tasted great but it felt like a defrosted frozen dessert. Vibes were great, service was excellent and friendly. One of the greatest meals I've ever had in my 10 years living in Chicago. Every bite was expertly crafted and flavorful in the most inspiring ways. Fusion done so so well to the point I wouldn't even call it fusion, it was its own creation. Highly recommend the Touch Grass cocktail, Manchurian potatoes, the cashew noodles, the lamb kabob, and the eggplant bao. Wow. So flavorful and tasty. Ordering the various sauces on the side to add on top of everything was so cool! Lasting inspiration that is truly remarkable and unforgettable. Highly recommend making reservations, the place was absolutely packed when we visited on a Saturday. Even with a reservation, we had to wait a few minutes before getting seated. We kicked things off with the pulled pork bao, which was bursting with flavor. The buns were soft and perfectly made. The drinks were on the stronger side, which we didn't mind at all. Next up was the much-hyped butter chicken calzone, and it absolutely lived up to the expectations--perfect for sharing between two. We were especially curious about the Maggi noodle Bolognese, and it turned out to be another standout dish with bold flavors and a generous amount of meat. Our friends tried the Palak Paneer pizza and really enjoyed it as well. For dessert, we had the Parle-G ice cream sandwich--kulfi lovers will appreciate this one. We had an incredible and unique dining experience at Superkhana. It started off great because it was incredibly easy to park in front of the restaurant. When we entered, it was packed with people and we were seated in the back where we could see the kitchen staff preparing all the foods. Everything looked clean and pristine, with the plates artistically stacked and all the food beautifully plated. We had incredible service from the wait staff. Everything came out quickly but it was perfectly spaced. I had a non-alcoholic chamomile lemonade made with Topo Chico that I absolutely loved. My husband had an old-fashioned made with Mezcal and our friend had a beautiful looking purple drink called Stardrop that was made with rum and plum liqueur. We started off our meal with the eggplant bao appetizer, which was just delicious with an aioli sauce . We also had the little gem salad with kohlrabi. The dressing definitely had some kick to it and it was one of my favorite things on the menu. We were really fortunate in that the restaurant brought us the Manchurian potato appetizer on the house. These potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with another delicious aioli sauce. For our main dish, we shared the palak paneer calzone that we split between the four of us. (one of the staff expertly cut it for us so we each had an even amount) This calzone was an interesting blend of paneer with the classic calzone doughy outside. We also had the margarita pizza which to be honest looked just like any classic margarita pizza but the spices made it extra special. We ended our meal with the Superkhana ice cream sandwiches. The portion size was small but packed with flavor and the cardamom ice cream was definitely exceptional. Superkhana was an interesting blend of modern Indian spices with classic foods like pizza and calzones. We are looking forward to coming back here again and trying all the other things on the menu. As a South Asian, I love fusion foods. The menu is small but creative. The decor is fun and colorful and the staff is excellent. I highly recommend this place for drinks, desserts, and ambiance but not the food. I expected more spice and flavor. We ordered the potatoes, kadu noodles and the butter chicken calzone and the parle g ice cream sandwiches. The noodles were absolutely bland and though the calzone shell was perfect (fluffy, crunchy) the butter chicken was awful. It tasted purely of garam masala without being mixed. The ice cream sandwich was delicious! Candied pistachios with kulfi ice cream, it made up for the rest of the meal. Ultimately, disappointing. The flavors just aren't there for me. The food is absolutely amazing and the vibe of the establishment really made me feel like I was having dinner in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. I'm very picky of my indian food (I'm West Indian, but my family originated from India) so let's just say I'm somewhat of an Indian food snob. Anyone can throw some curry and cumin on some chicken and call it a day, but this place is out of this world. They didn't just meet my expectations, they exceeded them! I can't really begin to explain the different flavors and spices they offer, but their sauces alone were to die for. Funny enough though, it was their naan pizza that stole the show for me. I ALSO really enjoyed a dish of, I believe curry chicken wrapped in this amazing pastry. I was worried it would be dry, but it was the juiciest bird I've had since Chicken Festival in Astoria, Queens. But damn, thinking about the various dishes I had at Superkhana is already making my mouth water. None the less, I came to Chi town to work and watch the Cubs dismantle my METs, so all around the trip was okay. That's until my local friends, P&J, took me to Superkhana International and it really was the highlight of my trip. They ordered almost half the menu so I was fortunate enough to get a good sample test of a lot of their amazing dishes. If you want something off the tourist menu, I highly recommend Superkhana International, you won't be disappointed. PS. The only word of advice I wish someone would of told me is to make sure to pack antacid pills. If you go out to eat in Chicago, just go ahead and take it before you head out for dinner (or lunch for that matter, they like hot peppers on everything). You'll thank me later. read more

Three words: butter chicken calzones. I was sold, and they lived up to my impossibly high expectations. The menu is a range of traditional indian flavors in unique preparations, including bao and pizzas. In addition to the calzones, we had the tomato achar margherita pizza, which was very tasty as well. The crust was 10/10, so crisp on the bottom but fluffy in the back. Each slice had one basil on it, too, which we appreciated. Restaurants don't always have amazing cocktails, but here, they do. The winter negroni really tastes like winter. It is one of the best negroni variations I have ever had, and I have had quite a few. We tried the house chai and house made amaro as well, and we were so impressed. I can say without a doubt and without needing to give it another thought that this is one of the best meals I have ever had! I don't even remember how I found this place, but I am so glad I did. My husband and I did date night here while we were in Chicago for a couple weeks. Reservations were easy to make (and highly recommended). From the outside, it looks like such a little unassuming place. When we entered, we were greeted immediately by the hostess who was super sweet and seated us immediately. The decor inside was gorgeous - we loved the colors and the pink light accents on the ceiling. We were seated in the corner of the booth which was super comfy and was a cozy little spot. Louis (unsure if I spelled that correctly), was our waiter and took excellent care of us. My husband got their special Old Fashioned and I got the Watermelon Salad. My husband enjoyed his drink a lot and I was super pleasantly surprised by my drink - I was curious about the cumin tequila, but I'm happy to say it is much tastier than it sounds! The cumin was definitely noticeable but in a good way. I loved my drink, very unique, and something I would get again. For our dinner, we split the palak paneer pizza, the Manchurian potatoes, and two pieces of the eggplant bao. We also got an individual side of the chile crisp from the spicy bowls. OH. MY. GOD. It was all amazing! The potatoes were SO CRISPY. We asked how they made them this crispy and it's apparently a three-day process! In addition to the texture, the flavor was similarly perfect. It went so well with the chile crisp as well! The pizza was delicious! There's no actual paneer in the pizza, but there is plenty of spinach and crispy shallots. I was a little skeptical about the pizza, but rest assured: we swiftly finished the entire pizza. The showstopper in my opinion, though, was the eggplant bao. As a vegetarian, I rarely ever get to have baos, so I jumped on this opportunity. It was divine! The eggplant was cooked great, the flavor was great, and the addition of cauliflower was top notch. The bao was soft and fluffy. I need more of this in my life. My husband ended the meal with a hot chai - he had wanted it with whole milk, but they had run out, so he got the oat milk instead. It was also great! It came with two Parle-G biscuits, which is SO OG! Dipping the biscuit in the chai brought me straight back to India and my parents' home. We made reservations ahead of time for date night, because while they do take walk-ins, why risk it? The service was great and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The interior was also cozy with beautiful decor, perfect for a romantic dinner. For dinner my husband and I both shared - Palak Paneer Calzone - This was an accident, but definitely a delicious accident that worked in our favor. We had ordered the butter chicken calzone but once we cut into it quickly realized it was the wrong one. They replaced our calzone and we got to keep the spinach one as well. The flavor was delicious, with just the right amount of spice. The manager came & apologized, and but was NO need. Butter chicken calzone - Definitely delicious, and perfect ratio of filling/cheese/crust. Honestly though, after trying the palak paneer Calzone I would be hard pressed to decide between the two. The butter chicken was a milder flavor. For sauces, we tried tamarind chutney, salt fermented jalapenos, chili crisp, and green chili achar. We had also ordered the jalapeno and cheese naan, so if you're doing that, you can skip the jalapenos as a sauce and try something else like the mango achar. All of the sauces were really good, but the standouts for me were the tamarind chutney and the chili crisp with huge chunks of garlic. The jalapeno cheese naan was fantastic, and the size of a small pizza. Great for sampling the sauces. We also ordered the bolognese, and the flavors were rich and deep with a beautiful fusion of spices! I'm still drooling thinking about it. We also each had cocktails, that accompanied our food perfectly. Finally, we settled in for a dessert, which consisted of chai and ice cream sandwiches... Don't cheat yourself, be sure to try the ice cream sandwiches! It's hard to describe the melded flavors, I think the ice cream had cardamom in it, but it was a perfect finale for our meal. This is an incredibly overdue review. Superkhana is a staple in my husband and I's dining repertoire. We frequent Superkhana 1-3 times a month and at this point it feels like home. Brunch is one of our favorites, sipping on an iced oat chai and enjoying a dosa, fruit chaat, and silver dollar pancakes is truly the best way to start your day. Dinner has to start with an eggplant Bao, any of the chaats in season, a palak paneer calzone or pizza, followed by the chicken chettinad, fish curry, or noodles. Whatever you choose, it's sure to be a new favorite. Every dish we've had here is exceptional. The flavors meld perfectly together, everything is exquisitely seasonsed, salted, and spiced. We love adding the sauces on the side for a unique bite every time. Truly cannot go wrong with anything you have here. We absolutely adore the food and we love the staff even more. Each server is knowledgeable, kind, gracious, and takes time explaining the menu or recommending favorites. We've left every meal feeling well cared for and with a deeper appreciation for the Superkhana family. We love Superkhana so much it's no surprise we hosted our wedding here. My second time dining here, and the food was slightly worse than last time, but still solid. That said, I think this place overall needs to do a little reflection about how it comes across in a few dimensions. For one, this whole new trend of Gen Z stare or just terrible customer service needs to end. Our server approached our table twice in the hour plus time I was there. The few precious moments we could flag them down, we felt that we were unwelcome. Did we do something wrong? Nope. Because every person we had the displeasure of interacting with at this restaurant was the same. Cold, distant, unavailable to do anything basic to help us, like fix our wobbly table or offering a hello. Every plate we ordered was plopped down in defiance, like our existence was triggering to them. I get it, the job sucks, but we were polite and eager to enjoy our time and your attitudes, perhaps unintentional, read as privileged, out of touch, and off putting. It was a special treat for us to go out, now I wish I had picked a different place. My friend and I had a fun and delicious brunch this weekend at Superkhana International! There's a lot to like about this place, and I'll definitely return. The inside is cheery and matched by the friendliness of the service. I was seated right away for my reservation despite my friend running late. Our server EJ was nice, upbeat, and helpful. I ordered a hot chai on his advice that it had some sweetness but wasn't over the top, and it was tasty and on point (albeit a little small). My friend and I both ordered the uttapam, which was excellent. Three small, savory pancakes arrived with a coconut chutney. The cakes were spicier than I expected, but the chutney perfectly balanced it out. While we were waiting, we got a good look at other dishes. The potatoes looked particularly good, and I regretted not adding them to our order. I did leave a little hungry, so I would recommend ordering more than one dish if you want something a little more substantial. It's worth knowing that they add a 20% service charge to your bill automatically. I was okay with this for two reasons: (1) it matched the quality of our service, which was excellent, and (2) they were VERY up front about it, not only stating it on the menu but also attaching bright pink pieces of paper to the bill noting it. This is a welcome change from places that don't make it as obvious to the customer. I would definitely go back to have the uttapam again and try other things on the menu. As someone who enjoys international cuisines, i was really excited to try Superkhana. I went for brunch, and had the masala chips, masala chai, & egg breakfast sandwich (ie, bun omelette). Everything was really tasty (my favorite being the masala chips, i could've eaten a bucket by myself ). If you're looking for something more eclectic than your typical brunch dishes, definitely check this spot out one weekend. i need to go back and try their dinner/ cocktail menu as well, which also looks equally delicious. read more

Best Indian Fusion I've had in Chicago! Perfect night out with girlfriends with cozy seating & lots of drink & food options. Our server had plenty of recos & the owner came by to say hi! Pro tip - order dishes in waves, almost tapas style. Highlights Butter Chicken Calzone - Plenty for three people to share, full of tender, saucy butter chicken Chana chaat - scoop from the bottom up, tangy yogurt topped with a medley of crispy bits on top Manchurian Potatoes - crispy on the outside, pillowy soft on the inside, Manchurian sauce. Apparently it takes three days to make them this delicious. Eggplant Bao & Pork Bao - fluffy soft bao, eggplant comes with bits of cauliflower, pork has generous meat portion Chile Cheese Naan - more like a pizza, very cheesy with lots of jalapeños. Recommend getting a sauce flight to dip the bread into. Sauce flight - amchur ranch & tamarind chutney went with everything, the mango achar was surprisingly bold, chili crisp was spiciest. Little Gem Salad - nice palate cleanser since we went a bit heavy on the carbs Icecream sandwich - small, but just the right sweet for the end. This review's based on two lovely brunch experiences. Both times Superkhana impresssssed. First of all, I loved eating at their patio in the summer- it's gorg! But indoor was super nice too, w the pink & purple coloring, patterned curtains and cozy pillows. Slay slay slay Their menu's small but it makes choosing easy (and you know everything's gonna be done well!!!). Of the 5 ish brunch items I've tried, my faves are def the sandwiches, but I was also really into the Uttapam (how often do you get to go savory with pancakes?!). My fave item is the Bombay Sandwich, which had the perf combo of beets and spiced potatoes, served w spiced ketchup- just YUM!!! And the Bun Omelet sandwich rocked too- if I lived nearby I would prob get that to go all the time. Their coffee is great. Last time I went they offered regular iced coffee, which I thought was stellar (read: good qual). This time, for iced coffee they only offered a spiced cold brew oat milk thing, which was still dope but def felt like a sweet treat! My friend said the chai was excellent. Wow! I've been wanting to try Superkhana for a bit and kind of forgot about it. Eater's 38 list reminded me as I was searching for a place for my kids to take me for my birthday. Incredibly glad that's what we chose. Great service, thanks Guax, and great hospitality from everyone on the team! And the food, darn, every bite delivered big flavor, great texture and knowing it was all locally sourced, humanely raised and expertly prepared made it even better. I only ordered their Butter Chicken Calzone for takeout. I called the order in. The guy that took my order was very polite and had suggested to utilize their website next time for ordering. I know everyone is used to that, but I'm still old school. I like to interact with people. He also required payment over the phone. The calzone was just ok. Felt it was a little bit on the smaller side for $17, but overall was satisfied with the flavors. My wife enjoyed it more than I did. I'm really not into Indian food, but every now and then I'm willing to give it another try. The chicken was perfectly cooked and had plenty of curry sauce that had great flavor. It was also very doughy, which wasnt a bad thing. The dough itself tasted pretty good. I'm glad I have it a try, but don't think I'll be returning anytime soon. read more

I was very surprised how good this place was. I heard mixed reviews, especially with portion size and taste. I thought this was the best Indian fusion food I've ever had, but the excellent service put it over the top. We had some issues with people joining and leading our reservation. Most places would have been like "get out", but they were super accommodating, especially with our kids. Andrew was phenomenal and one of the best servers I've had in Logan Square. We shared all the food and it was awesome! The naan was basically mini pizzas which was different and unexpected. I also heard mixed reviews on the butter chicken calzone. It was a highlight of the meal. I also liked the Kabob pizza, but many thought it was too spicy. The sauce bowl was also a nice touch. We also finished with an ice cream sandwich. Those were excellent. The portions were slightly small, but I've seen much worse in the area. Yes, it's a bit expensive, but the food was outstanding. This is a definitely an Indian fusion menu when you have the likes of a butter chicken calzone and Ghee washed bourbon old fashion made with chai tea bitters on the menu. Everything we ordered tasted real good with the Eggplant bao a real surprise. We had such a great dinner experience here! Kicking it off with aesthetics - they're really going for an eclectic hipster vibe. Florals and low lighting with funky accents. Our waiter was so attentive and informative, helping aid in a laid back and not rushed experience. They coin themselves as a "cocktail forward" restaurant and definitely had some very unique, but pleasing, flavor combinations. The margarita with cumin infused tequila was particularly interesting with a deep smoky flavor. The food was SO good! Table favorite was the butter chicken calzone wow just wow. The Chana Chaat (A jalapeño cold chickpea salad) was also a table fav bursting with flavor, and the chili cheese naan was served more like a flatbread pizza but very tasty. Two dishes I wasn't as crazy about - the broccoli rabe + squash was very bitter and not cooked enough in my opinion, and the Tomato Achar Noodles were SO spicy I couldn't eat them! For how great the food was and the interior of the restaurant, they need to level up their bathroom game to match the overall experience. Would definitely go back! read more
