My spin on Menudo with chicken

Great Mexican market for a truly authentic flare! They have great prices on most things with Mexican breads & sweets, awesome tortillas, fresh produce, deli/meats, pork/chicken/pablano cheese tamales & even small restaurant! Most staff are smiling & ready to help answer questions for you though most speak Spanish with minimal English (expected considering the name). Anytime you're planning to throw down a truly authentic Mexican dish in the kitchen, head here! You won't be disappointed.

I absolutely love this place! Fresh pastries, taqueria, awesome meat counter and produce! What more can you ask for? Come shop. The language isn't that bad of a barrier at all, either, so don't be shy, point and they gladly serve you! I love the elote! The female employee I always see making it is so sweet and makes it to perfection! I've also had their street tacos and they are wonderful! This is also the place to find excellent goodies specific to the culture. I love it here!

I frequent this place for their produce, tortillas and fantastic bakery. The staff is always very friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. The produce is less expensive than other places and cinnamon rolls are fantastic! I love that they aren't heavy with icing or too bready', they are perfect. Oh yes, and their little cake loaves of vanilla cake (not sure what they are called) are out of this world served with some sliced strawberries on them. They freeze well to. Go check them out!

4 1/2 STARS: This Latin Supermarket has GUAVA, BABY GUATEMALAN BANANAS, RIPE PAPAYA, UNBLEACHED PURPLE GARLIC!!!!! This place carries a nice selection of herbs and spices for your Latin dinner night at home. Also, you can find a nice selection of Latin cheeses, candy, beverages and locally made tortillas! The Kitchen is delicious! For about $6 you can get a complete meal including rice and beans. I've complained about the lack of decent Mexican food around this city but this kitchen makes the the authentic stuff!!! The chile rellenos, tamales, roasted chicken and tacos rock! They also have the BEST guacamole infused tomatillo sauce I've ever had! And the prices are amazing!!! The downside: No place is perfect. 1) The market is nestled in a little bit of a sketchy neighborhood. But the freeway makes it so convenient to get to. I totally understand the fresh produce is imported from places closer to the equator so freshness and selection can be hit and miss but I'd love to see more in this department...if possible. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely amazed I was able to find guava and cactus fruit!!! Keep up the great deed of bringing Latin flavor to Tulsa!!!

There's a parking lot in this plaza, and we were seated immediately upon arrival. They offered complementary chips and dips (salsa and queso). We ordered additional guac. The chorizo queso is sooooo good! I ordered the birria taco plate and I'd say this is very authentic compared to food back home (California)! They were generous with the birria and the consome is chefs kiss!!! The staff did a wonderful job in assuring our needs were met and that we were satisfied. I hope this place is just renovating and hopefully will reopen in the foreseeable future. I would love to see this place continue to thrive!

Really good and would order again. Rice and beans were probably above average. My dining partner asked how the chile relleno was prepared. (He doesn't like the eggy batter.) We were literally told that it came premade and frozen and was "just fried." Obviously, he ordered the street tacos instead. We sat at the bar and it took a bit to get waited on but the manager jumped in and gave us water and silverware. I liked my Blackberry-Rosemary Marg but I honestly didn't feel like it had much tequila in it. The regular marg was just OK. Since it is a tequila bar and we sat at the bar, I would have liked to have discussed tequilas but my bad for not asking. Would have loved to have done a tasting. The menu was informative. I would go back when in south Tulsa. Not sure I would make it a destination. (Well, maybe. Those enchiladas were good! It is a cute place.

Even though the website suggests…read morereservations, we called to check if they accepted walk-ins, which they did so that's good to know that both options are available. As what was stated over the phone, the moment we walked in, we were seated. The place is very intimate in space, I'd recommend for dates. I went with the Enchiladas, something I've been craving for a couple of months & La Tertulia helped that fix. There were a few meats to choose from & I went with chorizo. The wait on the food wasn't long (people were starting to fill in as well & it didn't stop the servers from being on point) & the food was really good. Coming in with 3 enchiladas, stuffed with the chorizo & the fixins, I was left full after I finished. The spanish rice & pinto beans were good as well, paired good with the enchiladas. The chorizo looked more like breakfast sausage more than the chorizo that's more on the dark brown + reddish tint I'm used too. The enchiladas also come with chiles (I picked green) & plenty of cheese. Side Note: Chips & salsa were also super good, my favorite type of salsa. Kinda like a Taquera/Molcajete style. I was so hungry that the chips & salsa didn't slow me down from running through my main entree.

The menu features many Mexican food favorites. Enchiladas, burritos, tacos and more. They're cooked well and served in large portions by a helpful server. A note - some of the dishes are plain and include a protein charge. I'm not a huge fan, but I'm okay with it if it's explained. I was confused during my visit because my enchiladas listed a $2.50 protein charge, but the protein charge was for each enchilada not the plate, so my three enchilada plate was $7.50 more than it was listed because I asked for chicken. I don't necessarily feel cheated, however I was surprised when the server gave me the bill. $2.50 is one thing. $7.50 is a lot more.

It's well-worn but clean. Staff is quick and friendly. The prices are very reasonable. You'll leave full, but not bloated. I've been a fan of El Rio Verde for many years and always look forward to eating here. It's not a large place and only has perhaps four or five booths and a half-dozen tables, and it fills up fast at lunch. They're known for their "Wet Burrito," but the enchiladas and burritos are also outstanding. The refried beans are fresh and made in-house. The salsa is freshly made too and very good, but not memorable like the food. You'll see people from all walks of life eating here - couples, single moms with children, police officers, business people, blue collar workers, and everyone in-between. If you want really good Mexican food that is not TexMex or from a chain restaurant, try this place! You won't regret it! One of my favorite places in Tulsa. However, as of this review, be aware that Utica Avenue, just east of the restaurant, has been blocked to north-bound traffic only for water main replacement, so getting into the neighborhood is easier than leaving. Plan to go toward downtown on the service road next to I-244 for most efficient egress.
