First time here and I fell in love with the place as soon as I entered. It wasn't very busy since it was New Year's Day. The woman working today greeted us with a smile and took our order. We had looked online at the menu, so we knew what we wanted. I do not do dairy, so I had a Purple Planet with oat milk. I love Ube and it's hard to find at most coffee houses. My friend got some kind of yummy looking tea and a muffin. The service was beyond a 5 star. She was so friendly and chatted with us as we sat on one of the couches to enjoy our drinks. I must say my Ube latte was amazing. They have more flavors for the coffee drinks that I have ever seen Next time I will try the peach pie latte. This little coffee shop is different in style than any other place in Reno. The coffee and food I'd give about a 6/10. I may have rated it higher but I think it didn't taste as good because it took so long to get it. There were about 5 other people in the shop other than me and it took 30 minutes to get my avocado toast. 20 minutes in I kindly reminded the staff about it and all they said was oh we forgot, then took another 10 minutes to start to make it. I love this place. Definitely more affordable in person. Finally made it. I usually get door dash because it is half an hour from my house. Very yummy and unique recipes. The shop is very cute. I love the decor and the music. The reward app seems like a pain but that is my only complaint. I had a purple reign iced small and an avocado toast no red pepper flakes (because of my sensitive stomach). Both are very good the purple reign is ube flavor (purple sweet potato if you didn't know) I love this drink as it has all the things. Ube, prince reference, purple, coffee... what more could you ask for? Recently met up with a friend here and I loved it! My favorite coffee drinks are specialty lattes and they have a menu full of these drinks! I went with one of their seasonal specials, the Love Potion #9 which has horchata espresso and cinnamon. It was delicious! Not overly sweet but enough to taste all the unique flavors. My friend and I both came here with babies and it was nice that they had plenty of space to hang out. The inside has high top tables, low top tables, and even some couches. There is a massive chalk board wall that my daughter enjoying playing with. The barista was super friendly and loved that we brought our babies with us! She even let us know that they have a changing table in the bathroom if we need to use it which was very kind. I came back a second time a few days after my first visit and tried another drink off their seasonal menu, this time it was an iced Lover's Latte which is a raspberry macchiato with milk, espresso, and housemade cold foam. This was such a refreshing drink and one I would absolutely order again. Both of my drinks were 5 stars, so I'll definitely be back! read more

After getting some bloodwork this morning was in need of my coffee fix after fasting 12 hours! Was a quiet morning here which was fine with me. Got right in and was greeted by a very friendly barista and ordered. I got a hot hazelnut latte, sugar free with oat milk. It was perfect and just what I craved this morning! It has a very relaxed and chill environment with unique decorations. I would totally go and chill there and read or study while I drink coffee or tea. They also have some food items on the menu. Service was amazing, and they were very patient with me as I was indecisive! How could I not? They had a lot of different flavors, and I wanted to try them all. A quick shout out for a small under rated business. I was on my way out of town when I noticed I left my mug full of coffee at home. I do not frequent coffee shops like I used to, primarily because a good cup of coffee is hard to find in most coffee bars. When it comes to coffee I am a purist at heart - Just a hot cup of black coffeeI. This is more difficult to find than you may think. I was driving through Golden Valley heading towards US Highway 395 when I remembered seeing Superstitious Java close to the Highway. Not knowing what I was getting myself into, I pulled in not having any high expectations for a cup of coffeeI. It is a very cozy small shop relying on selling drinks above all else. There were about 6 bakery ítems on a tall think case and a a few other edibles one can purchase. They had a medium roast coffee, name unknown by the barista. I bought a 16 ouncer and was on my way. About a minute later I took a sip, a second sip, and one more. Surprisingly amazing taste. Best tasting coffee I have bought in a coffee bar in years. A hint of citrus and the right amount of acidity. Kudos to the barista and to the owners for focusing on providing a very decent coffee product to its customers. I look forward to my second and consequent visits to Superstitions Java in Golden Valley. Plenty of parking. Competitive prices, friendly staff and a damn good cup of coffee. read more

This will probably be the last time I try Superstitions Java. I got their iced mocha and avocado toast. The mocha was good, but the avocado toast was incredibly salty, I had to throw it away. It also took over 15 mins for the baristas to make it. Bummed because just for those two things I paid over $17. This place is really a hit or miss. I like to support small businesses but the lack of consistency in food/coffee makes it hard to come back. read more

A cute little coffee shop nestled between all the new shops and housing when heading out to the stead area. The ambience is that of a witchy/goth vibe. They offer plenty of snacks and small bites while you sip on your caffeine of choice. They do the usual hot, iced and frappes with a witchy twist. The guy running the counter while I was in was quick and helpful, letting us know the differences between drinks or those that were no longer on the menu. My daughter introduced me to Superstitions and I am hooked! The coffee is absolutely delicious with a unique flavor that's not what you get at other shops. The area was really cute with a lot of space to sit and chat. The staff were extremely friendly and we had a fun conversation while they made my order. If you haven't been, it is a must try! I absolutley love this coffee shop. Staff is always friendly and ready to answer any questions about their menu. Some days they get a lot of mobile orders, so the in person ones take a while, but they're as efficient as they can be. The decor is very superstitious, black cats, ladders, and I'm sure many others that I'm unaware of. I haven't had much of their in house food, besides the avocado toast and it's delicious. I usually buy a Mother of macros donut with my coffee when I stop in. Would definitely recommend this gem of a coffeeshop in the North valleys! How I slept on this place for almost a whole year and a half with it being so close to home I'll never know! The lattes are fabulous. Frankly though, I'm a sucker for a theme as well so it never hurts that they always have seasonal offerings as well. I came here with some friends as it was recommended to me by a coworker. The inside was a small but nice little interior with hand drawn art on the walls and simple little decorations all over the place! Although personally the music choices of this place isn't quite as relaxing to me, but that's a very personal thing. It'll probably work for others. The barista, Emily, was friendly and very good at taking our mixed orders and got everything great! She was also very kind and very chatty! First off, I have to say that the menu that this place has is very impressive! Lots and lots of options! I ordered the Peppermint Mocha and, while I was disappointed by the small fact that the cups had nothing interesting about them. They were just plain cups with the drink drawn on with marker. But the drink was at least tasty and the amount was decent for the slightly high price. Overall, not a bad little drink stand! Driving by, you wouldn't know there's a coffee shop in this small shopping center, but it has a dedicated parking lot and is right off of the Golden Valley freeway exit. The aesthetic of the coffee shop definitely lives up to the name and I loved it! They have a variety of coffees, teas, and foods. They also sell Mother of Macros donuts here, which I love. I had the Blackberry White Mocha and it was AMAZING! You can taste that the coffee is great quality and the barista made it to perfection. I came in to try their seasonal drinks for Valentine's Day! I am always greeted with a hello which I appreciate. I decided on the Red Velvet Mocha (Iced) and a slice of their signature avocado toast. I must say the red velvet mocha needs to be on the menu. It's not too sweet, notes of red velvet compliment the espresso inside. The avocado toast was absolutely amazing! It's simple but tasty. Wow...Superstitions Java is truly one of my favorite coffee spots in Reno/Sparks! They have delicious lattes--my favorites are the Love Potion #9, which is horchata, milk, espresso and cinnamon, and the Purple Reign which is Ube, espresso, milk, vanilla and brown sugar! Their Matcha is also soooo good. Basically, everything they do here is bomb, including their avocado toasts. Although they're located in Golden Valley, which might be far for some people, it's truly worth the drive. The cafe itself is so eclectic and cute and really plays into the "superstitions" vibe. I drove all the way from South Reno on a Sunday because they make the best Mexican mocha around. got there at 4:30 (cool...they don't close until 5). went in to order and the young lady said they couldn't do coffee drinks because she had already started cleaning the espresso machine. needless to say, I was super disappointed.
