I wanted to try a new place to eat before work and came across Mendoza's Coffee. Entering the restaurant, the atmosphere seemed inviting but saw there were no prices listed anywhere. I placed my order thinking it wouldn't be that expensive, it turned out to be around $10; just for a sausage breakfast sandwich. I took that as my mistake for not asking beforehand but I thought the portion size would justify the cost. Sadly, I didn't think much of the sandwich itself and think I was given a bagel instead of sourdough. Nothing against the workers, I don't think Mendoza's Coffee is for me and don't see myself coming back.

Don't know if they own the food truck, but I can vouch for the coffee business as their breakfast food is superb, but this review goes to the late night champ. -Carne asada fries 6/5: Gotta get'em!!! Let's talk about a late night option that hits the spot. You're hungry, you get 2 tacos and an order of carne asada fries and you just paid $20 for it. It better be good right...? Let me tell you it did not disappoint. Fry selection, crispy with a light inner that coated with sauce and cheese will not go soggy. The tomato, onion, and cilantro smells and tasted fresh. Carne asada... el "sazon" is spot on!!! When I tell you that combinations of flavors hits just right. It's an understatement... mix in your choice of green or red sauce. It mixes perfectly with the crema they use. Definitely some of the best in town. Tacos: 5/5 Packed with meat, fresh veggies, as well as the right kind of flavor that's differentiated. They do it right! Priced spot on for the meal; it's filling, but good enough to make you go back for more. When you bite into the birria, it made want another one... which Is always what you want with your birria. The al pastor, it's got a perfect mix of spice with sweetness and a savory punch that makes you lick your lips. I highly recommend the coffee shop as their breakfast burritos are delicious, but if you're driving by and want something that'll leave you coming back for more... look no further. Both options, conveniently in the same spot pack a delicious option of Mexican goodness!

My kids and I made a special trip to Sun valley to visit Mendoza's coffee today. It has been awhile since we visited. I ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito. My kids already had eggs and bacon at home, but they wanted something sweet; they ordered the mini pancakes with lechera and caramel on top of their strawberry and banana, a piña colada smoothie, chocolate muffin and a Nutella hazelnut crunch frappe. I resisted the urge to have their horchata iced coffee. It's my favorite besides the Gansito. :) They were fairly busy this am, but we were in no rush. I love how cute this place is and how it's come along. My first visit here I sat outside on the patio. Great service, but wish their breakfast burrito wasn't $12.99. I guess everybody has raised their prices. I had a full punch card today, so the frappe was free. Get yourself a punch card when you visit. We'll be back again next time we're in the neighborhood.

Sausage breakfast burrito with pickled jalepeño Chorizo quesadilla

Ordered via door dash and food arrived still warm. Got a breakfast burrito with sausage and opted for the pickled jalepeno, which added more flavor than spice - i do recommend. Food was great. I was pleased to see there were real potatoes in the burrito, not fries, hashbrowns, beans or rice. You get plenty for the price and they aren't stingy on the meat. Chorizo quesadilla was good as well. I'm pretty picky about Chorizo, and it tasted like quality meat. Since door dash, I cannot speak on service or ambiance.

I try to always try local businesses. This place is a quiet hidden gem. I love their daily specials and great selections. Something for everyone. My grandkids love the mini pancakes. I especially enjoy the fruit refreshers.

Enjoy coming here every week. This is the coffee shop

I love this coffee shop! The coffee taste delicious. They have a whole bunch of different coffee drinks but I stick to my fav. It's local and it's very convenient if you're on Sun Valley Blvd going into Reno, they don't have a drive-through, but they offer pick up orders so if you just wanna be in a out you can still do that. They are pretty quick with making drinks, I haven't one that's was mis-made once. Most lattes are still usually only $5.25! that's huge to me!

This place is really good. I got delivery last time and got mini pancakes with strawberry and banana which was wonderful. The only think is I was looking for hot coffee and couldn't find it on the menu.

On this trip, they offered the Crawfish Etouffee as a special, coming highly recommended from all the staff, so I had to try it. The soup had a very thick, creamy texture, rich with flavor. I don't know what seasonings they put on the chicken but it was absolutely delicious. Now a risk with any fried chicken is over-cooking the chicken at the cost of getting the skin crispy. This was the case with our dish. While the outside was absolutely amazing, the chicken itself was a bit over cooked. What a shame. We ordered the Chicken Platter with a side of Red Beans and Rice. This was straight from the Bayou. Simple, delicious and perfect. Just wish I had a bigger serving. We also sampled the corn bread. While this too was quite good, the texture was bit to cake like to my liking. Not in a bad way, just different to what I would have preferred. Yes, some of my friends and relations have found it amusing, but since there weren't any locations near my home, it was a fun addon to my itinerary. So, I was inordinately pleased to discover this Cracker Barrel now so close to home! I've enjoyed a visit at this location a handful of times, and since at least a month or two has passed since the last one, decided it was time for a chicken and dumplings dinner. Things started out a little rough, and got rougher. We arrived 30 minutes prior to closing, and waited and waited to catch anyone's attention to seat us. Finally had to interrupt a very lengthy transaction at checkout to ask if they were done seating for dinner. The hostess immediately apologized and got us seated. But then we had to go back and ask if anyone was going to take our order after sitting again unnoticed. The manager came out and took our drink order followed by our long-awaited waiter. The food arrived pretty quickly, but sadly, this was the worst part of the visit. The chicken in the dumplings was so incredibly salty I actually couldn't eat it. I hate returning food, but I had to ask if something could be done. The waiter consulted with the manager, and they brought out a freshly cooked chicken breast made "without any seasonings." This is surprising since I've had bland chicken before, but here there must have been so much salt left in the cooktop, this "unseasoned" version actually came out pretty perfectly seasoned. Three stars instead of two because of loyalty to the brand concept, as well as because of the excellent customer service provided by the hostess and manager. Both did their best to ensure a good experience, and the manager also asked for feedback after the meal. I'm pretty nervous about ordering from here again, but I hope some changes are reflected in the seasoning levels, and that there's a return to the former well-loved recipe.

We've always found the service to be warm and friendly, and the environment, with its quaint wall decorations and the little country store, to be cheery and charming. This last visit, though, made it seem like things are slipping a bit. There was no line, but we still ended up needing to get someone's attention (after about five minutes of waiting) to seat us, and then we ended up having to go get someone's else's attention (again after about five minutes of waiting) to come and take our order. The person who initially seated us and then chased down our server (Adrienne or Adrianne) was apologetic, but the manager, who came by to take our drink order because the server was still backed up with another order, was not. All of this was already a concern, but then unfortunately the food was way too salty--the chicken in the chicken and dumplings was inedible, and the trout I ordered was just past the borderline of being too salty. The meat in the pinto beans side dish was WAY too salty. So, just not really a good experience at a place that's usually been fine for us. We appreciated that when we paid our bill the manager discussed the quality of the food with us, but there wasn't really any gesture beyond that to acknowledge that multiple aspects of our visit were subpar.

Went pretty well with the other parts of the meal. I have to admit I was a little surprised the biscuit was a bit dense and dry--still tasted fresh/made, just a bit off in terms of size and taste compared to the rest of the stuff on the plate. We also got the beignets, which came with a nice bourbon sauce, but sadly a few of them weren't cooked all the way through. The interior was very bright (lots of windows) and clean, and the service team behind the counter was very pleasant. Also, I thought the price was fantastic for the special--like $14.95-for a very satisfying and overall well-made meal. We'll be back to try other stuff on the menu.
