Don't trust anywhere where you can't see their work environment. You aren't able to judge how organized he is or what tools he has around. If he decides not to return your computer parts to you then there's no way you can just walk in the door and talk to a manager. Called Michael for help with an issue from my new PC that I was building. I'm not exactly a seasoned veteran when it comes to PC building, but I definitely know enough to know when I'm out of my depth. Turns out the motherboard I got was Dead on Arrival and I had to purchase a second one--which also ended up DoA, much to my frustration. I ended up calling Michael again to have him help set up the PC with a third (and different Motherboard this time) since I figured it was best to have a shop handle it this time and remove myself (and my bad luck) from the equation. Not only did Michael replace the mobo and got the entire PC up and running, but he also saw a few other errors I made during the build and fixed them for me. I'm about to get my PC worked on, but I just had to write now and tell you that Michael has been SO flexible and understanding about my false starts. I have arranged with him at least three "definite" times to drop off my PC, but something unforeseen has always gotten in the way. Do not use Michael for your repairs. Our hard drive crashed and we gave it to Michael to retrieve our data. We also gave him 3 new external drives to transfer the data to. After months of waiting he finally told us that he would have to use a lab to get the repair work done. He asked for $3,000 up front. Again we waited. I called and called and he finally told me he may not be able to retrieve the data. He said he would return our money. It has been 2 years now. Michael does not get enough Yelp credit for his genius knowledge and abilities for technology and life. I have referred him to my friends and family and he has been just as responsive as the first time that I talked to him. I accidentally dropped my Late 2010 Macbook Pro and my LCD screen broke. I saved so much money by coming to Michael for the repair. At first, I was skeptical since I usually thought only the Apple Geniuses can fix Apple products, but Michael gives everyone the fairest quote possible (for me, it was $100 for the screen part and $80 for his service). He gave me a thorough and simple explanation of the procedures he would be taking in fixing my LCD screen, which is something that no Genius at the Apple store can ever detail out to customers. My Macbook had another problem that I overlooked before the LCD screen situation. The Geniuses kept saying it's a RAM or possibly a logic board problem from the signals my laptop gave off (three beeps, won't start up). After having visited the Apple store more than enough in the past four weeks and being quoted ridiculous amounts of money to repair the darn thing, I sought out Michael's advice on what to do next. His diagnosis saved me so much stress and money and all he had to do was run the Disk Utility on it and reinstall the system for a real affordable price than what Geniuses would've mindlessly given me. We will not be going to anybody else to get our computer fixed again, after getting an alarmingly high quote to fix the Hard Drive on our 4 year old iMac from the Apple Store my husband and I decided against having them fix it (there was no way replacing the HD would be nearly $400) so I took to good ole Yelp to find me somebody local that could do the job at a sane price. I came across this page and decided to call Michael since he is located pretty close to our house, after I spoke to him I knew that I could not get a better deal than from him, he had quoted a very reasonable price for us and when he met some difficulty with the computer the raise in rate was still well within the "very very good deal" range. He even installed some goodies for us too! We did not have to pay him until he was done with the computer, which was only a couple days. He had the computer set up and on when I came to retrieve it so I could see that it was working correctly (it had been busted for nearly a year...I was just happy to see it on!). Yesterday afternoon, 2 hours after I'd last shut it down following a full day of work - my 1 1/2 year old Alienware wouldn't reboot. I work remotely from home most of the time, and really needed to get it working, like instantly. I wasn't really sure what to expect. Took my chances, & didn't regret it at all! Michael has a really awesome workspace (I was awed when I stepped in haha). Comfy, too.
