We have never eaten at a Surcheros before, so trying to evaluate what to order was tough. First bite of crunchy taco with ground beef, I was shocked how delicious it was! The entire time I was eating it, I was trying to see if something specifically was standing out as to why it was so good, but I think it was just a great combination. The shell held up pretty well and didn't get soggy or crumbly. The ground beef was seasoned perfect; it wasn't spicy at all, but had plenty of flavor. The pico and the corn salsa were delicious and fresh. On the flour tortilla I got everything the same except I got the grilled chicken. The chicken also had a great flavor to it, but I probably wouldn't bother getting the flour tortilla again because the crunchy was so good. The only thing I was disappointed in the food at all was the fact that it was not Warm. The ground beef I think might've been slightly warm, but the chicken felt cold. My husband was disappointed because he asked for a soft corn shell for his second one and he got flour. Other than the fact of the taco shell mistake, the meats not being warm, all of the tables were messy, I thought it was a little crazy that they were packing up all of the drinks like tea at 7:15 and they don't close until 8 l:00. I guess that's OK if you only wanted a fountain drink and it was fine for us because we didn't order a drink, but I would be very unhappy if I wanted tea and they already cleaned it up. From the get go I should have gone the other way. I walked in, asked the person working to walk me through the process, and the response was "what?"... the food I ordered was cold, salty, and inedible. The tables were dirty. For $30+ I got tacos and nachos... all of it went into the trash. As I was leaving there was a lady yelling at the person working because they were getting everything wrong. There was one other person there who was doing everything... running circles around the other person. This was a true disappointment. I will not be returning. read more

In terms of fast food Mexican, this is one of my favorites out of Moe's , Chipotle , etc. the ingredients feel super fresh and the portion sizes are huge! There are also a lot more ingredients options to choose from which is a plus. The meals also come with chips and salsa which Chipotle does not do! I prefer this establishment because it's fast, has way more toppings to pick from, it's a little more affordable and you have plenty of healthy options. The food is always good. You can't go wrong with the usual Tex-Mex ingredients. It is very easy to get what you want, they truly make it your way. I usually get a quesadilla 'my way.' They can improve with the cleanliness behind the counter. The staff is very young, so they need help with improving their social skills. They should acknowledge people in front of them...not just when they are ready to fix your food. (I'm not suggesting they yell an insincere "Welcome to Surchero's!" when you walk in the door). We really like Sucheros for the salads. Fresh (non brown) lettuce eludes so many restaurants in this area. Sucheros is always good. We have gotten salads here, which are huge) at least 40 times. Take em to the beach and have a lunch break. My only wish is they would use Romaine hearts (the lighter green. Crunchier) lettuce instead of the dark green outer leaves. I went to Surcheros to take advantage of the $2 taco deal. Emily prepared our food, and it was delicious. Pro tip: ask for the burrito bowl in a to go box. The paper they put on their "plates" gets soggy and tears as you are eating when you don't have a shell holding your food. The cashier was new, but did well ringing me up. We had the $2 tacos, the burrito bowl, a large queso, 2 water cups, and I had a coupon, so there were a lot of tricky things. She asked Emily for help, and Emily helped in a respectful, non-demeaning way. The restaurant was clean, and the tv's were showing three different things. The chips were perfection as usual. My favorite place to eat. The food is flavorful and the FRESH veggies are hand DICED and plentiful. Selections such as fresh spinach, romaine and iceberg lettuce, fresh and pickled jalapeños. Corn salsa, cucumbers, three types of onions and house made guacamole just to name a few. The portions are generous and worth the price. Simone and Kayla are always helpful and pleasant. This was our first visit. When we arrived, the place was relatively empty. Four staff members were working and we were greeted warmly, so that was good. The first issue was on the line right in front of us. It was a complete mess. There was food all over the steam table. And remember, the restaurant was almost empty (it was 8:00pm on a Friday night) when we walked in so their dinner rush should have been long over. There just appeared to be no thought on the part of the employees or management to try to clean on their down time. Every work station was a mess. I ordered something with steak and there was an upcharge. No big deal because I had seen that noted. However, the price he quoted was $.20 more than what was posted. Come on. At least keep your menu current. Employee at the line started our burrito bowls wearing gloves, handling utensils while serving out of the steam table and then proceeded to handle raw food with the same gloves and no utensils at a chilled table. The counter at the checkout was so dirty our trays wouldn't slide across it. Gross. I was charged $.29 for a water cup. Cups had not been stocked at the register (even though the team leader and the employee had been standing there talking when we walked in) so the employee had to go to the back room to get a sleeve of cups before we could check out. My husband went to get our table while I filled drinks. He finally found one that was relatively clean after checking three other dirty tables. The guacamole had a funny taste. When someone came by to check on us (I was glad to see them do that) we told him about the guacamole and he didn't hesitate to bring us some fresh. Unfortunately that didn't taste any better. :( It was just really, really bad. I hate leaving reviews like this. Amazing place. Great food. We eat here several times a month. When I first started going there, our order wasn't always correct. Some things would be different with each order. Had to complain one time and the owner took care of it and replaced our meal the next time. Great service, great people, great food and awesome curbside pickup option. I would recommend designating 1 or 2 spots in front of the store as curbside pickup spots so the employees can just look out and see someone waiting. read more

Monday afternoon, My husband, my children, and myself went into the restaurant. The staff was rude beyond belief. The young man working the register, Josiah, was heard making fun of my 4 year old disabled daughter because she cannot talk yet so she makes her own noises to communicate with her father, siblings, and myself. My children were hungry and didnt want to leave, so I ignored the rude young man and began our order as my husband seated our 3 children. I paid for my 2 entrees and 3 kids meals. I went over to the drink machine and noticed something weird with the ice I had put into my children's cups. Just the ice alone had a strong odor. I looked closer at the drink machine and noticed there was mold in the ice chamber as well as the entire drink machine. How could someone allow children to drink mold? I went to the counter to complain and ask for a refund and was told that there was nothing they could do. They completely dismissed the fact that there was mold. By the time I was done talking with the manager, Dustin, our food was ready. My husband and I ordered burritos. I decided to see what the food looked like compared to the drink machine. As soon as I opened the tinfoil the burritos fell apart and my children's little quesadillas were burnt. Again I went to the counter and asked to speak with the manager but he had left and no one would provide me with his contact information. Thats when Josiah, the young man working the register, said profanities in front of my small children, calling me horrible names and informed me that I would not be receiving a refund even if there was mold in the drink machine and our food was an absolute mess. The person you are and how you treat your paying customers reflects on the "business" you are running. With that said, I highly recommend no one eat at this establishment for fear of becoming severely sick due to mold. If there is mold in the drink machine, imagine what is behind the counter away from customer eyes. Just earlier today I was informed that children are supposed to eat free on mondays. However, I paid for my 3 children's meals and was told they will not refund me. read more

I ordered from surcheros earlier this week via doordash. Excited to try new Mexican food in the area, I ordered beefy nachos, extra beef...with grilled veggies. I am sTiLL looking for the beef! There was none, though the amount of money I paid for the meatless nachos snaffu certainly reflected the cost of beef. So, I called. Manager jUst left, call back in an hour. Called back in 2 hrs. Sorry, it's the owner and he isn't coming in again. As I was told that only the owner has authority to fix this issue, I called the next day. Same thing. Moral of the story? Go to Moe's! Or Peppers.
