Pauline does a great job and they charge at least 30 dollars less for highlights than the next cheapest place I've gone to. My stylist gave me an undercut but didn't ask me how long I wanted it, or how high I wanted it. It originally was super crooked, my neck is also pretty cut up from the razor. Other stylists came and helped to correct it. I really don't wanna bash her or the place, she was kind and the place is great, but it was an interesting experience that could have gone much better. read more

Very very nice staff...but I made a mistake coming here. My only instructions were to taper and fade the sides and back and that I like the length on top, but need the tips cleaned up. So what does the guy do? 10 minute haircut where he pulls my hair on top up and cuts it from like 2.5 inch to 1 inch...for someone who also told you they're losing their hair so keep the length...this is not a good move read more

I got a great cut here once, so when I returned a few months later, imagine my surprise. The stylist I had used was not there, but I sat in the "waiting area" for a very long time. About 3 feet away from me was a station, where someone was getting a cut from a stylist who was engaged in three-way banter with her client and some unknown person. They were laughing it up and wasting time while I sat on the bench. The next stylist then sat a customer who had walked in a long while after I did. After about 20 minutes I just got up and left. They are very nice I'll give them that but quality and know how..or no not leaves something to be desired. My hair is uneven, did not measure, did not separate into sections..when I mentioned ur techniques are scaring me my haircut was over and a wind fall of a hair dry.. Sean gives a expert stylest high end hair cut for a bargain price,comparable to any haircut I have recieved in expensive, upscale salons all over the country that charge upwards of 75$ per hair cut and/or trim. He is kind, respectful and upbeat. I always leave with a smile on my face. I found him 14 years ago for my husbands hard to cut hair, then tried him years later when my stylist was out of town. Cannot complain about Sean's ability as a stylist. I am out of there under $20 after tip and have a clean stylish cut everytime. Sean is always very kind and gives great attention to each guest. He has one of those frequency cards so that at some point you get a free haircut. Had a great pixie/boy cut with fading from Lisa. She salvaged my hair after another stylist had butchered a shaggy pixie cut. A day before coming to Surecuts, I drove to Freemont to a highly rated stylist and spent $100 on a shaggy pixie cut that was nowhere near my vision or the picture I showed. In search of another stylist to fix the cut, I read reviews on yelp and Surecuts popped up. It's down the street from my house so I thought I'd give this place a try for the very affordable price. It only cost $20 for walk-in, no appointment required. Lisa exceeded my expectation. She talked me through the cut and showed me with the mirror several times to see if I wanted adjustments, which I greatly appreciated. My hair is thick and very straight. Because of my flat back head, it's deceiving how much hair I have and it can be difficult to accomplish a voluminous look. Lisa texted my hair so that it wouldn't fall flat. I'd definitely come back. JEN is fabulous! She just cut my mother's hair and did an awesome job. Very precise cut, and so cute! My precious mom is 91 years old and battling dementia, and I also work with the elderly; so I am very cognizant of how people treat our elders. Jen was kind and gentle, but not patronizing, and treated my mother with respect, while also being aware of her hearing and memory loss. I also saw another older woman getting her hair cut at another chair, and her hair looked fantastic, too! And I noted they shared hugs before she left. They really seem to care about their clients. I've never been here before, but we both will be returning, and highly recommend it! I have curly hair and I had a really bad experience here. I should have gone somewhere more professional since I have a specific kind of hair, but that being said I asked for a shoulder length cut and the lady cut it more than two inches shorter than that, and it was asymmetrical. I looked like a bad photo from the 80s. So I went back and tried to get it fixed but the damage was done. The hairdresser just did NOT know how to cut curly/wavy hair and therefore should not have dealt with me. I'm never going back there again-- if you have curly/wavy hair (or have a specfic look you want that might be difficult) BEWARE.. thats all im sayin read more

The woman cutting my hair seemed like she was just winging it. She didn't do an even fade so she just kept going higher in order to compensate. She also left a random chunk of hair on the short side of the part line. This one's going to be hard to fix. There were definitely barbers in there that seemed to know what they were doing. I give 2 stars rather than 1 because of cleanliness. However, the skill of these barbers/stylists is VERY basic. If you want to come here to get your kid a haircut, go for it. But when it comes to fades & a bit more "fancy" styles, it seems like too big of a challenge for them. I went in with my fiancé, he wanted a fade & whatnot, but as we were waiting, I was looking at the finished work of the barbers & was very unimpressed...worried even. My fiancé typically goes to an amazing barber shop in San Jose, but unfortunately they didn't have an opening that day. We decided to settle for something in Santa Cruz but we didn't want to settle THAT much. After a couple more clients leave, I decide that I don't want to have to look at a bad haircut for a couple weeks & we leave. One of the women at the shop was looking at my fiancé's hair & instead of calling his name, called a little child. It's almost humorous to think that these are licensed cosmetologists, who get nervous when they see someone who cares about their appearance. read more

Called in advance for my 15-month-old's first haircut, said they weren't super busy and to stop on by. Shauna took care of him and she did such a wonderful job!! I guess she used to be a nanny and it totally showed! She played with him and made him feel at ease. Sean is so awesome, he is fast, really nice and does a great cut. He is good with layers and my kids like him. I haven't tried the other stylists. This is a quick in and out place, don't expect fancy salon treatment. Cute, clean salon with cartoons on the Telly. Can be a bit of a wait on the weekend but you can sign up and go to the baglery for a snack while you wait, or go to ace hardware or harts fabric. read more
