We decided to visit this restaurant after viewing it on Yelp. There was no wait. We were greeted immediately by a wonderful young lady. We asked what she recommended and she said either the fish and chips or the fish tacos. We decided to go with the fish and chips and a bowl of the clam chowder. The food came out super hot and fast. The clam chowder was so hot that I burned my mouth and throat eating it, but it tasted amazing. I prefer a little thicker clam chowder, but it did have some nice large piece so clams in the chowder which was a nice surprise. The fish and chips were well seasoned. I was expecting a tempura batter, but this was more of a Louisiana corn meal batter. It had a nice crisp on it. The fries had a delicious seasoning on them as well. We had a large portion of fries to go with the 6 pieces of fish that my husband and I shared. The coleslaw was very crisp and refreshing. It was a vinegar based but had a sweet undertone. The whole meal was good, but was a little different than what we expected. Update: Contacted restaurant about the hot calm chowder as it severely burned my mouth and throat. Very hard to contact the owner. The manager hung up on me and was very rude about it. I would watch yourself and be careful eating the clam chowder as it scalds the mouth. read more

Ok let's go for the first review of this place. It's been open a week (since beginning of July). Very small and quaint but the owner works the register which is always a good sign. I walked by a few times and decided to try it today and I highly recommend them. I ordered the taco plate, got one kaboom shrimp taco and one fried fish taco. Both were good but I prefer the shrimp taco that one was delicious. Plate also comes with fries and coleslaw. $20 out the door is about the going rate these days and it is quite a bit of food. The owner was super friendly, also offered me a sample of their clam chowder and lobster bisque (I prefer the clam chowder but both were good). If you're downtown Huntington Beach go give them a shot, you won't be disappointed. Or leave hungry! read more

This is our family's new go to place for a fish and chips! You get to choose the type of fish you want and everything always comes out fresh. The last time we went, we tried the kaboom shrimp and that's gonna be a new staple with our order from now on! The staff is always friendly and the prices are decent for being on Main Street. Carlos, the owner was truly so kind and the service was amazing. The food.... sooo delicious- the fish and chips were the best I've had in my life. Me and my friend (young girls) were sitting outside enjoying our wonderful meal when a man starting talking to us, the conversation started politely and friendly but as time went on he starting saying some things that made us uncomfortable. Prices are very high for quality of fish. I might be willing to give this another shot and try some of their other menu items but I was very disappointed with the quality of the salmon I got. It was dry and flavorless. The people who worked there were friendly and accommodating but unfortunately, for a fish grill, I was disappointed with the lack of options for seasoning of the fish and the taste itself. Probably one of the driest salmon I've had in a long time and that on top of how expensive it is, not worth it. The vegetables/fries were good, though and service was friendly which is why it's getting a 2 instead of a 1. If you're going to have the word "fish" in your name, people are going to expect the FISH to be GOOD. Their fish didn't live up to the name unfortunately and I was really hoping to like this place too :( read more

i really wanted to like this place but meh. while just walking by it, we decided to check out the menu. how can you get fish n chips wrong? they had potential, since you can choose how they cook the fish (grilled, fried, etc.) my husband opted for grilled on his single fish taco. we are not spice lovers for various reasons including dietary ones, so it would have been nice if they told us beforehand so we could tell them to hold the bang bang sauce or whatever. i opted for the fish n chips but no slaw. you'd think that if i opted for no slaw, they coulda given me more fries or something else, but nope. didn't care for the breading on the fish.. panko? not sure.i prefer beer batter but again that was never described on their digital menu. as someone who genuinely likes supporting local places, especially in a busy beach town of HB, we'll be walking right along down the street and going to better places next time. for what they charged it really wasn't worth it. oh and although the girl at the register was very friendly, she kept pushing the chowder and bisque samples on us. read more
