We love Zubies Dry Dock. Food is always great with a casual atmosphere, playing games on the various televisions for the sports nuts. Our favorite items are the clam strips, prime rib, prime rib cheese steak, fish & chips, various tacos & house salad! Handicap parking out front is nice for the called in orders to go. Very confusing at first especially if it's your first time and just walk past the surf board with instructions lol. However once you read, just grab a menu and get seated anywhere. When you're ready to order we did try the bar but the directed us to another window walking more down towards the back/ pick up area. Food was good, would definitely return. Unfortunately forgot to take photos of the food but managed to get the little one chomping on a wing! Staff comes around to pickup, at least when we went there wasn't a need to pick up as much. Fun! I have lived in HB for 23 years and I can't believe I waited this long to try Zubies. Good drinks and reasonable prices. My nephew loved the arcade games. I'm a sucker for happy hour. Zubies has a good selection on HH. I ordered the clam strips. One of my favorite seafood items. They were okay...the clam strips were a little too extra crispy for me (I did not request extra crispy). Would I go back? Yes, absolutely! Would I order the clam strips again? This place is an institution. I just visited and hadn't been there in more than thirty years. Spacious: easy for large families/groups to grab a seat. Service is efficient... Order at different counters (cocktails, raw bar, or food). Lots of TVs and some games for kids. Super casual. The food is fine. Nothing special. Pizzas are probably the best thing they have. I brought a friend to Zubies who had never been and for the first time I ate in the bar area. A friend who frequents Zubies gave me a tip that she prefers the bar menu and my friend that came with me wanted Oysters. I also did not know Zubies had a happy hour menu, which is awesome. My friend ordered Oysters on the Half Shell and the Happy Hour Fish & Chips. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Blackened with a baked potato, vegetables and side salad. All of the food was fresh, delicious and the portions are generous. The bartender who waited on us was very friendly, personable and provided excellent service. This is our second time at Zubies. The first time we came in too late for food, but the drinks were very good. The wait staff was accommodating and we were looking forward to our next visit. That was the good visit. Second time was not too good. It was a Sunday afternoon, the place was crowded with many locals and while sitting at the bar, we felt pretty unwelcome, so I would say the ambience was lacking for sure. My hubs had a Kona big wave and the taste was off. Like the mines were not cleaned? He did have the wings which he said were decent and he would order again. I stuck with Vodka/soda. Decent pour. More and more locals kept coming in and dragging barstools over to where there was no room and expected us to move, I was already crammed up against a pillar. There was no place for us left to go except to leave.. The bartender looked at us like well move. Did not interfere at all, can anyone say Fire code infraction? Anyhoo, if you're a local you'll definitely dig the vibe even if bar seating is lacking. We had planned on ordering more food and trying pizza, but it was just impossible with the seating. My wife and I haven't been here in over a decade, but it's nice to know things haven't changed. It's still a beautifully decorated and wonderful place to bring the family for a good meal. They have a few arcade games, but I don't recommend playing the candy crane game as myself and the kids were only able to capture 1 piece of candy at each attempt. The food here is great, the pizza has it's own unique flavor and the Caesar salad we ordered was fresh and crisp. The time from order to the pager going off was just over 20 minutes, so the service was a bit on the slow side. However, they were helpful when we went to pick it up from the counter. read more

We like to go for their fish and chips special. It's plenty big enough for two seniors. The fish is battered and crispy and the fries are tasty. You order at a window and they give you a pager for your meal. It doesn't take that long until they buzz you that it's ready. Very casual dry dock feel, with picnic tables and condiments on a back table to serve yourself. Whenever we've been in here, people seem relaxed and in a good mood. Drove all the way to Zubie's based on advertising hours, only to find out the restaurant closed an hour earlier! An entire hour! The rude and unempathetic bartender nonchalantly said, "oh, we close early when it's slow." It's obviously slow a lot because the place looks dead outside. I wouldn't be suprised if this local "staple" closed within the year. We used to come here all the time and the place was packed. We stopped coming because my ahi dinner was incredibly fishy and not fresh and the "side salad" was browning. My wife won't even come here, the only reason I came tonight is because she is out of town. Let me tell you, she was right and this is the last time. This is a sham of a seafood place and it's really not clean and pretty gross. If you aren't sure about seafood, DO NOT come here or you'll probably never eat it again. I'm so disappointed that this restaurant has tanked. Terrible, lackluster, LAZY service and people who don't give a crap about their jobs or how they represent a place. Take your business to Market Broiler, Hook & Anchor, or even Yardhouse. All much better and more consistent. read more

I usually love going for the pizza but I guess we got to be dressed up to get something at the bar. I've already had two bad experiences going to the bar there. The bartenders are rude. I gave them my id and they told me it didn't look like me. Well I'm not all dressed up to get a pizza and beer. It was a brunette lady who assisted me. She even asked for my zodiac sign when questioning me about my real id. The first time I went there the bartender was really rude. This older lady had to double check my id twice and didn't believe that was me. I don't have problems with my id anywhere else except here. So it makes wonder if they target people based on looks. I just wanted to feel comfortable and eat at a welcoming restaurant but it didn't feel that way at all. The bartenders need a better way to approach things like that and work on their customer service. read more

It's fish and chips day. Ordered. Excited to get four large pieces. Couple ounces fish at most. I've posted a photo showing most of the deep fried batter I removed. If you love deep fried batter with fish flavor, this is your place! Did come with iceberg salad and veggies but the fries were sub par. I didn't ask but I assume all fried in seed oil. Best fish and chips I've had locally is at union Jack. Mostly fish with a little batter. I can't comment on the rest of Zubi's food as I haven't been in since it changed hands. read more

Parents love this spot. Very interesting vibe. It gives me vibes of being at the dock of a beach, where you can get like typical beach food. However it was also a bar and had a bunch of tvs and video games for the kids. Very dive bar feel. There's two different stations to order food. One is strictly seafood/oyster bar, the other one is all the fried/griddle dishes. I think you can order whatever you want from either station. Service was nice. You order first and they give you a number in which you bring back to your bench. From there they will deliver your food. We shared fish and chips and the Mexican ceviche. Honestly best fish and chips ever. So crisp and juicy!very fresh! Ceviche was good and tasted fresh. Overall food was good, but definitely nothing that is blow your mind crazy. We love this place BUT the bathrooms are utterly disgusting. You can smell it if you're anywhere within a 30 ft radius. The fans sometimes push the scent around the restaurant as well. With that said, the food is very good. We've been for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. The food is good with large portions. Their clam chowder is AMAZING. I've been to Zubies quite a few times over the last 25 years but have been going more frequently as we moved very close to it. Zubies isn't perfect, but the prices are great, the bartender gals are cool and most of the food is solid. You can get a big ol' French dip with cheese and fries for $11.99! You can't even get a Carl's Jr combo for that anymore. They also have prime rib every day a a reasonable price, great clam chowder, baked mussels and all kinds of other stuff. I waited to eat here twice before writing this review. From the outside, it seems small as it rests in the corner of the center next to goodwill. But when you enter, it's huge! There are no hosts to greet you. Everything is pretty much self-serve. It's like a large dining hall. The order counter is towards the back. You place your order and find a table, bench-style, then wait for your buzzer to go get your food. Utensils and condiments are there to grab. The decor reminds me of a German Ale house. The bar has good selections of wines and beer. There's even an oyster bar. There are daily specials and I've partaken in two of them. The price is very reasonable which was a big draw. As for the food, the prime rib was decent and you get a huge serving. I think it was 10 oz. It comes with two sides of your choice and a salad. I can't say much for the fish and chips. It wasn't a hit for me. The place was packed on prime rib day but completely opposite for fish and chips. The portions are huge and can feed two. Food comes out rather quick. There are no servers but staff to clear your table. Staff are friendly and helpful. I good experience overall and light on your pocket. I'll be back for rib eye day.
