***BE CAUTIOUS OF THIS PLACE -- RATED F ON BBB*** This is the first time I've had an oil change done where I didn't receive any paperwork showing what they did despite me asking for it when I came to collect my keys an hour later. They looked at me as if I was speaking Japanese. Did they top up my fluids? Did they complete the tire rotation? Was ultra premium synthetic oil that I was UPCHARGED for $20 (after already spending $79.99 on a Groupon for synthetic oil) even applied? I gave them my email (wrote it down for them) so they can figure it out and send me a receipt showing what was fully done but I never received it. They saw a sucker (me) paying the extra $20 and took full advantage of me. Also, the inside of my car door was all grimey and greasy as if they just ate lunch and didn't wash their hands, it was pretty gross. Update as of Jan. 2026: I posted this in May 2025 on Google and it's not appearing so I'm reposting on Yelp and will continue try posting on Google to raise attention of their poor ethics taking advantage of people. Took a car in for an exhaust repair estimate. He was very quick and efficient at identifying the problem and explaining what was required.

This guy called Sam, is a scammer, a liar and very very rude. I first got to his garage in 2022 using the groupon coupon. He up-sold the regular oil change to Synthetic oil and charged me more. The next interactions with him were inspection of foreign import vehicles mostly from Japan. As his shop is just near my place (20 minutes walk), I thought I would just got him instead of far places like New Westminster and Langley. The first two inspections were somehow overly charged, I complained but I paid him his repairs and inspection fees. On the third inspection, he was charged me $990 rear main seal for the oil leaking and $400 for the transmission fluid flush. On another occasion, I took another vehicle for inspection and he was charging me $430 just to install lower control arms (had bought my own parts online. I told him you are overcharging me and I got them installed for $200 both at Eurostar Auto. When I came back he said the CVSE website is for registering vehicles is down, the following day he said the same thing and I knew he was lying because I called them and they said their systems are up and running. On the third day he said he will charge me re-inspection fee because I went and had the work done for half price of what he was charging me. On top of that he said his inspection fees has gone to $400 from $179.00. This guy is such nuisance to deal with because he loves money, his shop is always empty. worst nightmare ever lived, stay away, total scam. my name is marcus and this is my experience i took my car on 2023-12-27, to fix the engine light on, and the air conditioning, separate diagnosis charges of 90 cad each. diagnostics 180 cad spark plugs 92 cad - labor 110 cad ignition coils 540 cad valve cover 187 cad - labor 225 cad ac recharging - 149 cad blower motor - 247 cad - labor 221 cad blower motor resistor - 119 cad shop supplies - 7 cad labor 7 cad total 1341 + 743 (labor) = 2084 plus taxes = 2334.08 i pay in cash at 4:30 pm, for the service to be cheaper he charges in cash (without paying the taxes), he didn't give the receipt, i stayed until the end of the day in the store at around 5:30 pm and the parts would not arrive, the next day i tried to cancel the service early at 7:30 am, and he said it had already started the work and the pieces were already there. after the service was done, the car continued with the engine light on, he said it would be because of the oxygen sensor, for which it was not quoted. almost 3 weeks later the car was leaking oil, taken it to another mechanic who said it would be at the top, where was the valve cover, i took the car again to the manager who is called sam, requesting a warranty, today 2024-01-22, he said the leak would be at the lower part, even though the other mechanic carried out the inspection and had a report. in summary, my car is leaking oil after spending almost 2100 cad, with a 90-day warranty on parts and service, not a month has passed, and he excuses that it is another thing, they have no commitment to the customer, terrible service, the star i give for this place it will be -11, if was possible to put here. stay away, run away from this place. i will pass on my experience to all the people i know. the bad reviews here are true, i wish i had seen them before leaving my car in the hands of this "mechanic". read more

Purchased a Groupon and the original posting mentions that the replacement filter will be included in the cost but now this place wants an additional $21 for the filter and additional fee for replacing the filter. So after paying for the Groupon he wants an additional$35 to be paid to the shop. Please do not but Groupon for this place. Owner is not professional and avoids Groupon vouchers. read more

Took my car there (Surrey Centre Auto Repairs [SCAR from here on.]) yesterday (May 2, 2022. My mechanic is closed Monday's and I needed it fixed ASAP.) to get the thermostat replaced. The owner recommended that I get a diagnostic to make sure that was the problem. So I got it done. That's when things started going wrong. He said the the radiator is leaking. Needs a new one. Rad hoses too. Also needed a new transmission cooler and lines. All in all, a $400 job turned into $1500 to fix the car. He never replaced the transmission cooler or lines. Got a call a DAY later and he tells me the car is ready. I go to pick it up but could only do $1000 on my bank card, maxed for the day. Told them I'd drive to the bank and bring back the $500 right away. "Sorry we can't release the car until its paid in full." Took a bus to the bank and got the money out and paid them. The invoice says the temperature gauge works only sometimes (always worked before he got it) and also the engine light stays on (never did before - in fact it had no reason to come on). Now I drive my car away. First thing I noticed is the transmission doesn't shift the same as it did before. Took it to the mall (about a mile) and parked it while I had a coffee. Came out and backed my car out of the parking stall when I noticed a puddle of transmission fluid on the ground where I parked. Called my regular mechanic and asked him if he would top up the fluid. Get the car over to him just a few blocks away from the mall. He checks the fluid and there is NONE left to register on the stick. We schedule an appointment in 2 days to go over what's been done and what's happening. So I go to start the car to take it home and everything goes DEAD!!! No power anywhere. Can't start the car now. So could this be why the temp gauge only works sometimes? What did he do to short out the electrical system. So now I paid $1500 for him to break my car enough that it doesn't run anymore and I have to pay ANOTHER mechanic to fix what he broke. DON"T TAKE YOUR CAR HERE !!!!!! UPDATE: Just heard from my mechanic today (May 5, 2022), and basically all the work SCAR did has to be redone with all new parts again. To SCAR's credit, he did replace the radiator with a new one. Only problem is he broke it putting it in. The transmission fluid lines were leaking like crazy from busted fittings. Both me and my mechanic know that the rad didn't need replacing because he did a pressure test on it a few months ago and found no leaks from the rad. Bottom line is - DON"T GET SCARRED TAKING IT TO SCAR !!! read more

spoke with a mechanic on the phone about an oil change. the mechanic said the groupon deal I purchased wasn't valid when it was, instead told me they would validate the groupon if I paid an additional $80. the mechanic was very rude on the phone swear at me several times claiming I had attitude with him when I didn't. Surrey Auto Center has a bunch of scam artists working at it. They did my oil change then I had a mechanic working on something else and let me know my oil filter hadn't been changed and was rusty. (At this point I had already had a break job done from them) which I started wondering if they actually did because my breaks were squeaking. Then I took it to another place to have it checked out and it turns out my back breaks (which were supposed to be done a few weeks previous) are at 0%. I had a power steering leak. They told me it was a leaking steering rack, so I authorized it. Then they told me my power steering pump was bad so my total came to $2700. Came back after three weeks of vacation and I noticed a leak under my car, so I brought it back and was told it was it was leaking line, and they're charging me $700 for it. I highly doubt it was a leaking steering rack to begin with. Called two other shops and was told they over charge and have a bad reputation. read more

Just submitted my car for detailing (will update). Staff seemed pretty nice and told me that 90 will be charged for shampoo (not mentioned on groupon). I have some stains on the car seats that is removable using armor all spray but the person still warned me that the stain might not come off even with the shampoo. It wasn't really reassuring but oh well. Kind of anxious to see the final product due to all of the negative review but I hope to have some good service. read more

Do Not go to this mechanic. Up sells on unnecessary fixes on your car. My car was stalling and having no power on ignition random times throughout the week, so I brought it here. They charged me around 1100$ for (air sensor) fixes to get the problem fixed, afterwards I continued to have the same problem. I found out it was a loose Battery terminal That was causing the power/stalling problem and had it fixed for free from someone else. Note they will absolutely not do any type of refund. DO NOT GO TO this mechanic unless you want to pay something you don't need. On the positive side they sell cheap groupon oil changes. read more

Amused to see reviews but here is LIVE EXPERIENCE. THE CAR: Car broke down - not starting. Surrey Center Auto Repairs consulted and was tow was arranged. THE DIAGNOSE: No estimate on paper was given - on phone it was informed that 1700 CAD will be for repairs. But final bill comes to more than 2K. TROUBLE: Car ran for 3-4 kms and broke down in middle of road- Car returned back to Surrey Centre Auto Repairs. After few days, a call came, requesting customer to visit them- they want to show something. They had already opened up the engine , and client was told that it needs engine overhaul with new parts coming from USA. DOUBLE TROUBLE: there was no estimation but what client was shown on computer - 1000 CAD bill but final charges again escalated to 1600. Total expenditure on repairs goes to 4000 plus CAD. BREAKDOWN AGAIN: Car again came up with engine light on and not starting normally - and this time - client decided to contact CHEVROLET dealer in Surrey and post the bill to SURREY CENTRE AUTO REPAIRS. ABUSIVE: When contacted - they declined to boot the bill and angrily said " Go to Hell" CONCLUSION : This issue is going to court - media, mayor and agencies will be contacted and involved in this unprofessional, harassment and unlawful practice. read more

Pretty affordable, spacious waiting area and a really communicative staff. They don't pressure you into all the add ons. I came in for a quick oil change seeing their signage for $29.99. the owner's wife made me a cup of hot chocolate and the owner said if you come before noon you get a free breakfast or lunch while you wait! I took my car to Surrey Centre Automotive today with a Groupon certificate and they tried to rip me off. When I arrived at the garage for an engine oil change the manager told me I needed "synthetic" oil at an additional cost. I told him my car did not use synthetic oil, that I had oil changes previously in that car to standard type oil. He was insistent, and eventually even pointed inside the engine compartment in the car to the oil filler cap to prove his point. His mistake, the EO cap reads 5W-20 and does not note anything about synthetic oil. Synthetic oil has never been used in the car (this would have been my 3rd oil change). I bought the car new and it did not have synthetic oil when it arrived from the factory. (I've checked my owners manual just now to make sure and this car does not require synthetic oil.) The garage guy told me "5W-20" specifically meant it was synthetic oil. What he didn't know - I was using 5W20 oil more than 45 years ago, before "synthetic" oil around (or was available for general use in retail shops). At the minimum - he is a very poor liar or does not know about cars, or oil. I would not trust the Surrey Centre Automotive people to change YOUR oil, and I will not trust them to work on my car. read more

But with in 15 min, the mechanic came out and said it is fixed. when I turned on the car the light is still there, I ask him what is going on, the owner came out and start yelling at me, really too bad. very poor customer service. Whatever you do, do not take your vehicle to Surrey Centre Auto Repairs! Awful customer service, aggressive and abusive behaviour, incompetence, rip-off misdiagnoses and overpricing. I took my car to Sam for a routine service and to resolve a check-engine light issue. On day one, I received a call after 5 hours from Sam telling me I needed to replace a thermostat. This is a component he had already replaced on an earlier service and now had broken again within less than 5,000 KM. He also told me I needed to change the timing belt and water pump as the car was close to 70,000 KM. Stupidly, because I still trusted Sam at this point, I agreed to the work, although checking in the manufacturer's handbook I have since seen the timing belt should have been good until at least 100,000 KM. At the end of the day, I returned to the garage to pick up my car. On getting in to drive away, I saw the check engine light was still on. When I told Sam about this and asked why he believed the timing belt needed to be changed when it wasn't due, I received a torrent of foul-mouthed abuse and a refusal to look at the vehicle again at that time because it was now after closing hours. Wow. The next business day, I brought the car back to Sam who had now calmed down and offered to make the situation right. He said he would check all the work that had been done and find the source of the check engine light issue. After several hours, I received a call from Sam saying this time an exhaust solenoid needed to be changed. This was not a crazy expensive repair, so, just wanting an end to the situation, I agreed to it (very stupidly). At the end of the day, I went back the garage to find, to my dismay, Sam still working on the car. I asked him what was going on and when he would be finished. I got the impression at that point that he would need to hold onto my car over night, to which I protested triggering another tirade or swearing and shouting. I was then thrown out of the garage waiting room while Sam quickly threw my car back together pronouncing it "fixed" and went off for a test drive. After paying my bill for the day's "work", I drove the car 100 meters up the road only to see the check engine light together with the battery light come on on the dash. With my car in a worse state than when I originally went in, I went straight back to the garage and demanded they fix the problems. Sam declared that these were new problems that must have manifested in the 100 meters drive away from the garage and could not possibly have been related to the work he had done. I stood my ground as this was clearly ridiculous. He then very reluctantly agreed to take a look seeing almost immediately that an alternator connection had been left disconnected. He then went to work on the car telling me all the while he was now "doing this for free". FREE after I'd paid $2500! He got the alternator reconnected eventually after what looked like patching together a band-aid fix with a soldering iron and I finally got my car back. He reset the other warning light saying that was now the end of it. I drove the car home during which time the check engine light came on again! Needless to say, I've had enough and won't be taking it back. This was an awful, awful experience. I understand that cars are complicated systems and people make mistakes but refusing to admit to them and make the situation right is unforgivable in my book, as is trying to bully customers with abusive, aggressive behaviour. I feel like I have been robbed of $2500 for work that didn't need to be done and now have a car that's actually in a worse condition (owing to the band aid alternator repair) than when I first took it in. I recently had my oil changed here. Part of the oil change means checking my air and cabin filters. My car now makes an awful sound when I turn my heat on past three. I brought it back in and he said "I'm not sure why it's happening but it's nothing we did." I replied with "it didn't make this noise before I brought it in." Waited half an hour just to be spoken to and then the lady looks at the car and calls the technician to get started on the detailing. I went in for an oil change with an online coupon. The customer service was excellent until out found out why they were giving me free Indian food first thing in the morning. The owner (Sukh) came back and told me my transmission oil was very low and I needed to add 10 (TEN) liters of of transmission oil at $10 a liter. When I told him I didn't have that money, he offered to top up 2 liters at $20 which I agreed to. I drove away and less than a kilometer later, I got a low oil pressure light. My engine was shaking violently. Further investigation from GM revealed that max top up for transmission oil in my vehicle was 0.5 liters. Further, the low oil pressure message won't go away and they are yet to own up. Do yourself a favour. Skip that cheap oil change. It's a bait. read more

I was Very happy with the service from the guy behind the desk, was very informing me, and never pressured me to buy. he told me what the problem was and how much it would cost. and I was able to get it done right there, well I had to wait abit , and was offered coffee , but the Mall is so close just walked there and did my shopping, All together it took around 2.5 hour. First of all God bless them and their business. It was heavy snow that day and i made call different places but all booked up and waiting list was for two weeks and i needed and oil change and winter tires being installed desperately. They took me although it was last minute call and the office hour was 30 minutes away , heavy snow and 30 minutes delay due to weather. The service was 5 stars. Honest, straight forward and polite. As soon as we sat down, the gentleman served us hot chai tea, and a bowl of soup for the perfect weather. I can't thank you enough for their hospitality. $1500 rip off & false diagnosis, lies! I fell for Groupon last year, so while being there for an "oil change", the owner advised me that car required a "shaft", which was necessary to change for both front tires, so I was out in $750, notably car never had any issues before. Very next day car stopped starting like usual and it would take multiple tries but sometimes it will, then it went to not starting at it all in 2 days ( wknd). Sukhwinder looked at it again, charged me for 1.5 DAYS of hourly rate for diagnosis time, repairs, parts and taxes, totalling $1500. As a single woman who just moved to surrey and had one hour of each way work commute; I had no option but to trust him. Not to mention I had to take 3 days off work, not even a courtesy shuttle for 7-8 mins drive. I argued why it took him so long to diagnose, he said it was too complicated (usual sedan car). I kept following up every few hours during those two days. His words & amount weren't setting with me as I have been driving 15 years and I've owned this car last 6 years. "Why it took TWO days for a trained mechanic to diagnose something like a starting issue?" Luckily a week later, I came across this Amazing German mechanic, who without looking at the car tells me, if battery & usual things are ruled out, basic check of "cam sensor" should be next, for which 1-2 hour labour tops. Sure enough my invoice says "resetting cam sensor"... Not even changing And whatever else he did for $1500. This is my first ever review of anything...I couldn't help. But when I got there, the owner had accidentally double-booked and told me it would be an hour, but I ended up waiting nearly 2 hours total. They did serve some complementary homemade curry though, and hot chocolate too while I waited. I like supporting local family-run businesses, but I wish the service would have been quicker seeing as I phoned in beforehand and made an appointment. Do NOT take your vehicle to this place. I recently brought a vehicle into BC from Alberta, and had a full provincial inspection done by my trusted mechanic. Everything checked out and was perfect. After driving it around town for a month, I realized I wasn't too sure when the last time it had an oil change. I purchased a Groupon for Surrey Centre Auto and brought my vehicle in for JUST a simple oil change. While they were changing the oil, they called me and said that there were a few fluids that need flushing, the brakes need to be changed soonish; the usual. I actually agreed and let them flush my power steering fluid, as it may not have been done for a very long time as well. We returned to the shop where the owner was very courteous and helpful, and he sent us on our way. We were in a rush on our way to a work event, and that's when it began... The most horrid gruesome grinding sound began to erupt from my front left tire well as I drove. I didn't have a choice to stop or anything, we HAD to go. The next day the shop was closed, and the sound continued to get worse. I called them on Monday morning, and they had us bring the car back to take a look. They told us that the bearing was gone and the tie rods MUST be replaced... EXCUSE ME?! Then they should have paid for it because the car was JUST inspected a month ago and everything was completely perfect. I wondered what the hell they did to my car?! The manager said no a lot of things can happen to a car in a month, and that the repairs will be over $600. I thought BULLS*&# and told them to give me my car I'm leaving. I got my keys, left and guess what... The grinding noise was GONE! Not only did they sabotage my car either directly or by accident, I was forced to return which they took no responsibility for and tried to scam us into more unnecessary work. this is my first time taking a car for a check up,most other times I fix it myself when I am experiencing problems. I went in for a oil change and a presale check up for my 98 mid sized sedan ,the staff are nice, went in the morning they served me breakfast. So i waited for an hour I got handed this list of things to fix. most things looks like I can do them myself like engine mounts,control arm bushings,oil pan gasket. their labor is pricey for things thats easy to fix it your self. I make well above average income but still. I did not feel pressured in to fix it now. I know my car and my guts pretty well to detect intentions. They said I needed a break flush and a power steering flush, I am a DIY guy and changed them both two month ago. so not sure if its a easy up sale or true. going to check it myself. After the oil change, my brake starts to make this click sound most time i press it. this never happened before. and the dirty paper foot floor mat was left inside when got my car back. I am going to a friend for a trusted second opinion if everything is wrong with my car is real. I've used them several times for oil changes, ATF change and front brakes with no complaint. Recently had problems with 2 services. Had my headlights changed on my Yaris which isn't easily done by the vehicle owner due to severely constricted space in engine compartment. Several weeks later noticed headlights weren't aligned and returned. One of the fellows worked on them but they turned out even worse. He said sorry.. don't have anything else to try. Went to dealership and was told a small piece/fitting that holds them in alignment was broken off requiring a complete headlight fixture replacement ($350). Had my rear brake shoes replaced. Great braking for a couple of days afterward but got steadily softer after that (also a LOT of play in emergency brake). Went back and they did an adjustment with the same results. Occasionally my brakes would be quite responsive but mostly decidedly "soft". While at the dealer ship for headlight fixture replacement asked for a brake inspection. Mechanic said one brake shoe had been installed incorrectly which he fixed. Several weeks later and brakes are still very responsive and no play in emergency brake. read more

If possible, I would give minus 5 stars. This review is my first review on Yelp. I do not want other people to be fooled and get ripped off. 6 months ago, my car was in a perfect status after the oil change in this store. Last weekend, after the oil change, the owner's wife called me saying my car had many serious problems, like transmission fluid was much less than the normal, alternative belt had a crack, battery was leaking, break needed to be replace, all tires had cracks and needed to change. I had transmission fluid change two years ago, and only had less than 20 k mileage afterwards. The transmission fluid should be fine based on my research. However, the owner said if not changing transmission fluid and alternative belt, my car can be lost of control all the sudden during driving. Then I agreed to change the transmission fluid 179 plus tax and alternative belt 24.5 material + 49 labor plus tax. after my first fluid change in the end of 2011, I could feel the sterling of my car was much better. This time, I felt nothing after transmission fluid change. they took my battery out and put a new one ( I got a new battery by myself). Charged 20 plus tax for less than 2 minutes work. Then I went to Canadian tire and Toyota for the second opinion. Canadian tire said my break is good. And Toyota said my tires are ok if I do not drive aggressively. The worst thing was my engine light was on in the first day driving after this maintenance. I found my exhausting tube was loosing, which did not connect to the exhausting. I could not firmly say that this store loosen my exhausting tube to get me back to store and check again without evidence. However, it just happened after the oil change. After all these, I had to suspect this store might do something on exhausting tube. In a conclusion, do not recommend this store. read more

I actually found this place on Groupon and decided to try it out. Turn out to be a very wise choice. The customer service was great they even offered me a plate of Indian food while I waited for my oil change to be completed which was done in a quick 1 hour. They clearly explained any problems they saw with the check up of the vehicle after the oil change and gave a approximate pricing for all the work needed. I recommend you give this place a try and you will not be disappointed! read more

Car was taken here for a minor fuel pump problem they charged 3 hours labour just to find the issue then 2 more to install it for a total of 5 hours labour. that's $400.00 plus parts.This was a straight forward job with no other electrical issues, 3 hours to diagnose a simple problem like this sounds to me like either incompetence or dishonesty and neither is acceptable. read more
