What's amazing is that they tune the each system based on the type of music you listed to. It totally works and I've never had a better system than the one put in my corvette. A few months later it started sounding wrong. AJ stood behind his work -no questions asked, and replaced it. Yesterday I had front & rear security cameras installed. Great install. Solid products. Far better value than competitors around town. Only qualm is scheduling and timing. Had an "appointment" at 9am I had scheduled a week ahead. Everyone for that day showed up at 9 then they just kinda work on everyone's cars in some random order. I asked when it would be ready and was told by 2 or 3. I called at 3 and they had just started on it. Didn't get car til following morning. Great product. Just need to invest in a bit of structure to their appointment / scheduling system to actually meet deadlines. Nice guys as well, if that counts! read more

AJ and the team are great. Had system installed in my kids car at surround sound 3 years ago. My son recently thought his speaker was blown brought it up to surround sound and AJ and holly got me right in they troubleshooted the issue and it was a crossed plug that came out and my kid put it back in the wrong spot in the amp. That is what caused the amp and speakers to sound like they were blown. Straight up honest and dependable, life time warranty on install and there was no charge. Came here because of a supposed reputation of excellent custom work they do for Mercedes dealers. So I thought what could go wrong. They are sloppy and don't care about any issue after the job. Clearly, the choppy sound and on/off levels indicated poor soldering work. They played dumb about it. Wasted way too much money on multiple trips to them. Got the run around about someone not working that day or shifty responses based on anything I say. Should have just paid more at more legit place with a warranty that's actually backed up. Also a crappy waiting area (no restroom) awaits you should you go there. read more

I'll start on a good note. AJ is very friendly. I came to his shop based on previous reviews and one in particular where he did an install of customer supplied gear. Most shops don't like to do this. They prefer to install what they sell. I had a list of parts spec'd out by Crutchfield. He confirmed all the parts are a nice upgrade for my 2014 F-150 and are compatible. The install "looked" great, but here's where the problems started. Firstly I was not wowed by my system. "Where is the bass?" I thought. His tech Joel tried to tell me I won't hear it with Classic Rock but only on modern music with digital bass. I thought B.S. because I worked in professional audio production in my 20s. I got home and discovered Joel had not tuned my amp's settings. For starters the amp was in Hi level rather than Lo. Hi level inputs are for speaker level signal coming from the head unit. I had a PAC Amp Pro added to specifically flatten the signal the factory amp was applying and get a Lo or line level input for my amp. So I fixed that by depressing the corresponding button on my amp. Next my gains were all cranked up... no biggie.. I thought as I was dialing in the proper amp settings, levels, and crossovers for my truck's acoustics and my ears. In general I thought the install was pretty clean... and after spending time with setting my amp properly I am happy with the sound. Big upgrade over the stock Sony system in my 2014 F-150 SuperCrew. But credit doesn't go the AJ and his team. Crutchfield gets the star for recommending the proper gear for my build. A few days ago I was looking to see where they grounded my amplifier. When I pulled back some of the material to expose the ground wire, I detected water. Then I saw a water drop drip from behind my amp. You see it had just rained and I was like WTF!!! why is water inside my truck! Grrrr... then I looked between the cab of my truck and the bed and could see shiny sheet metal screws penetrating my cab. Now my blood is starting to boil. Thankfully the guys over at North Texas Truck Accessories in Lewisville are great to work with. They unscrewed the amp from the bare metal of my truck and plugged the screw holes with black silicone coated pop rivets. But I learned even more. Scott with NTxTA said the Surround Sound guys removed what is known as a cab vent. This is a critical part that Ford and other manufacturers install for a reason. It allows the truck's air pressure to change when you close the doors to prevent the glass from blowing out. AJ and Joel had removed my cab vent and covered it up with Dyna mat. This is not how amplifiers are installed by "professionals". Sure maybe a DYI guy but not someone who charges money for a professional install. To recap so far, the interior of my cab is now compromised. It's no longer water tight. Original factory parts (cab vent) has been removed, holes in my cab and an amp that was installed directly against my cab rather than using an amplifier rack such as ABS or an equivalent. Thanks to Scott for plugging my holes. I ordered a new cab vent to replace the one that Surround Sound removed that costs me $40 and the guys at Earmark Car Audio in Lewisville that Scott referred me to are happy to cut out the Dynamat covering the gaping hole in my truck that Surround Sound's Joel left for me with my new cab vent and then install ABS properly to mount my amplifier. Why did I not just bring it back to AJ and Surround Sound to make them fix? I figured if they do this kind of work to begin with, there are other F-150s driving around leaking and the drivers have no clue water is coming in so I didn't want them touching my truck ever again! Thankfully I discovered the water leak and the very poor workmanship and I'm having it corrected the right way. Maybe AJ will see this and offer some restitution. NEVER let anyone remove cab vents and cover it with dynamat and punch holes in your cab with sheet metal screws. If you do your truck will leak, your amp will get wet and you will fry expensive equipment, not to mention the mildew and water damage. read more

Wonderful place. They will do an installation job at a very, very, reasonable price compared to Car Toys and most other places. The owner, AJ, is incredibly nice - my job was only supposed to take an hour but ended up taking 3 hours because the job was more complicated than they thought. But he didn't charge me extra which was fabulous. Needless to say I wasn't prepared to wait 3 hours, so I got kind of hungry towards the end. There weren't any food places nearby, so he had someone help me out and take me to get food. It was so nice and definitely an extra step that no one else would have taken. Installed an alarm in car a over a year ago and now I can't even lock my car with our it going off randomly. I took it in 3 times and they "looked at it" but the issue was still there and so the last time time I took it in they had my car the whole day I asked them either to replace it or do not waste any more of my time.then he calls me at end of day to let me know they will order a new one for it will be there monday and come back on tuesday. I call them on wednesday and they act as if they do not know what Im talking about and they said they will call me back .... no one ever called back. - Time wasted = 4 total days without a car. Problem solved = no. Will I be going back = no. Will I recommend = NO. Subpar equipment was installed in my vehicle. read more

Light bar: Got a light bar installed on my new pick-up by Surround Sound. I absolutely love it and was so happy with the results. After 8 months three of the LED lights went dull and I was not happy. I called Surround Sound and they replaced it for free, labor included. They were amazing. I have since had another saftey features installed and pleased with the service I received. read more

My husband and I had contemplated getting my car windows tinted, and finally decided to bite the bullet and get it done. A friend of ours recommended this place, so my husband called them from work to inquire about their pricing and hours. They had been running a special on window tinting, which ended the day before, but they were kind enough to offer us the same deal if we could bring my car in that day. We don't live far from the store so I drove my car up there to get it done. The man who I spoke to was very kind and courteous. I jokingly made a remark about how I was planning on walking home since my husband was at work (and we seriously live less than a mile from the place). He insisted on letting one of his workers give me a ride home in my car. I was a little cautious but decided I should have a little faith in people so I took up his offer and avoided a walk in the 100 degree heat! So kind of them, definitely going above and beyond with their customer service! They called me about 4 hours later saying my car was done. Again, he offered to have someone come and pick me up if I needed a ride. My hubby was due to be home at anytime though, so I declined. The tinting looks great so far! It's only been a day but I feel pretty strongly that if I were to have any issues they wouldn't hesitate to fix them. Earmark Audio quoted me a ridiculous price for a similar setup Installation took around 3hrs. The store has a nice waiting area with a couch and gargantuan projector screen showing ESPN all day. Great service and reasonable price I had a set of Dynaudio speakers/amp from Germany I need to install in my car. Asked few stores around, all of them say installation will cost $1500, wth! This installation need welding wires, install harness, extensive rewiring, basically swapping low end system to the premium setup. All 10 speakers in place, 50+ wires gracefully hidden from view. I took the wire and speaker here they do the installation fast and very satisfied-- at a very reasonable price. I'm even happier that they provide me the life time warranty. They ripped me off. I paid $180 for a cheap $100 radio and $85 installation that shoulda been $45 and ended total was $313 that shoulda been $180 . Though I live in San Jose, CA, I was in Dallas for Christmas with family this year and I purchased an after-market Bluetooth hands-free car cell-phone system for my mother for Christmas. Though I purchased the system myself from Amazon, I used Surround Sound to do the installation in my mother's car. I used Yelp to find Surround Sound so I thought I should write a review of my experience. I first had called Earmark because I remembered the name from when I grew up in Dallas many year's ago. But Earmark quoted me an installation price of $400 and up depending on the time for the installation. I had the same system put in my car in San Jose for $100, so $400+ was a shocking quote and I decided to look elsewhere. On Yelp, I saw only a small number of reviews but most very good for Surround Sound. When I called, AJ was very nice and professional and gave me a much more reasonable quote of $80 to $100 for the work. I scheduled an appointment, took the car in, and had it back 2 hours later with the work done. the labor has a lifetime warranty so I have some faith that if my mother has problems, she can take her car in to Surround Sound and they can look at this for her even when I am in California. After the installation, I did notice one problem that was mainly a problem with the after-market Bluetooth system (not a problem with Surround Sound) in that the small video screen came loose from the dash. I called Surround Sound and they told me to bring it back in so they could take a look. They resolved the problem (which was not really their problem, but the box itself) immediately after I got to the store and did not charge anything extra for the work. I was very happy with my experience with Surround Sound and I will recommend them to anyone who asks me about Bluetooth car system installation in the Dallas area. I was especially happy that they worked me in at a busy time of year on less than a day's notice and charged what I feel is a very fair price for the work done (unlike Earmark with their unbelievable $400+ quote).
