We are avid customers at this location. We have had multiple times where we had a large party and had called to make a reservation and were told they don't take reservations. So this last time we had a party of 8 and showed up early to try and be seated, when we were told they couldn't seat anyone even though the big table was open. We literally watched 2 people come and get seated at the table and they proceeded to say the restaurant was booked after 8pm. No signage on the door, no social media or websites posts of this. Some of our guests literally drove an hour to get to the location. If it wasn't for the good food, we wouldn't even go back because everyone was so pissed about the service received the other night. Not to mention the last time we went there and ordered the cheesy plantains, they came out and the cheese inside was not even melted. We complained and told the server, she literally took them back to the kitchen and brought them back out with 3 servings instead of 4. It was the most bizarre thing we had ever seen. Hoping the hospitality and experience gets better because the last 2 time it's been below average serve and food. read more

This place just opened two weeks ago and we are so glad it did! Ordered through Toast Tab and it was waiting when I got there to pick it up. The inside of the restaurant is warm and welcoming and the girl working was super friendly. We got the Ninja Roll, Lotus Roll, Mongolian Beef and Sweet and Sour Edamame. Everything was really good. I wanted a little more salt on the edamame to mix with the sweet chili sauce, but it was still good. The beef and sushi rolls were delish! We visited here on Saturday and were delighted. The best thing we had on the menu was their Mongolian beef - incredible. We had the two tuna rolls which were great but a little heavy on the cream cheese- just depends on your preference. The ambience and decor are minimal yet beautiful. Asked the kind waitress about their opening and found out that they have multiple locations in Spain but this is their first U.S. location. We will definitely be back! Was excited to try this new spot! Very small space, maybe 5 to 6 tables total. Everything had the taste of coconut to it. Apps were solid. Nigiri was ok. They don't have a lot of fish selection. The rolls were not really tasteful? My other go to sushi spots are Sakana and Tori Bar, but we try to find others to switch it up. It gets loud af in there too when people are yapping. We have been trying to find a new sushi spot in South Tampa and came across Sushark on yelp. We went for a late lunch today (Saturday) and were sat right away. The restaurant was cute and small, with only 5 tables. The food at tables around us looked delicious and we were excited to try it immediately after walking in. The menu is 17 pages (with pics!) and after some deliberation we ordered crispy rice with tuna, pork gyoza, the samurai roll, white lotus roll, fire tuna roll, and spicy salmon roll. The crispy rice and gyoza starters were tasty and fried to perfection. We kept the gyoza dipping sauce for our sushi. All of the rolls were delicious and we were surprised at how much fish and avocado were in each roll. My personal favorite was the white lotus and my boyfriend's was the samurai. The appetizers followed by sushi came out promptly after ordering. Our server was pleasant and made sure we never ran out of water. The interior has a calming, inviting aesthetic and they have so many menu items that sound great. We will definitely be back and will probably be doing a lot of takeout! read more

The only Sushark in the US is located in Tampa, FL. It is a small establishment with 5 tables, 2 of them being group tables. Everything ordered was fresh, savory, and well put together. This will definitely be a top spot in Tampa as it has just opened. I started with the flamed keto gunkan, tempura shrimp, and Truffle Crispy Rice. The salmon was flamed and surrounded a krab mix that was upscale. The tempura shrimp was fried nicely, with a spicy mayo tossed in. The green onions were essential. I was between the noodles and mongolian beef for dinner, and I'm so glad I chose the beef. Flavorful and paired with season rice. The Parmesan Role had flamed plantain on top, credited to the Latin/Japanese Fusion Restaurant. They do not take reservations online. I showed up around 6 and was sat within 15 minutes of waiting on a Saturday night. I expect this place to become much busier as more people find out about it. A clean and attractive restaurant on the inside. OVerall, 4.9/5! read more

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Placed two to go orders with the deadpan girl at the front. Told the wait would be 30 mins. Checked in after 20 mins and was told it would be 30 mins. I said wait, not thirty mins because it's already been 20. Deadpan girl checks my order on the kiosk and see's that it has indeed been 20 mins so she reply's that it will be ten mins. Come back after 20 more mins still nothing. The girl at the front gives no up date, no sorry for the wait no appologies for the delay. I request my funds back because it should never take this long! Waited a whole hour and no food or update. Then a pregnant lady that works there brought a nasty dog behind the counter. read more

I can't really pinpoint what, but Sushark in Tampa beats them all. The mix of flavors, which I was informed comes from a mix of Japanese and Latin-American (Panamanian specifically) cuisines is simply phenomenal. Try the Almond Crunch roll, The Parmesan roll, the Tropical roll and please, try the Sushi Pizza. Again, this is not a traditional sushi place. As I evolved, I realized I am not a "food purist": traditional food must keep evolving, otherwise we would still be eating berries like in the stone age. Do yourself a favor and try! read more

I am truly confused by all the great reviews because I've had better sushi from Publix. For the price I was expecting WAY more. The sushi was truly so bland and tasteless and the quality of the fish was not good. I honestly felt like I was just biting into globs of cream cheese wrapped in rice. My 12 year old granddaughter is a sushi aficionado and had seen this place on the way to her music lessons on MacDill. So we stopped in last week around 6 pm on a Wed but didn't know it was reservations only. There are only 4-5 tables but one was large enough to seat two parties on either end and the other party had no problem when the server asked them if we could sit there. I ordered the sunset salmon poke bowl, and my granddaughter had the almond crunch roll (also ordered one to take home for lunch the next day!) and a coconut lemonade drink and we shared edamame (total with tip was approx $75). It did take almost 45 minutes to get our food and I would say even though it's kind of a hole in the wall in a little strip mall the ambience is more south Tampa than you would have expected. This is my favorite sushi restaurant in the SOHO area by far. Each piece of your roll is individually garnished like you're in a 5-star Michelin style restaurant but for such an incredibly reasonable price. The serving size is also quite large, which makes this an especially unique gourmet sushi experience. It's quiet and intimate and cozy for those of us who can get overstimulated easily. The staff is really only a handful of very pleasant individuals who make the experience even better. It's a casual cozy yet classy professional vibe. Large rolls and comes packaged like you are eating in a restaurant, best sushi takeout experience in tampa by far. Outside of sushi, if you like a miso soup the gyo-sai gives that vibe with added gyoza and its incredible. Savage rice is also excellent. I'm shocked to see some of these bad reviews on here, maybe they had an off night? Everything I have had has been excellent. Only request to the restaurant: I frequently order many rolls and if you could label the boxes it would be so helpful! I find a new favorite every time but its hard to know exactly which is which. The packaging is so cool but the thing is the packaging shouldn't be the best thing about food. Nothing is inedible but the only thing I would call good was the Yaki Soba.
