Kiku remains my favorite sushi in Pittsburgh: the fish is exceptionally fresh, the rice texture is spot-on, and the presentation is consistently beautiful. That attention to detail extends beyond the food. Even the plates are carefully chosen for visual impact and complement the quiet, calming atmosphere, with Japanese decor and soft instrumental music. The servers have always been warm and friendly, and they're happy to recommend highlights from the menu. Even the warm towels brought out before the meal are a thoughtful touch. After coming here for so many years, Kiku is still a place I wholeheartedly recommend.

We shared three rolls - tuna avocado, salmon skin, and yellowfin tuna. All were good, particularly the yellowfin, which had nice soft fish. In general, the rolls were a bit heavier on the rice and lighter on the fish than I might have hoped, especially the salmon skin. Presentation was all very nice. My wife had the flan for dessert and gave it a thumbs up. Overall a good place, though I'm not sure we'd come back if we weren't otherwise going to Station Square.

Started with some oolong tea and edamame followed by three rolls which was way more than I could eat but I wanted the variety. The eel was tender and flavorful but the star was the first date roll which was covered in spicy tuna. The Philly roll was good but I probably didn't need it but sometimes you just want the taste. The juiciness from the pork was perfect and the nama panko they used made the true difference. It made it airy, held the juices more, and so flaky. Don't get that type of flavor with dried panko and you'll notice it IMMEDIATELY Japanese curry is also elite. If you haven't had it's not like Indian/Thai. It's more of a hearty gravy. It isn't spicy, doesn't use coconut milk, and has a sweeter taste to it I cannot recommend this enough and without a doubt will be going back. I'm addicted to the purple lemonade, the kale salad with this insanely good nutritional yeast dressing, the pineapple fried rice with tofu, and the sticky rice dessert with homemade coconut ice cream. For vegan week the coconut ice cream was dairy free. Everything is just so fresh and delicious, service is always kind and knowledgeable, and the interior and patio are both beautiful seating options.
