Really good sushi at a reasonable price for downtown. I went with the Bento combination number 2, which was a combination of California, spicy tuna, salmon, cucumber, and gyoza rolls. The spicy tuna was one of the best I have ever had. It had a great amount of flavor and heat to it. The others were pretty good as well, but the spicy tuna definitely stood out.

    Salmon Sushi, Udon, Sashimi Donburi

First timer here - I stumbled upon this sushi restaurant on my trip to downtown Pittsburgh. I usually don't leave Yelp reviews, but had to leave one here because the salmon sushi pictured here was absolutely fantastic - still reminiscing about the marbled fatty salmon melting in my mouth *drool*... My girlfriend ordered the sashimi donburi, which we could see that it was prepared with fresh ingredients (i.e. diced raw fish, crisp lettuce and leafy green vegetables, carrots and cucumbers) and we shared the udon, which was a great addition to warm up our bodies in the cold weather. The owners/workers were extremely friendly and helpful, which was a bonus! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a sushi fix

I don't profess to know a lot about sushi. I've only just recently gotten the nerve to try it and, to my surprise, I discovered that I really like it. I now see what all the fuss about raw fish, seaweed and rice is all about. Secretly I think it's that green horseradish stuff that you carefully dip your chopsticks into to give it that kick that I really like. I think that stuff would make even mushy boiled brussels sprouts taste good. But I digress... I tried Sushi Rolls in the lower level of the Oxford Center today. I think they've got a good thing going on down there. The sushi was relatively inexpensive, the location is great, and if you don't feel like eating in the restaurant itself there's plenty of seating in the courtyard right outside the place. The cardboard plates that the sushi is served on are sturdy and they look rather impressive with an elegant Japanese style design to them... economical and keeping the price down but an attention to detail that doesn't make them "look cheap". I had the spicy tuna roll today. I normally don't go for tuna but I liked the look of it. The gentleman behind the counter told me that it had Sriracha Sauce in it. Sriracha and that green horseradish stuff... for $7.99 how could I go wrong. It was delicious! I'm not sure how long my self-education with sushi will last but if I'm in the area again, I'd consider getting another roll from Sushi Rolls.

Downtown for jury duty and haven't been in town in a while. Looked at the reviews for this place and they are dead on!!! It's awesome. I got the Bento 2 Box. Very good. Tuna was nice and spicy!!! Only wish they had brown rice. If I have to come back down (which I'm hoping I don't) I will come here again. Great price, delish food!!!

CASH ONLY !!!! First this place is legit. Looks like a cozy mall restaurant in the Oxford Center Floor 'P'. First time I've ever had a spicy tuna roll that was actually spicy ! They have Bento boxes ready to go right in front and they have sushi that they make fresh as well. Great sushi & rolls at a decent price. A must try ;-)

Great lunch spot! Although the name is call sushi and rolls, but they have awesome Korean dishes. The stuff speaks Korean that makes me think it is pretty authentic. I had the kimchi spicy pork. It was delicious! Unlike a lot of other Asian stores the meal usually comes with a side of salad, it is extra here. It was quite spicy and the portion was huge, I was not able to finish. I can see myself be a regular there! One thing I would like them to change is to start taking cards. But I think there is an ATM in the dining area.

The Bento #1 meal (half eaten of course)

Good prices for dowtown sushi. Quality was decent and service was quick and friendly. I got the Bento #1 meal for $8.50 (if my memory serves my correctly). Very tasty but not particularly filling. Only held my hunger off for only a couple hours. To be fair though, I would have to eat a ridiculous amount of sushi to feel full from it. I will likely come back the next time I have a sushi craving at work.

This place is yummy! I come here at least once a week for the Sushi. The place is super clean and the service is good. Super quick! Sushi is always super fresh, salads are too.

Bento box #1. Sushi, teriaki chicken & 2 dumplings.. about $9 after tax

I've ventured here before for the teriyaki chicken as well as the pork dumplings. Yesterday, I couldnt decide if I wanted to hit my usual Chinese spot for general tsos or head somewhere new for sushi. My friend at work brought up the bento box here at Sushi & Rolls & I decided to try it. You choose your box of sushi and then they make whatever comes with that certain box. I ordered the bento box #1 which came with teriyaki chicken, white rice & 2 dumplings (& the sushi of course) The sushi quality was good and everyone working was extremely friendly. I'll head back soon.

I've been generally impressed by the quality of the sushi. We ordered takeout this time, and everything was extremely well packaged and presented. In terms of the food, we focussed on fairly standard maki rolls: a spicy salmon roll and a spicy California roll. Both were very nicely done. We also tried the veg farm roll, and that was a nice vegetable forward option. Not life changing, but nicely done. We also opted for a vegetable poke bowl, and that was also good. Basically the same combination of vegetables as the veg farm roll, but in a bowl format. The bowl was good, but it was lacking some sort of sauce or glaze that might have pulled things together. It was easy enough to toss on some condiments of our own, but the bowl could have been better. Overall, I this is my favorite sushi destination in Squirrel Hill. It's very clear that the owners are invested in turning out a high quality experience, and that's exactly the type of business I like to support.

Their selection of appetizers were great, and the quality of each was stellar. We attempted to try quite a few of them, and still have many we want to try. In our group, the tofu with an amazing dashi broth, the crab puffs, "sexy jalepenos", tempura kani, and the gyoza were the standouts. As I stated, though...everything we had was awesome. We all ordered a different ramen, and then shared. They were all phenomenal. The steak teriyaki was also great. Sushi wise, we didn't get to try as many as we had hoped. We were too busy reordering the appetizers. We did try the Crazy Mango roll, and ended up reordering that because it was so good. My kids were with me, and they love all things Mango, and this was phenomenal. For dessert, we had a few orders (and reorders!) of the fried bananas. Overall, I cannot speak higher of our experience. It is very clean, well kept up on, and the service was phenomenal. Quality wise, you can tell how much effort they put into the place purely on their presentation. I had to remark many times about how utterly beautiful some of their dishes were. This was not like our other AYCE experiences where they just rush food out to you. They actually put effort into their craft here, and it is quite obvious. We will definitely be back, and look forward to trying new things that we didn't get to before!

My usual order is the chicken katsu bento box, which comes with a good portion of crunchy sliced chicken katsu, rice, two dumplings, a California roll, and miso soup. It feels like a solid, filling meal with enough variety to make it satisfying. The only downside with my most recent takeout order was the sauce placed in the middle of the container. I'm not sure exactly what it was, and after tasting it, it wasn't really for me. Because of the layout of the takeout container, some of it spilled into the rice and rolls. Next time, I'd probably ask for that sauce on the side in a separate container.

SO GOOD. Prices are steep but expected for location and quality of food…read more We went for my husband's birthday and sat at the bar downstairs, overlooking the gorgeous view of the city. It was shockingly not busy until about 630pm and they open at 4. There is no valet, just street parking. They provided complimentary edamame which had a great little spicy kick. I ordered the sour, the yuzu gave it a nice fresh citrus taste. My husband had a scotch and Coke. We decided to order the experience which began with a tartar (salmon, tuna and yellowtail on a bed of tuna). Amazing. We then had a two piece sashimi with jalapeño and crispy potato in a sauce that was similar to Italian dressing. This was our favorite of the entire night. Next was a shrimp tasting. It had shaved cucumber and seaweed in a light brown sauce, perhaps a mirin. It was okay, like a cold miso. We then had a dish I had only seen videos of called Chawanmushi. It was like an eggy flan served hot. My husband was not a fan but I was. Then was the first nigiri which the bartender was kind enough to split for us. It included 4 light pieces of sushi. After that there was a cold infused tomato palate cleanser and the second nigiri with "darker" fish. It was all delicious. After that was a fatty tuna hand roll (like a sushi taco) which was amazing as well. And last for the savory items, a soft shell crab which was very, very good. The yellow sauce tasted like the yellow of a potato salad with tastes that mimicked mayo, mustard and pickles. We ordered another round of drinks and I had a dirty martini which they called The New 32. The last item is the red bean dessert but we opted to order more food and had the Treasure Box ($78) which had 9 different sashimis. There were a few repeats from the experience portion but we were happy to have the first sashimi item again. And last, we had the red bean dessert as well as a complimentary tiramisu dessert for the husband's birthday. The bill was just over $300 which was expected for the location, amount of food and overall quality and experience.

The restaurant is located right on Mt Washington, giving a good view of the city. The interior looks appropriate for a sushi restaurant, but due to the massive windows lacked the darker vibe of other upscale restaurants. I've been to hundreds of sushi spots and the interior was merely average. Otaru seems to struggle with its identity. It needs to either commit to being an upscale restaurant or relax and simply be a quality one. The wait staff were kind and prompt, but at times appeared they may be less experienced. We were brought hot (paper) towels and edamame. We ordered the fried tako balls as an app. I personally don't prefer tako and found it very dense and chewy and the overall flavors were too undeveloped. The hand rolls were well filled and were easy to eat due to being more of a taco configuration than a true hand roll. The nori was not too tough, lending to a pleasant experience. The nigiri and sashimi were also good. The nigiri were good, but not as elevated as another upscale sushi spot in the city. They were still very good, but not quite excellent. They either need a bit more development or to be relaxed and served as two per order and the price adjusted slightly upward. If you take one thing from this review, let it be this. The yellowtail jalepeno cups were astonishing. By far this was the most well executed dish I have ever eaten and the best sushi dish I've had. They appear to be wrapped in toasted sesame seed wrappers. If you've had Hapi mixed crackers they give the same great flavor of the "fried chicken" pieces but with yuzu vinaigrette and the umami of the fish. I will certainly be back solely because of how good they were.
