seared peppered tuna
Jeremy G.

I know what you're thinking because I was thinkin the same thing: Asian and Tapas don't go together. As a matter of fact, that almost stopped me from going. Fortunately, Yelp reviews convinced me to give it a shot. I went for a late dinner and wasn't sure I had the right place, as the sign was hard to see and it looked more like a dive bar than a good Asian place. I sat at the bar and had a friendly and helpful bartender. I asked him what his favorites were, and went with his suggestion by ordering the seared peppered tuna and chicken wings. I opted for a heat level of 3/5. The seared peppered tuna was excellent. It was served on a bed of mixed greens with a balsamic-style sauce. The greens are one of those confusing parts of a dish where I ask myself "is this a garnish? Do I eat this?". The sauce was so good, I didn't care what it was and devoured the whole plate. The wings were also good: a slightly dry chicken was more than madeup for by the sauce which had the right amount of heat with a hintness of sweet behind it. I'm still pretty sure that Asian Tapas isn't a thing, but after eating here, I'm also pretty sure I don't care. Great spot.

I cannot speak highly enough about this place in every aspect. The food is a 10 out of 10 the service is a 10 out of 10 the atmosphere is a 10 out of 10. The amazing bartender/waiter was beyond welcoming and his service was on point. The regulars who sat around me, were very welcoming and explained to me about all the fantastic food there, which made picking dishes on the menu easy. At this point, I've tried quite a few things and not one of them could I find a flaw.

Avocado bomb with spicy tuna is the bomb!

We stopped in this small town for dinner during our road trip. Ambience - 3/5. It's more of a bar which offers unexpectedly good mix of Asian food. Service - 5/5. Not only they were friendly but also extremely kind. After the end of our meal, we asked if they could make a special chicken stir fry with no seasoning for our puppy and they made it for us without any hesitation. Our puppy who refused to eat her kibble all day finally stuffed herself. We can't thank you enough!! Food - 3/5. Expect your local teriyaki house level food. My mi goreng didn't taste anything like mi goreng I'm used to, but it was a good Japanese yakisoba. It reminded me of an old Japanese restaurant in used to go with my late grandma. Their chicken stir fry was pretty good too. If you require a lot of protein though, we'd recommend you to double the meat. Avocado bomb reminded me of my college year. It's a yummy spicy tuna stuffed avocado tempura. If this restaurant was in a bigger town or city, I'd probably rate it 2.5/3, but it's a 4 star filled with nice staff in this small town. Overall, we'd come back here if we ever pass this little town again. :)

How'd I end up here... A big part of my work requires a lot of travel and on this particular night, we were on our way up from Eureka California to Eugene Oregon. Its dinner time and we were not gonna settle for another fast food drive through, hell nah. So we took to Yelping. First thing you'll notice when you get into Grants Pass is that for dinner, you better look to eat before 8pm because your options start getting thin after that. Good news is Taroko is there and they're open till Midnight! What did we eat? - Crab Cheese Puffs 4/5 stars - gyozas 4/5 stars - Beef Stir Fry 5/5 stars - Opur Curry 5/5 stars This place, the Chef, the service, all go above and beyond. Portions are exactly what you want and expect for the price. Flavors and execution of the dishes we ordered were perfect. Crab puffs, man these were slammin. I can only think of crab cheese rangoons that I had in Seattle's Pike Place Market that are comparable. Beef was nice and tender not chewy and the broccoli which accompanied were fresh and cooked perfectly. The curry I will not even attempt to describe. It's unfortunate that I will only be able to enjoy this curry when I'm in Grants Pass because when I crave curry, I will always think of the Opur Curry I had here. Taroko and the staff, thank you and I'll def be dining whenever I'm in town

Cool bar with quite a few veggie options. I really enjoyed my curry. Take out was simple and they are open fairly late.

Everything here was great! From ambience to friendly staff, full bar, and a menu unlike anything else in town.

Food, fish was old and dried out. Nice server, not qualified and I NEVER got my bill. Had to estimate. Gotta wait to try raw fish again

The firecrackers (fried stuffed jalapeños) were flavorful, well cooked, and lightly crisp. The crispy jalapeño roll was delicious and even my husband who doesn't do raw fish ate it up. The ceviche roll was a creative fusion surprise, it was very fresh and flavorful. We also had their fusion fish taco, which was a flat panko breaded fish tender that was served on a fresh corn tortilla with guac and a surprisingly delicious chipotle sauce. We also enjoyed the drinks, a refreshing sprite/tequila/lime juice combo served in an olla, a touch we really enjoyed. This Mexican/japanese fusion place came highly recommended by many people and I can see why! The service was absolutely impeccable despite the place being packed. The whole crew was friendly and efficient. We'll be back!

It's like having the Korean Chirashi "protein style". It's absolutely fresh, flavorful, well balance with pickled veggies and raw spiraled diakon and beet. They make their own spicy house sauce that would be good on everything. It has a tang, but I wouldn't call it "spicy". If you want a big, fresh, sashimi mixed salad with steamed rice and a bowl of miso soup... order the Korean Chirashi for $25. It hits all the taste buds. I always have leftovers, it's very filling but does not feel at all heavy :D NOTE: This is one place that takes the same level of care with TO GO Orders as they do for sit-down. That is a rarity nowadays. 5-stars!

Well, it's definitely not Sauce anymore which is sad tbh…read more Other than the dumb new name, the menu is very similar but different. No more kale chips (the best ever btw!), way less sauces to choose from, the fridges are all empty, the sautéed cabbage sucks when it used to have flavor and was cooked well and now is basically raw, I could go on. Btw you're supposed to remove the stems on kale, not serve it to customers w stems! They removed all the lamps and fun wall paint in the bathrooms and looks like a generic boring cold bright light white walls bathroom. ***The chicken is much, much better tho so I'll give them that. I wont be surprised if soon they repaint the walls white too and take down all the wood. It has a very medford conservative energy now with people pretending to be hippies wearing ponchos they just bought etc. So that's awkward. Definitely waaaay different energy.. not inna good way. I appreciate what they offer food wise though with veggies and dairy free desserts so I will definitely return. The music SUCKS now. Sauce used to be such a cool vibe with indie music and even classical and jazz etc. Now it is top 40's pop and country-pop. Just god awful. The drama that came from this revision is very interesting also... something like the owners husband and wife, husband cheated on wife with the now new co-owner who is supposedly also married and the ex-wife has chronic illness and was basically blindsided and then bought out. It's all really messy and gives a bad energy. Probably why it is empty every time we've been since the change... Sauce used to always be packed.. we also would always buy the frozen soups and salads etc in addition to our meals ordered but now spend less bc nothing in fridges to buy! Anyway, I hope they stay open for the food bc not much else like it in the valley but hOm, please don't forget the loyal following of Sauce and completely obliterate its energy. Please dont paint everything white and black. We need color and creativity and community. Not cold pretend hippie energy. Sauce was packed constantly for a reason... don't lose sight of why and why you're always empty now facing closure...
