    Crunchy Salmon
    Alexa S.

This is an excellent place for a quick lunch in Oakland! Pictured is the crunchy salmon roll which contains salmon, avocado, cucumber, and crunchy onions. I also always get a side of sweet chili for dipping! I've tried many items from here and always enjoy the flavor and freshness. Prices are also on the affordable side, so definitely a solid option to grab some sushi in the area!

Pretty OK sushi spot. Used to be another sushi place but I think either they just renamed or sold it. This new place isn't anything too special, but it's still decent. I like that they have a make your own bowl option, as well as many of the classic sushi rolls. I tried their build your own bowl with tempura shrimp, carrots, sushi rice, sweet corn, and yum yum sauce. I expected there to be a bit more protein than there actually was. Only about 4 small sized pieces of tempura. The rice itself was fine, and portion was decent as well. Vegetables tasted a little unfresh, with the corn likely being canned. The yum yum sauce was quite good though, creamy and sweet. Predominantly rice based dish. All in all, it's alright spot. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, and there are definitely better places in the area, but it's not bad.

Food was good and the portion size was good. They had a variety of foods to choose from like bentos, sushi, etc. The workers were nice and the place was overall nice!!

My "BYO Pok Bowl" - salmon poké -- all mixed up (sorry - it's really pretty when u 1st get it, but I was starving!)

Got delivery from Atarashi for the 1st time last night. It was good. The salmon poké bowl was/ sushi rice & added cucumber, avocado, edamame, seaweed salad, & sesame seeds was huge - and flavorful, though there was **so** much rice, I had leftovers. You choose a sauce, which was new for me with poké. I chose both spicy mayo (it wasn't really that spicy at all) & "poké sauce" which appeared to be soy based. The combo was perfect for the bowl. The price wasn't too bad, either - $15.12 w/ the add ons. I also ordered an extra seaweed salad for later. I had a small taste, and the flavor was nice tho a little dry. I'll definitely reorder from this place again! Solid dinner!

I get this delivered sometimes and it's great sushi! Really good deal, really fresh, and they do buy one get one free on Uber Eats sometimes. I love the topping options for any rolls and it's free! I like to add green onions, crunchy onions, sesame seeds, etc. The sauces are free too which is so nice because a lot of sushi places charge extra for yum yum sauce or spicy mayo Definitely try this place out! The packaging is also really cute and I like how neatly they separate the rolls, just a great sushi place that handles food with TLC

I had been craving some sushi for lunch and was between a couple of options in the Oakland area, when I settled for Atarashi (formerly known as Sushi Fuku). If I was reviewing solely on the experience, I would probably lean toward 4 or 5 stars. The ordering process via their online website was super easy and I signed up for an account because I assumed I'd be a repeat customer. The account keeps track of your points with each visit. Example rewards include $3.50 off on sides for 750 points and up to $15 off on rolls for 1500 points. With a single visit, I earned 400 points. I work just down the street, and by the time I arrived after the 3 minute walk, my order was just wrapping up, making it a super quick and convenient lunch choice. I ordered a Rainbow Roll, which came with 10 pieces. Unfortunately, I wasn't too happy. I didn't read the description too closely because I've had rainbow rolls at other restaurants and it's always been the same, but Atarashi makes their roll differently. The menu description says "Ahi tuna and Atlantic salmon layered with 3 pieces of fresh ebi shrimp and rolled together with avocado and cucumber." I learned that this is actually how the original sushi roll (Maki) is made. But, if you Google "rainbow roll," you'll typically find a California roll made with rice on the outside and then assorted fish and avocado place on top, which is the Americanized version. With those expectations, I just wasn't a fan. Additionally, the tuna pieces were a bit icy, as if they were not cut fresh, but actually precut and stored frozen, and hadn't fully defrosted before being used for the day. Overall, the convenience of having quick sushi rolls for takeout did not make up for the quality of the roll during this experience.

First time trying Ordered online - which was easy and pick up was ready on time. Was impressed by how clean the store was-and they the team was clean even when it did not look like it was needed. We got the spicy California roll and Hawaii bowl -- ordered some yum yum sauce in the side ( which does cost extra) -- I don't understand why they were only filled half way though - that was my only disappointment. Thoth tasted fresh and delicious- will try again another time ... south hills location opened so that would be easier :) Enjoy!

While I ordered on DoorDash so I can't speak to the physical location, the food was amazing! I was surprised at how big the poke bowl was for its price. It was a great price, and all tasted so fresh! I loved that they had lots of different options to build your own bowl and rolls as well, I can't wait to try more of their menu!

If McDonald's quality sushi is like sushi from a gas station or a grocery store would be a 1, and authentic sushi is sushi on the other side of the scale would be a 10, than this place, previously Sushi Fuku, would be a 4. It's very middle of the road, fast food type sushi, but the price for quality does satisfy my massive sushi cravings. It's not authentic, but boi, it's still delicious. I am a hedonist. I love fried sushi, I love sushi that has that sweet bbq eel in it, I love dragon rolls, I love the spicy Mayo and the rainbow rolls with the beautiful fish. I love it raw, I love it cooked. This is a place where the sushi timid would be able to reasonably try out different types of sushi rolls for much cheaper than one could if they were at a less kitschy, more authentic restaurant. All I am trying to say is that for the price, if you're ordering a bunch of fun, variety filled rolls for people who do AND are timid about sushi, this is a great place to order from.

I am LOVING how i never have to leave the house, or get dressed up to go out to eat anymore. You can get everthing delivered, even the whole way across town. Matt wanted sushi something fierce from our normal place, but they were closed on Tuesday, so we found Sushi Fuku! They had fast delivery, and lots of options. We ordered the Rainbow Roll, Hamachi Roll, some tempura and Gyoza, HOLY CATS, the rolls are HUGE! They are very well put together and super tasty. Their Gyoza is pan fried, and is probably the best I've had in a long time. The order came with plenty of soy, wasabi where requested (thats awesome for me, because i can't deal with wasabi. And nobody likes food waste.) You could add lots of toppings and sauces to your sushi; want tempura flakes?Boom. Fried Onions? They got em. YumYum Sauce on all the things? Your wish is their command. The sushi came super fresh, not soggy and weird. The Gyoza and Shrimp Tempura were still crunchy and awesome, even though they were driven almost 20 minutes after their departure from the restaurant. High fives to Sushi Fuku for great delivery and awesome food. Don't forget, restaurants still need your help! Order delivery direct from the restaurant, or through Yelp. And don't forget to tip your driver! Happy Eating!

This is a great place but the vegetarian options are pretty limited. Before I was vegetarian I enjoyed this place much more. The only premade veg option are single ingredient rolls or the ultimate zen bowl, which is ok, though a bit spicy for me. I prefer sweet sauces to spicy ones. For meat eaters, the Ying Yang roll is one of my favorite sushi rolls on earth, so definitely give that a try! Pro tip: always ask for sauce on the side, they always put way to much

I stopped in here for the first time in years after a meeting in Oakland. It is no longer called Sushi Fuku...now it is Atarashi. The workers were SO friendly and the restaurant was super clean. I like that you can make your own roll/bowl or pick the premade ones. I was in a hurry so I just picked pre-made options. I got a volcano bowl with spicy mayo on the side, and an electric eel roll. There was so much food! I ate the roll for lunch and the bowl for lunch the next day. I didn't anticipate the roll to be so huge and filling! The electric eel was a good choice - salty and sweet from the teriyaki sauce. The bowl was good and I liked the spicy crab the best. It is definitely "fast food" and the fish isn't anything special, but it is consistently tasty and the service is great! I would get the roll again for lunch.

100% yes! This place is great!! Not only is the food delicious, but you can make your own! They have make your own sushi rolls, sushi burritos, and bowls! How cool is that!? It's also sooo reasonably priced! OBSESSED with this place!

All I can say about my recent visit is WOW! We were so very impressed by this AYCE experience…read more When comparing it to other AYCE Sushi type places my family frequents, this has become our favorite. Their selection of appetizers were great, and the quality of each was stellar. We attempted to try quite a few of them, and still have many we want to try. In our group, the tofu with an amazing dashi broth, the crab puffs, "sexy jalepenos", tempura kani, and the gyoza were the standouts. As I stated, though...everything we had was awesome. We all ordered a different ramen, and then shared. They were all phenomenal. The steak teriyaki was also great. Sushi wise, we didn't get to try as many as we had hoped. We were too busy reordering the appetizers. We did try the Crazy Mango roll, and ended up reordering that because it was so good. My kids were with me, and they love all things Mango, and this was phenomenal. For dessert, we had a few orders (and reorders!) of the fried bananas. Overall, I cannot speak higher of our experience. It is very clean, well kept up on, and the service was phenomenal. Quality wise, you can tell how much effort they put into the place purely on their presentation. I had to remark many times about how utterly beautiful some of their dishes were. This was not like our other AYCE experiences where they just rush food out to you. They actually put effort into their craft here, and it is quite obvious. We will definitely be back, and look forward to trying new things that we didn't get to before!

My usual order is the chicken katsu bento box, which comes with a good portion of crunchy sliced chicken katsu, rice, two dumplings, a California roll, and miso soup. It feels like a solid, filling meal with enough variety to make it satisfying. The only downside with my most recent takeout order was the sauce placed in the middle of the container. I'm not sure exactly what it was, and after tasting it, it wasn't really for me. Because of the layout of the takeout container, some of it spilled into the rice and rolls. Next time, I'd probably ask for that sauce on the side in a separate container.

It honestly raised the bar for sushi in Pittsburgh and feels like the kind of restaurant you'd expect to find in a much bigger city. Everything I've tried has been incredibly fresh and beautifully prepared. Yes, it's a splurge, but it's absolutely worth it for the quality. The restaurant is located right on Mt Washington, giving a good view of the city. The interior looks appropriate for a sushi restaurant, but due to the massive windows lacked the darker vibe of other upscale restaurants. I've been to hundreds of sushi spots and the interior was merely average. Otaru seems to struggle with its identity. It needs to either commit to being an upscale restaurant or relax and simply be a quality one. The wait staff were kind and prompt, but at times appeared they may be less experienced. We were brought hot (paper) towels and edamame. We ordered the fried tako balls as an app. I personally don't prefer tako and found it very dense and chewy and the overall flavors were too undeveloped. The hand rolls were well filled and were easy to eat due to being more of a taco configuration than a true hand roll. The nori was not too tough, lending to a pleasant experience. The nigiri and sashimi were also good. The nigiri were good, but not as elevated as another upscale sushi spot in the city. They were still very good, but not quite excellent. They either need a bit more development or to be relaxed and served as two per order and the price adjusted slightly upward. If you take one thing from this review, let it be this. The yellowtail jalepeno cups were astonishing. By far this was the most well executed dish I have ever eaten and the best sushi dish I've had. They appear to be wrapped in toasted sesame seed wrappers. If you've had Hapi mixed crackers they give the same great flavor of the "fried chicken" pieces but with yuzu vinaigrette and the umami of the fish. I will certainly be back solely because of how good they were.
