Our waitress, Yuki, was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. She provided excellent service and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. The food was delicious, and we will definitely be back. The restaurant itself was nice and clean overall. The only areas that could use some improvement were the bathrooms, and the trash cans could be emptied more frequently. We were visiting COS and my kids wanted sushi. I know, I know. You're thinking, "They wanted sushi in a city that sits near enough in the center of a land locked state that is itself in the middle of a drought? Who are these kids!?" Well, that's par for the course with my family. They'd beg me to take them to Mars and upon arrival demand we go to the beach. Well, obviously I couldn't deliver on the latter, but I could deliver on the former. Even though you could make a legitimate argument that my decision contributed to the very drought situation this state is in. Anyways to the review. We ordered dinner from Sushi Ato. We chose this restaurant because 1. It was close to where we were staying and 2. it had more than the minimum number of stars to reassure me that the sushi is fresh. Our order consisted of two Philadelphia rolls, two Caterpillar rolls, an Alaskan Snow roll. We also got a Spicy Chicken Miso Ramen and the Seared Cajun Tuna. Unfortunately, we ordered takeout so I can't comment on the service. However, I did go inside and the restaurant nice. I'm thinking great for a date. It was spacious, nice afternoon sun, lots of windows, quiet. Certainly nicer than a box sit down restaurant. What I lack in dining knowledge about Sushi Ato I can make up for in food quality, quantity, and cost. First, food quality seemed good to me. All of the sushi looked, smelled and, tasted fresh. All of the rolls were a standard size with six to eight pieces. Our rolls by themselves fed one and a half adult females, one newly minted teenager, and a four year old. As for the prices, to me they were what I expected, about $13 to $15 per roll. As for the non-sushi items, the Seared Cajun Tuna was delicious. Cooked well, with a nice pink on the inside and well spiced on the outside. IMO the Cajun spices were more flavorful than spicy (hot). The only bad part, as is the case with most takeout, was that it was not overly pleasing to the eyes sitting in its takeout container. Lastly, the Spicy Chicken Miso Raman was tasty and not overly spicy. Furthermore, when we opened the container there was a ton of food. I bet two adults could make a good dinner out of this bowl, maybe with an appetizer or two. However, our bowl fed the other half of the adult female and our second newly minted teenager. But that's saying something! Teenagers are good at bringing their A game to a table and this one is no different. But, the bowl held its own and she walked away satisfied. Overall, I recommend Sushi Ato. Is it going to knock your sox off, maybe or maybe not. But, if you're jonesing for some sushi or a nice ramen bowl and you happen to be in Colorado Springs, on the north east side of the city you're in luck! Because that's right where it is! read more

Ive been here so many times but man its changed. We got here tonight at about 7:30 pm. The hostess didnt bother greeting us she just stared at me until I asked if we could be seated. Maybe it was her first day, idk but she clearly had no training and no charisma/personality. We were seated, the chairs were split apart and the walls had scratches and huge gashes all over them, the place is beginning to show its age. But its all good! Some of the best little shitty hole in the wall places have the best food, unfortunately that wasnt the case here. We sat down and after about 10 minutes out waitress finally came up and greeted us, she wasnt horrible, just seemed to be in a rush to get out of there.. anyway, the service was shit, it took about an hour to get our food. It was brought out in waves and she took very long for everything, refills, forks for the kids, hot sauce etc. I wasnt planning on leaving much of a tip but low and behold I was charged a 20% gratuity because I have 3 kids and a baby, all under 10 yrs old. The food wasnt bad but the service was horrible. Ive been coming here for years but it looks like Im going to give them a wide birth. My favorite sushi place in Colorado Springs, and it really comes down to how great the Chirashi Don is. Not only is this dish gorgeous it offers so much fish you will be stuffed. Having so many different sashimis to try is great and while some aren't my favorites, I love the experience of the variety. The one piece of unagi is my favorite part of the dish. The biggest issue with the dish is trying to reach the rice because everything else is piled on top. The rice is great as they season it and it makes it so good. The dish has gone up in price recently as it is $39 when we went but I still think it is a great dish. We additionally got the Hamachi and Unagi roll and that was a stellar roll that is a great combination that I definitely recommend if you like both hamachi and unagi. I hosted a small group for dinner in Co Springs and instead of our typical steak house an few in the group chose sushi for the evening. The local person said this was the best in town. I was very pleased with the service and quality of the food. It wasn't the best sushi I have ever had, but it was certainly good quality fish and the rolls were well made. that said, I have traveled to Japan over a dozen times, and have always lived near the ocean, so my standards may be higher than the average bear. I got the Unagi Don and enjoyed it. It had a lot of toppings I wasn't expected which was a nice treat, but it overwhelmed the unagi just a bit. For the group we ordered a mix of sashimi, sushi, and rolls: - apps: Edamame, Heart attack - sashimi: Super white tune, Tuna, Yellowtail - sushi: Hirame, Toro, Unagi - rolls: Air Force, Everest, Calif Roll - entrees: 2x Unagi Don, Beef Yakinku Bento My only complaint is that the certainly overstated what we would need for the group. Having never been there before we didn't know the size of the rolls (some places make them large, some are smaller), so we relied on the input from the wait staff on how much to get. Maybe they are used to feeding hungry young men from the Air Force Academy, but the certainly over sold us on how much to get. Thus we had plenty left over - not always a good thing with sushi. Not sure what happened to this place. I used to love it, but the last two times I've been there have been pretty terrible. The California mix was so dry and had such a strange sandy texture with absolutely no flavor. Fish pieces are still large, which I appreciate but anything that touched the California crab mix was ruined. We also had a Colorado roll and the spicy tuna was such a strange brown color. No flavor or spice at all. And the tempura shrimp that accompanied it was soggy and overcooked. To top it off (literally), the tempura flakes were over processed which left them soggy and sawdusty rather than crispy. So disappointed as the used to be our go to place. The whole meal was also fishy, which always makes me question freshness. With so many great new spots now, I think Ato will have to step up their game. Yummy, quick service and quiet environment Complementry miso soup prior to the meal was also great. We got the smooth heat roll, California roll and spicy ramen bowl. Smooth heat: loved the tempura within the roll because it added a crunch and the teriyaki-like sauce on top added good flavor. The salmon was nice and thick and of very high quality. Ok, my bad for going out on a Friday night, because the place was PACKED and the servers were trying to do their best. While we were seated promptly, and served miso soup and drinks quickly, the actual order did take a while to come out. Albeit when it did, everything looked and tasted great. The rolls were fresh, flavorful, and loaded. The only con is that I did not confirm how many rolls were deep fried vs raw (also not sure if that paper menu actually stated that). If anyone knows, please enlighten me. While the big plate was hard to finish, I was more than happy to get leftovers to go. A good ambience and happening environment completed this trip. This is my favorite Sushi restaurant in Colorado Springs. The large open dining area has spectacular views of the Rockies and the wait staff are always attentive. There are always specials, including special Saki and today there was a Maki special alongside Shumai. Sushi Rolls and others. The miso soup was comforting on a cold December day and the Sashimi was beautifully presented. The Sashimi pieces were generously sized and filling. The sunset roll, a special, was spectacular, the Jalapeño gave it a kick, and the gold topping made it look spectacular. The Tempura shrimp at each end added a nice twist. Fortunately for myself, they made other food besides sushi. The sushi lovers in the group ordered the following: Air Force Roll Avalanche Roll Rainbow Roll Rockstar Roll Philadelphia Roll Ankimo (Monkfish Liver) with Ponzu Sauce All the rolls were presented on one plate, and they looked great. According to everyone, the sushi tasted really good too. Chicken Curry Katsu was my order. It also presented well. It tasted alright, but it needed more gravy in my opinion. Although this is written by myself a non-sushi fan, I highly recommend patronizing Sushi Ato if you are a fan of sushi. My wife and friends are, and they really like the place. We were looking for good Japanese food on a trip to Colorado Springs and Yelp led us here. It's a fairly large, casual restaurant with lots of parking. They have a big menu, including a full sushi menu. Although the food is Japanese, the food and drinks have a Korean influence. The plates and bentos come with miso soup and a salad with Korean dressing. The spicy sashimi bowl is like bibimbap. The food is really good and the portions are large. I am a big fan of soju, and they had so many flavors that it was hard to pick just one! I chose the mango, and it was so amazing. It's so sweet that you can't taste the alcohol at all. One bottle is enough to share with another person because the alcohol content is a lot. All our meals came with miso soup, it was so good. It was not too hot, and I loved the tofu pieces. I got the yakisoba ramen because the beef sounded good. It's a lot of food and I couldn't finish it but it was packed with flavor. I tried the sushi my boyfriend picked out and they were all very good! It didn't taste like they used imitation crab. We came here after spending some time at Top Golf nearby! Someone in our group is vegetarian and wanted a place with lots of fish options. They have a huge selection on their menu consisting of sushi, plates, ramen, noodles, and rice dishes. Some people in our group got sushi and really liked what they got. I went with the Tonkotsu Ramen! You can upgrade to more spicy for an extra dollar which I did not do this time. The serving size is large, I had plenty for leftovers. The broth is creamy and flavorful but not too salty. The eggs and pork belly were cooked well. Not much bok choy but there were lots of bamboo shoots. The food came out relatively quickly and service was adequate, not too friendly but they did come by several times to refill our drinks. This place gets busy. We waited 25 mins to be seated which wasn't too bad considering how busy it was (Friday night around 6 pm). We had the crab rangoons, bomb roll, and 12 piece nigiri combo. We also ordered the fried tempura ice cream. Everything was good but not great. The prices were a bit on the steep end for the ambiance. Our crab rangoons were forgotten about, but we just reminded our server, and she swiftly got the order in and out to us. Well, we didn't expect the amazing, beautifully plated Christmas sushi we had, and boy were we surprised and delighted. The wine and soju were great, and we had fun exploring the menu. It was fun going through the menu. They have so much items to choose from. They have good space and service. I always love Tuna Tataki. It is my go to item for places that actually have it. This time there was a twist to the dish: Mango Salsa. This dish is an appetizer. It's meant to entice the palate, but will require a more filling dish to satisfy a hungry person. So I ordered the Albacore Nigiri. It did not disappoint. Love the attention to detail. The Dragon roll was amazing. The plating is so beautiful. I also love the combination of tempura, unagi, crab and tobiko within the roll. The Chirashi bowl was another great option. My hubby enjoyed his dish and was having a hard time finishing the dish. Meh. Unfortunately I have often had extremely fresh sushi in Hawaii and living in the coasts. This was not extremely fresh but it was edible. It was a little fishy but my stomach was fine. It just wasn't very yummy. With the amazing reviews and a 25 min wait time at 6pm on a Saturday night I was hopeful. However the sushi was not rolled tightly and kept falling apart, I couldn't taste the salmon in any of the rolls just a little fishy flavor. My friend and I were disappointed. I think go with the basics here not the overpriced fancy ones- not worth it and maybe that would be worth it if the rolls stay together and maybe not so much going on? I do have to say our favorite thing was a sparkling peach sake- we shared a small bottle and it was lovely for a girls night. Also I heard service was not very good here but our waitress was friendly, attentive and kept letting us know she was checking on our food and that it would be coming because of the wait. We waited maybe 30 min for our food but the place was busy so we weren't concerned. Hope to find good sushi somewhere in CO but haven't been impressed yet. read more

After another 10 minutes, my server stopped by to tell me (again) my food would arrive shortly. That's when I decided to leave. On the way out, the manager told me the server forgot to ring in my order. Might have been nice to know that, although my server acted as if it was business as usual.
