I used to come here for years! And a lot has changed over time. Maybe my tastebuds have gotten better or maybe the food is just not as great quality. I honestly think the quality of food is sub par and the prices are completely over priced. I ordered the Lunch/ Dinner Box Special with 3 Choices ($13+) . My choices were Salmon Teriyaki, Katsu Chicken and Tuna Rolls (6 pc.) . Each box comes with Miso soup, Salad and some Side Fruit. When my box came, I was literally so disappointed. Everything looked so sad and small. The salmon should've been called a Half Salmon Sliver Filet with Teriyaki Sauce. And the Chicken Katsu was literally all the crunchy batter and barely any chicken. We were sitting in the child section and my husband wanted to put teen titans on the TV for our son and the server had no idea how to work the tv or control. He asked her nicely to see the control since he knows how to use it and she completely ignored him and said it's not working . The funniest thing is that he got it working right after she left . The only thing I really look forward too here is the Deep Fried Green Tea ice cream. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Yesterday I placed an order worth $100 for Christmas dinner because I work night shift at the hospital and just didn't feel like cooking tonight. What we received was SO EMBARRASSING I honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I opened up the containers. I tried to stay positive and moved the sushi from the containers to a platter to make them look more presentable but they were all cold to the touch. My husband and I took one bite of a different roll each and they were SO fishy. The mangos on the top of my one roll were brown and the same with the avocado. I'm positive they made my rolls hours ahead of time and just let them sit on a table until I got there to pick them up. I called the restaurant to let them know that what we got was just not acceptable and they offered me a $10 gift card for my troubles. $100 worth of terrible sushi and here, you can have a $10 gift card. What an absolute joke. I am pissed and will NEVER order from here again. All the sushi ended up in the trash exactly where they belong. read more

Came here with my sisters on Black Friday. There were many choices on the menu although the menu was low quality. The items on the bottom of the pages were cut off and you couldn't read what they were. I loved all the pictures though. We ordered four rolls and one order of ramen. One persons sushi came about ten minutes before the rest. Then my sister waited about ten minutes after I got my sushi and we found out they forgot to add her ramen to the order. They were very apologetic but still... We came here to eat together... Not one at a time. The food was good and they gave us free edamame and ice cream. The interior looked clean and the staff was friendly but still it would had been nice to get our order right and get our food around the same time. read more

First off, they did not even give us plates. We had to ask for wasabi and the amount they gave us was smaller than a coin. The sushi was not fresh at all. The waitress forgot about us and brought our second dish really late after us eyeing it on the counter for so long. I don't recommend getting the unappetizing sushi box which comes with a salad that is not fresh and a miso soup that was bland in flavor. Our yearly anniversary stop! My wife and I love this place. We have been here about 4 times already now, since we live about an hour away. Their service is great and they are super friendly. There added ice cream at the end of the meal is a nice touch. The prices are very reasonable compared to other places. I know its not the freshest there is out there but its wonderful for us. Came here with my sisters on a Black Friday night, it was crowded but we were seated pretty quickly. We ordered 3 rolls, I got the Fuji Roll and it was delicious! The staff were very friendly and they served complimentary edamame and strawberry ice cream for dessert! It's a great location in the mall, clean and cute decor. I knocked off one star because the food came out at different times and typically people like to eat at the same time. Also, they forgot to put in my order for ramen so that came out pretty late. We come to this restaurant quite often, this is the first time we received terrible service, I didn't see the owners around (while the cats away) ..waiter took a long time to take our order, the food came out same time as the soup which sucks, the beef ribs were cold, I tried several times to flag someone to help us but they seemed to busy watching the game by the bar. In San Francisco yelp they refer to them as jive ass rolls, and those are what I really enjoyed at the Sushi Boat. One of my least favorite ex-boyfriends showed up in town unannounced and when my girlfriends and I tried to brush him off he insisted on taking us out to dinner. He thinks he's such a ladies' man! So since he's paying one of my roomies says we're eating Japanese. We don't look the part but when sushi is involved my girls and I can really eat. We ordered an assortment of traditional rolls and jive ass rolls and every one of them was delicious. Good food can really help you forget bad company as we pretended to engage in polite conversation with Mr. Hottie. In the end my girlfriends and I had nothing but compliments for the kitchen. Judging by the puzzled look on his face I think it's safe to think my ex thought the compliments were directed at him. I didn't see the total bill, but he showed his true colors when he asked one of my girlfriends to calculate the tip for him. As far as this review goes, he won't see it. Worse so-called sushi I have had in two decades. Bland dead overly frozen garbage for fish. Service is good though, not that this matters when the food is trash. To be specific, the fish is frozen grocery store quality. Sushi fish must be fresh and safe and purchased from ligit fish dealers who distribute fresh caught or flash frozen fresh fish. Going to Cost-co or some scary asian grocery stores DOES NOT COUNT. In addition there is NOTHING Japanese here. Poor service and mediocre food. I'll start off by saying that I ordered the sushi combo which includes 10 pieces of sushi. When it arrived I was given a plate with 8 pieces and when I asked for the other two our server, Claudia, responded by saying "I'm forgot to tell you but we don't have that." Not to mention that the sushi combo is supposed to be a chefs choice (not mentioned on the menu) yet she still continued to take my order. Upon her god awful service, she forgot to add items to the receipt and ended up bringing out two more copies but asked ANOTHER server to do so.. Never received any apology from her personally. We had another server come back every time after Claudia realized she messed up, and I will say she was very good. We even gave her her own tip. Now for the other food.. The other members of the table ordered shrimp & vegetable tempura and tonkatsu. Saying the tempura batter was soggy would be the height of understatement. Not crunchy whatsoever. And as for the tonkatsu? If you've ever had a well done steak that was the texture of it. Will not come back again and will deter anyone from going if asked if it is a good choice for dinner. So bad that I'm writing this from the restaurant, couldn't even wait until later. Would've been 1 star if not for the udon saving the day and the other server who helped out. read more

Sidenote: The restaurant is located right across the street from the theaters adjacent to California Pizza Kitchen so be sure to park in the structure. The whole shebang wrapped into one japanese restaurant The decor, service, presentation and most importantly the quality is amazing. Despite the rude behavior of my company they were very accommodating and apologetic (even when it was clearly my party's arrogance that was ruining the dining experience.) Our server was switched and the manager made multiple trips to ask if everything was copacetic. Now that I've gotten that detail out of the way, back to my personal experience. The signage outside the restaurant was a bit discreet but aren't all the better restaurants? Inside was a chic "japanese" style arrangement of dark wooden booths and tables. Lighting is just right and off to the left of the restaurant is a wall full of anime drawings. Trendy and stylish. The menu is simple and not laden with different styles of cuisine. Flip over to the back and you have a huge selection of customized rolls with interesting names and images to give you an idea of how they will look like. They are even organized from what I'm assuming is the year they were created. [As I write this I am polishing off my "cupcake" roll ordered for take-out. Albacore, avocado, masago on the inside topped with more albacore and red roe (name?)] Presentation is amazing for every roll ordered. They even provided a variety of pickled ginger to compliment the orders. To top it all off the rolls are definitely worth the price you pay for them. Flavor, quality, and even portions are phenomenal. It has definitely been awhile since I reviewed a restaurant this extensively and I am very enthusiastic about returning here for a proper dining experience. I really can't get over the fact of how great the service was despite all the rudeness. If you like HUGE-ASS rolls with everything but the kitchen sink in em...THEN THIS IS YOUR PLACE! They have like 20 million of them!!!! If not, well, then not so much...Everything was fresh (and cheap), but strangely gigantic-not only portions but also just the items themselves (scallops, shrimp, etc.). I guess peeps in the IE really do like everything HUGE...I ordered salmon sashimi (my staple), a spicy scallop handroll with no rice (another must for me), and shared an order of sweet shrimp with my friend. I tried a piece from two of my friends' humongo rolls, and I had planned on sampling more but I was just...too full...and it was so overwhelmingly MEH, that I didn't feel like continuing...The highlight was watching my scrimps die before I ate them, with their little hearts still beating after their tails were chopped off! total bliss...specially since they were so big that everything seemed exaggerated. While I was not impressed with the sushi, the staff was so friendly, fun, and attentive that I had a great time here. I guess that could also be attributed to the free flowing sake and Sapporo (not to mention the wine tasting all day), but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt...Sushi Boat chefs and servers, you were awesome! Thanks for being so damn cool, cuz if you weren't this place might've sucked! Oh, and on a side note- I drunkenly left my camera there and when my friend went in the other day they had found it, and they gave it to her to return to me! My husband and I probably go to Sushi Boat once a week. The sushi is very fresh and always great. The service is wonderful and we usually always get seated right away and are very attended to the whole time we are eating. You get a free appetizer of edamame and a scoop of ice cream after your meal which is hard to beat. I can spend double at another sushi place and get less food at less quality. I met up with a friend for lunch here. The location is a bit odd for someone that has never been to this mall but it is located in between the mall, in a section that you are able to drive thru. It's the holiday season so the mall was packed, I was lucky enough to find parking in the first floor of the parking structure. The sushi place is small but there weren't many people dining. I like the small and intimate feeling of the restaurant. Their menu is very large and has a wide selection to please anyone. My friend is a simple california roll type of girl but I like some adventure in my life. We were both pleased with our selection. I wish I could say anything positive about the food, only because I don't want to offend the staff or the owner as they were extremely kind. The service was actually the best we have had anywhere, unfortunately that's where it stopped. All the fish has been pre cut and layed in the refrigerated display case like you would expect at a Subway sandwich shop. Rolls were better, but had a theme of pre made crab filling centers topped with the pre cut sushi. Also should note the rolls were all heavily over done with fried and heavily dressed toppings in crazy American style fatty fashion. Chicken teriyaki was no better, same frozen bag you would get at Trader Joe's. It seems being in or near the mall and across from the theatre they are catering to a crowd that doesn't know the difference and doesn't mind the McDonalds / hot dog on a stick type of cuisine (and the great reviews I read substantiate this). If you like it, that's great because as I mentioned, the owner and staff are awesome and need the business. If your reading this because you are a fan of good sushi or possibly from Orange County, I just saved you from making a big mistake. Eat up Temecula, the staff needs you! read more

This was hands down the worst sushi my family has ever eaten. The sushi rice was incredibly soggy and mushy. We could not eat most of the sushi, so we request to exchange it for something else. The only reason this place gets a three star and not a one is because most of the servers were very accommodating and were quick to swap out our disgusting sushi for something else. According to one of the servers, the person who usually makes the sushi rice was off due to it being Christmas Day. Aside from the horrible tasting sushi, the miso soup and the salad dressing was below average. The only dish that was decent was the udon. We will not be giving this place another visit, it was a total waste of time and money. What I was hoping would be a memorable Christmas dinner for my parents who just moved to California with huge expectations of good sushi restaurants, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. Let me start by saying that I have frequented Sushi Boat since 2005, when they still had the wall of Polaroid pictures up of their customers! They have since relocated across the way right between CPK and H&M. When craving sushi, Sushi Boat is hands down mine and P's go to. The service is excellent. I cannot stress enough how kind, curtious, and familiar they are with us! I believe the older man who wears the shirt and tie is the owner. He almost ALWAYS comes by our table to greet us and ask how everything is. We try to keep it simple when ordering. P absolutely loves the smoked salmon nigiri and the salmon skin roll! He gets it everytime! I usually stick with the avacado roll, spicy tuna hoso maki, tamago nigiri, and the shrimp tempura hand roll. As far as specialty rolls, I try to stay away from them! They're usally way too heavy and filling. They are also serving ramen now! Honestly, the quality of their ramen is nowhere near the quality of ramen shops in LA, OC, and SD (then again this is a sushi joint, not a ramen shop...shame on me). However, it's not the worst. When the craving sets in for a hot bowl of ramen at 8pm in the middle of nowhere Temecula, Sushi Boat will definitely suffice! Oh! They also give you a complimentary scoop of ice cream at the end of your meal! P and I are usally too stuffed by that time, more times than not we have to shake our heads to ice cream. :P Overall, a solid and consistent sushi restaurant in the Temecula/Murrieta area. My daughter and I have eaten several times at Sushi Boat in Temecula, and the food has been consistently excellent. My daughter is a huge sushi lover, but I am not. The really nice thing about Sushi Boat is that there is plenty of food on the menu that isn't sushi - and the box meals are a good value and great food! I particularly love their teriyaki beef, chicken, and, especially, the teriyaki salmon. The soup is very good, and the salad is fantastic thanks to a house dressing that is my personal favorite! My daughter has raved about their sushi, too, and has tried many different varieties along with different soups. The service at Sushi Boat has always been good for us, and the employees have always been friendly. We definitely recommend Sushi Boat! read more

I usually order the beef teriyaki or chicken katsu box which comes with the entree, rice, a couple potstickers, a side of tempura, and couple pieces of deep-fried avocado rolls (which are DA BOMB) During high school, my friends and I would go so often that the owner remembered us! I placed an order over the phone at 2:36 pm under my bf's name and was told it would take 25 minutes to which I agreed was fine. I arrived at around 3:06 and was told by a gentleman that he would check if my food was ready. He leaves and never comes back to tell me whether my food was ready or not and I just see him doing other tasks. I wait until 3:13 and still no one has said anything to me. I catch a female worker and asked her if I could go grab something from the mall and be right back she said ok. While I was gone I asked my bf to go get the food. They tell him there was no order for us even though they took my money already. Finally, I make it back and was able to get my food at 3:22 pm. It took almost an HOUR to have my food ready. The store wasn't even busy. I felt so disrespected, no one updated me or apologized for the inconvenience. Terrible experience. The food was decent but overpriced. read more
