If I could give this zero stars I would. This was the worst roll I have ever had. When I placed my order she wanted me to pay over the phone because people haven't been picking up their food to go... I should have seen this as a red flag but I thought I would give it a try.. I told her no I would pay when I pickup. The salmon was not fresh and so thin I could barely taste it. Don't be fooled by the location/ exterior. There is GOLD in here. The pieces of nigiri are large, the fish is fresh and high quality, and it's cut really well! A lot of the rolls are pretty Americanized, but they are SO GOOD. The Detroit roll is a must! The thing that really sets this place apart is the service. The waitstaff here is always next level amazing. Incredibly sweet and helpful. Went to dinner with a friend yesterday and we heard the waitress tell the sushi chef that the plate looked beautiful (it did). It was so friggin wholesome and heartwarming. OUR FIRST SERVER DAN WAS TERRIBLE!! Do not be seated by him! Other staff and food are wonderful. This is my review; We came in to Celebrate After My First Day at Chrysler. Dan was set as our server at first; he was Pompous, Ignorant and forgot that within the Hospitality Industry you have to be hospitable. Once he heard about a celebratory dinner; his eyes enveloped within a tips glance. As I joked about being broke his Demeanor and Excellent service thereafter dwindled into nothing. His counter-part Ericka saw that we weren't being taking care of while he counted his tips in sight of our table. I asked twice about getting a refill for my soda to which Dan ignored us so I stood up and while enroute to the bathroom dropped off the glass. While in the bathroom his ignorance proceeded him and He started Cursing at how he'd like to tell me to piss of with myself and soda to a co worker while right outside the bathroom. He was ill Aware I was in there. I came out of the restroom told him off cake to my seat to find A Purposefully Flat Soda. We kindly asked Ericka to take over after that. The sushi is decent and the other things I've had (miso soup, salad, etc.) were also OK. Where Sushi Bon seems to struggle is with service. When they first opened, I learned the hard way that you need to unpack everything and check to make sure you got what you ordered (because you probably didn't). Because of that, I stopped coming -- their prices are on the higher side for sushi and I didn't like having to take so much time to figure out what they missed if I was in a hurry. My wife still did carry-out from time to time and they still missed stuff so she stopped going. There's a place closer to home that is much better if we can hold out for dinner, rather than having sushi for lunch. We stopped by recently and ate in, which was a first. One waitress seemed really flustered, and the other had a language barrier (which I've noticed before, I'm willing to work through it but it takes longer to get things fixed). We had to ask multiple times for silverware (my wife doesn't do chopsticks), and it was a while and several things delivered before she got one. Her eel sauce came *after* she'd already eaten all the sushi. The ordering seems to be a real issue even at dine-in. If you're going to make people write down the code rather than the name, have a sheet with the name/description/something so you (and the server) get it right. I heard several times when food was being delivered "That's not what I ordered," usually followed by a "fine, I'll just keep it." Part of that might be due to the delay in getting food or maybe just trying to be nice. I have to wonder how much food they waste or give away because of wrong orders. When it takes a while to get your food, a re-do might be the difference between getting back to work on time or being late. So due to all of these things, I'll skip Sushi Bon going forward. There are other, better options that are significantly less frustrating. I wish them the best and they seem to do decent business, but they really need to fix the service and ordering issues if they expect people to be repeat customers. read more

Sushi Bon is becoming a staple for my significant other and me. I have yet to find all that many good restaurants in Warren... but Sushi Bon is an exception. Solid sushi and sake. It's also never too crowded here, so no problem getting a table. The service has always been great and kind. Prices were pretty standard for sushi. Not super cheap, but not nearly as expensive as some of the Royal Oak places. I would say better quality than those other places too! TRY THE YUM YUM ROLL. It is divine. read more

ISSUE #1 On the way out I jokingly asked owner (he was ringing us up) "so what's it take to get on the wall here? (they have about 4,000 Polaroid pic's of random patrons on the wall). Owner looks at me and says "oh you? No noo no". HAH really? ISSUE #2 I ordered a "regular roll" it was listed around $6, might of been $5.50 on menu; but it was cheap. Get the bill and it's rang up for $8.... I didn't say anything cause my gf is terribly afraid of even the slightest hint of confrontation. Okay, sorta bullshit but whatever.. ISSUE #3, this 1 made me LIVID and prompted this review. Our cute little AMERICAN waitress couldn't of been better, great social skills and energy. Moving on, there's a tip jar out in the open by chefs. One would assume- here's where you leave your tip if you'd like to (sorta ridiculous it states on the menu "tips aren't necessary") WOW, really wanna make sure your staff makes no money much? Well, the American ones at least.... So I tip $13, cause I thought our waitress was great. While paying I see a different jar stating "tips for servers". Thats not right, in this type of setting ALL tips should be split. I tell the owner, "listen, I just put $13 in that other jar, that was for our server (my wod with the 10 on the outside was clear as day)May I have at least 1/2 back to give her?". "NO NO NO, das for susi jeff" Then he says "she already take care of it (trying to say my gf tipped on the card; which she didn't cause I TIPPED). As he makes this bs lie up on the spot her gestures with his hand to leave. Basically shooing us out. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. $73 spent and I left feeling insulted, conned and infuriated! I've only been here before an after rushes, so I am speaking mostly of the sushi and service itself. As someone who is new to sushi and is an infamous picky eater, this is a great sushi place to start your adventure. I like that the menu has clear explanations of the rolls since even common place rolls can vary place to place. The ambience is very relaxed. I can come in here to stuff my face, get some work done or have a romantic meal. The seating accommodations are comfortable and the decor matches. This experience prompted me to give my first ever review. There was plastic in my sushi that I almost choked on! It was in 2 pieces so it wasn't just a fluke. The sushi was not good. Very tasteless. The spring rolls tasted like they were previously frozen. The miso soup was disgusting. It also had no tofu or seaweed in it. Horrible experience, I will not be going back. I have been hoping for a good sushi restaurant in the Warren area for quite some time now and was delighted when I saw a "coming soon" sign in the window of a place called Sushi Bon. Today I stopped in for some take-out, and I will definitely be back again! I ordered the Philadelphia roll and the crunchy California. Both were prepared really well, had fresh ingredients, and tasted great. My only complaint is that the rice was a bit too sticky and left a residue on my hands. (Yes, I eat sushi with my hands when I'm in the comfort of my own home/office.) It reminded me of the sticky rice that you find in Korean restaurants, which goes well with Korean food but not my favorite on sushi. Speaking of Korean, Sushi Bon does offer some Korean dishes, such as bulgogi and bi bim bop, but they do not come with any of the little side dishes (banchan) like other Korean restaurants do. I will most definitely be coming back, hopefully to dine in at some point, but for sure to get carry-out during work. I liked this place. I am a sushi lover so I'm always looking for a good place to get it. This was a good option. The menu was laid out and very informative the service was good and the sushi was decent. Some of the sushi was amazing some of it was just ok. They do a great job with fresh ingredients and speed they need to work on their sauces. I've had better sauces in other places The atmosphere was nice a quiet place that had a lot of authentic Japanese art and it played Japanese music which I appreciate. This is a gem within the City of Warren. (Although there is really no Japanese restaurant in the city. Other restaurants carry some "Japanese food"). We've been here several times. The place is quiet and has Japanese ambience. Typical Japanese very clean and simple. We ordered the dinner course E3 served with soup, edamame and ice cream. On the side ordered giyoza as appetizers. Rolls were huge sizes. Service was friendly. My diners were full and satisfied. Definitely will come back again. (By the way soups are free). read more

This is my first review. I never write reviews but I thought this place deserved one. I have been looking for a killer sushi place since moving here from Las Vegas. The sushi out there is amazing and it's hard to find one out here to compete. However this is THE place to come for sushi. Spacious booths for larger built people such as myself. Waiter greeted me right when I opened the door literally. Was so courteous and atentative throughout my meal. Best sushi I've had in Michigan hands down. No one can beat their prices either. The service was excellent, and the decor was clean and inviting. We had various pieces of sashimi as well as rolls. Ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality. The salmon, yellowtail, and scallop were amazingly fresh and flavorful. The freshwater eel was the best I have ever had. Our gracious host was even kind enough to offer us a few pieces of escolar on the house, after hearing us conversing about it. I feel kinda bad that this place doesn't get more business, every time I come in it's pretty much empty. Service is always pleasant, the second you walk in EVERYONE greets you. Seriously, all the sushi chefs and the one waitress normally on duty gives you a big "hello!". Sushi is pretty good, not spectacular, but definitely above average. On my last visit with my girlfriend, the chefs created an elaborate display garnished with apples and palm leaves. After we finished they sent over the rest of the Apple carved into a flower. The pros: Satisfied my craving. Fast service. Decent flavor. The cons: Small rolls. Poor construction, constantly fell apart while I was eating, mostly veggies/filler with very little meat. It's great to have a good sushi place so close to work. The sushi were well made, service was fast and friendly, and prices were reasonable. The sushi tasted very fresh. There are very little complaints, including a long wait (~25 minutes) for my one dragon roll and one white tuna compact roll, and the place only had about 5 people in it; I don't see the need for waitress service at a sushi restaurant; and I swear the provided chopsticks are larger than normal, and I had a hard time using them effectively. Oh, and the wasabi was very weak. I hope the speed of orders improves the next time I go there, or I might dock this place 1-star, considering it probably gets a lot of its business during lunch hours considering its location. But for now, I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for sushi. EDIT: After reading other reviews, I agree that the amount of fish inside the rolls (especially the compact rolls) is wanting. I lowered my review from a 5 to a 4 and hope the restaurant can spare adding a little more fish to each roll. With the average cost on top of the added cost of tip, I still prefer other places more for the money. read more

Had their veggie udon for dinner. It's a bit on a small size and the veggies were close to none existence. The noodle was good, a bit al dente. The broth was clear and flavorful. They give you fruit at the end, which was a nice touch especially after a bowl of hot udon :) The waitress was nice and prompt. I don't think she speaks English well so I'm not surprise when a review had a complain and she didn't do anything about correct. She might had not understand the customer... Their sushi is good, but since I had the hot plate bibimbap, I can't stop thinking about it, and it's been weeks. I am in love with their hot teas. Soooo sweet and flavorful! Outstanding service. Wait staff and sushi chef are beyond welcoming and helpful, and are very genuine. The music was funny the last time we were there (strange mix of covers), but made the experience that much more enjoyable.
