Sushi By Bou in NoMad is an experience every sushi lover should try at least once. The omakase is fast-paced (12 courses in about 30 minutes) but feels intimate, elevated, and so much fun. Every bite is perfectly crafted; from the rich toro to the buttery uni, and you can tell the ingredients are top quality. The vibe is what sets it apart. Think low lights, great music, and friendly chefs who make the whole thing interactive. It's luxury dining without being pretentious. Perfect for date night, celebrations, or if you just want to treat yourself to something special. Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time, it's one of those NYC spots that's truly worth the hype.

My friend and I had a reservation at 7 pm but they were running a little late so we didn't get seated until 7:10 pm. Service throughout the entire night was great! We were checked up on and shoutout to Alex, one of our chefs for the night! He was great and we had fun talking to him. He recommended yuzu sake and my friend and I loved that combo (easier to drink than regular sake). We got the 12 courses. My favorites were miso cod, unagi, and salmon roe. Tip: if you sign up for the loyalty program you get free hand roll (chef's choice). I got miso cod. The entire reservation (1 hour) went by so fast. They were efficient and service was truly great!! I will definitely be back.

I usually don't like sushi, but this place changed my mind. Wow. So fresh and tasty. We had 2 cocktails and went to an omakase. What a cute place and executed well. Great staff. Best drinks. It's 30 minute seating. 99s hip hop music and decor. 10 out of 10.

My fiancé and I booked the Tuna Toro Omakase to celebrate our birthdays. We arrived at the lobby and were given a key to the sushi suite. We grabbed drinks at the mini outdoor bar and were immediately seated. The courses include a mix of Otoro and chutoro cuts enhanced with uni, chili oil, truffle and caviar. The bartender Juan and the sushi chef were friendly and insightful. It's a unique experience that I'd recommend for a special occasion.

Auto gratuity for everyone. The real price is $95 not $60 something. The rice was the worst I've ever had. It was so overpowering (vinegary) and there was wayyyyyy too much. It's not just bad for omakase it bad sushi in general. My local sushi shop that sells nigiri for $2 a piece is better than this. The pieces of fish were tiny and not good quality. The uni and wagyu was greasyyyyy and way too heavy. There was nothing special about the pieces, just regular nigiri. The music was way too loud and the sushi chef was too fast with the pieces.

We had an awesome time here! Chef Koichi did an amazing job on the 12 piece omakase set ($65 each)! We had an 8pm reservation which we were a little late to but it wasn't a problem (they did call to check). The food came out pretty quickly which others have said as well. We ordered drinks and took our time so the overall dinner took about 1.5 hrs. We ordered a few things a la carte, one that was recommended, the "Big Mac" and then toro. The Big Mac was absolutely delicious but came with a $25 per piece price tag. It has uni, wagyu, scallop, and toro so it was a tasty but expensive bite! The fatty tuna was good ($12) but as expected. Overall, we had a great time and I would come back. I would recommend ordering the 17 course because 12 was not quite enough for us to be full.

Had the 17 course omakase, which was overall very good. Reservations are highly recommended as it was a full house. There was only one seat for a walk in, that's how busy it gets. Although when you book, it says 60 minutes, all the pieces for the omakase is out in about 35 minutes. You can definitely stay around for drinks or dessert, chatting with the people in your party. Each piece was prepared and presented in such a manner that reminded me much of my time in Japan. The 17 course was $100 which is quite reasonable for the amount of food you get, you get quality food and service.

Miso Cod (THE BEST)

Wow this omakase was so worth it for the quality of fish and price! We chose the 12 course for $65 which is a steal! This omakase had variety and range of options. Everyone's sushi craving's would be satisfied since the omakase offers: Yellow Tail, Lean Tuna, Chopped Tuna, Spotted Prawn, Salmon Roe, Albacore, Scallop, Miso Cod, Fatty Tuna, Salmon, Surf & Turf (Wagyu with Uni), and BBQ eel. My favorites were the Miso Cod (better than Nobu any day) Albacore, Fatty Tuna, and Surf & Turf! The fish slices were fat and generous and I like how it was efficient too with 30 minutes in and out!

Speakeasy counter bars seem to be trending in Gotham the likes of which are all too familiar in Japan. Without missing a beat, Sushi by Boū fuses Japanese omikase fare set inside an homage to Gotham's Hip Hop majestic pop culture, from Notorious B.I.G. and graffiti street art set inside the walk space of a boutique hotel's lobby to it's in-house bar lounge. It's well thought out in it's design, and it is oozin' hella sexy vibes from start to finish. It's a sushi spot, so, pretty and cool as it may be I'm here for the grub, and I'm hungry... and it's late... and my mates are going on and on about this place they practically stumbled upon that I "gotta try!" So, here we are... hold on to your seats, 'cause despite my boys never fail to bring me to amazing spots all around town, I was not expecting to get my mind blown. Definitely don't judge a book by its cover --by this, I mean specifically lots of places can kill it with décor and vibe, charm and thought provoking ingredients on the menu, but we've all been to plenty of places that didn't deliver on the advertising, and this spot delivers with a triple threat: ambiance, cuisine, & service.

Sake - Salmon

Pretty decent experience - I've been a few years ago when it was $50 for 12 pieces and it is now $70. They do have a BOGO until end of September which we purchased ahead of time and made a reservation with via Opentable. We arrived around 8PM on Monday and waited in the hotel lobby that served as the entrance until they were ready to seat our round of diners. It was a bit cramped and dark - they really tried to maximize the space. The music is a bit loud and jarring but nothing too bad! Our chef was very sweet and walked us through each nirigi and where each ingredient was from! The favorites were the very unassuming albacore which is torched, and the surf n turf. It was served at a good pace. We opted out of the drinks menu and they were sweet enough to give us sake shots on the house! They weirdly wouldn't allow my friend to wait at the counter for me while I used the singular bathroom in the hotel lobby while they let another person wait for their partner. Awkward lol.

I am only sad that I didn't start coming here sooner because this omakase spot is one of the best around! The quality is wonderful and the price is even better at only $60 for 12 courses. There are various locations and they all have a speakeasy vibe with limited seating. Due to this, be sure to make reservations when possible, which was very easy to do. This is a quick one hour seating experience, but I never felt rushed and was always just excited for my next course. If you come early, you can hang out in their lounge for some drinks (where you can also hang out afterwards too). The entire space has a 90's hip hop vibe with album covers as coasters and a big graffiti painting for Biggie on the wall. Even the playlist blasting takes you to that era of music. They served many amazing nigiris course after course. The flavors and preparation was well done to bring out the best of each fish. I was surprised there was even a Wagyuni (surf n turf), which usually is extra at other omakase spots. Since we came for a birthday, they even offered a free glass of sake for everyone who was also celebrating something. In addition, you can get an extra complimentary sake with Yelp check-in too! This is easily one of my favorite omakases in New York and can't wait to come back! Great food, service, and vibes all around.

Such a fun and different omakase. This is a chain that is blowing up everywhere. The omakase is reasonably priced, delicious and the drinks were strong, too! The style of this omakase has its pros and cons compared to a traditional, which is why it is more affordable. You watch the chef prepare each roll, but everything is already sliced up and prepped so it takes them no time to make it. There is loud music playing in the background so you can't hear a word they are saying when explaining the roll to you. The music was on point though and I love the hip hop decor. Again, it is just very different! We loved the salmon with yuzu and chopped up fatty tuna the most. The actual dinner lasted about 40minutes and they use the remaining time to ask if you want any additional a la carte items. 12 pieces goes by extremely fast. Since everything is semi prepped they are able to whip up the next roll a couple minutes after you finish the last one. Again, pros and cons. Regardless, such a fun experience and I would recommend checking out sushi by bou! Delicious sushi and fun/different vibes for an affordable price!

These are the first 6 courses. My favorite was the salmon roe.

I found a promotion on Facebook for a 12-piece omakase for $55 if you make a reservation for 5pm with code 555. Only thing is they only give a time limit of 30 minutes. Although it says they are a part of the Sanctuary Hotel, it is a separate entrance next to the Chemistry Room. You need to be very careful going down the stairs to the entrance. The staff is very friendly, from the person who opened the door to our sushi chef. All of the courses were very delicious, too. It was definitely not the norm for us, but we had a nice experience.

Ask the Community - Sushi By Boū - Nomad

Hi I have a quick question - I thought it was a 1 hour seating, but reviews are saying 30 minutes? That seems really fast for 12 courses.

It's one hour for both the standard 12-course and the bougie option. You'll just finish a bit later in the hour with the latter option.

Is there BYOB?

Hello, We have a full bar so there is no BYOB.

Is it at all possible to upgrade from the 12 piece to 17 piece during the seating?

Yes, you can add more pieces once you are there.

Do you take walk ins?

nope

What is the current omakase price for the 60 minute dining experience?

Hello Annie, We offer our signature bougie 60 min omakase for $100 which includes 17 pieces and a handroll. Please text us at 917-268-7268 when you are ready to book your 60…

Is big mac complimentary for the 17 omakase course?

It is not.

Is tip included?

Nope. You have to tip separately

What is the price range?

$50 for 12 pieces, $100 for 17 pieces

It was dark when we entered the coffee shop but an ajar door gave way to the bar. The decor is a homage to the works of Nikola Tesla, which can be seen in the subtle electric theme throughout the space and the naming of the cocktails. The space isn't too large - the bar and stools take up most of the space but they also have some booths/tables. The place looks great. The cocktail menu is very creative - I got one of their seasonal mixes that was actually two drinks in one. The main cocktail was meant to be sipped first and they provided a small glass of beer to be sipped after. The name escapes me but it was very good. We walked in without a reservation around 6:20 p.m., and they were able to accommodate us at a shared table until 7:15. The menu surprised me a bit. Since I associated the address with Eleven Madison Park, I wasn't expecting to see items like wings stuffed with sausage, which were done in partnership with Jungsik. We ordered those along with the mushroom burger and asked them to cut the burger in half for us. The cocktail menu was creative and a little intimidating, with unconventional ingredients like cream cheese and green curry. I went with a fruity Hendrick's-based drink, and my friend ordered the spicy green curry martini. Both were good. Mine didn't taste very strong, but it also wasn't overly sweet because there was enough bitterness to balance it out. The green curry martini was more adventurous but still worked. Service was mixed. There was a woman standing near us, so we tried ordering food with her, but she seemed hesitant to come over. Maybe she wasn't a server or was newer. For drinks, she brought over someone more seasoned, who quickly helped guide us based on our preferred taste profiles. Her suggestions were very good. The mushroom burger was the highlight for me. It was a little salty, but the crispy mushroom and soft bun were a great combination. I honestly wished I had more than half. The wings were okay. They were crispy on the outside and juicy inside, but coated in a Dorito-like powder that made them very messy.
