My son was late because their other location in Flatiron showed up on his GPS. That was a tad disappointing so maybe they need to update their Google and Yelp stats. My friend and I had a reservation at 7 pm but they were running a little late so we didn't get seated until 7:10 pm. Service throughout the entire night was great! We were checked up on and shoutout to Alex, one of our chefs for the night! He was great and we had fun talking to him. He recommended yuzu sake and my friend and I loved that combo (easier to drink than regular sake). We got the 12 courses. My favorites were miso cod, unagi, and salmon roe. My fiancé and I booked the Tuna Toro Omakase to celebrate our birthdays. We arrived at the lobby and were given a key to the sushi suite. We grabbed drinks at the mini outdoor bar and were immediately seated. The courses include a mix of Otoro and chutoro cuts enhanced with uni, chili oil, truffle and caviar. Auto gratuity for everyone. The real price is $95 not $60 something. The rice was the worst I've ever had. It was so overpowering (vinegary) and there was wayyyyyy too much. It's not just bad for omakase it bad sushi in general. My local sushi shop that sells nigiri for $2 a piece is better than this. The pieces of fish were tiny and not good quality. The uni and wagyu was greasyyyyy and way too heavy. There was nothing special about the pieces, just regular nigiri. We had an 8pm reservation which we were a little late to but it wasn't a problem (they did call to check). The food came out pretty quickly which others have said as well. We ordered drinks and took our time so the overall dinner took about 1.5 hrs. We ordered a few things a la carte, one that was recommended, the "Big Mac" and then toro. The Big Mac was absolutely delicious but came with a $25 per piece price tag. It has uni, wagyu, scallop, and toro so it was a tasty but expensive bite! The fatty tuna was good ($12) but as expected. Had the 17 course omakase, which was overall very good. Reservations are highly recommended as it was a full house. There was only one seat for a walk in, that's how busy it gets. Although when you book, it says 60 minutes, all the pieces for the omakase is out in about 35 minutes. You can definitely stay around for drinks or dessert, chatting with the people in your party. Each piece was prepared and presented in such a manner that reminded me much of my time in Japan. Pretty decent experience - I've been a few years ago when it was $50 for 12 pieces and it is now $70. They do have a BOGO until end of September which we purchased ahead of time and made a reservation with via Opentable. We arrived around 8PM on Monday and waited in the hotel lobby that served as the entrance until they were ready to seat our round of diners. It was a bit cramped and dark - they really tried to maximize the space. The music is a bit loud and jarring but nothing too bad! Our chef was very sweet and walked us through each nirigi and where each ingredient was from! The favorites were the very unassuming albacore which is torched, and the surf n turf. It was served at a good pace. We opted out of the drinks menu and they were sweet enough to give us sake shots on the house! They weirdly wouldn't allow my friend to wait at the counter for me while I used the singular bathroom in the hotel lobby while they let another person wait for their partner. Awkward lol. read more

I am only sad that I didn't start coming here sooner because this omakase spot is one of the best around! The quality is wonderful and the price is even better at only $60 for 12 courses. There are various locations and they all have a speakeasy vibe with limited seating. Due to this, be sure to make reservations when possible, which was very easy to do. This is a quick one hour seating experience, but I never felt rushed and was always just excited for my next course. If you come early, you can hang out in their lounge for some drinks (where you can also hang out afterwards too). The entire space has a 90's hip hop vibe with album covers as coasters and a big graffiti painting for Biggie on the wall. Even the playlist blasting takes you to that era of music. They served many amazing nigiris course after course. The flavors and preparation was well done to bring out the best of each fish. I was surprised there was even a Wagyuni (surf n turf), which usually is extra at other omakase spots. Since we came for a birthday, they even offered a free glass of sake for everyone who was also celebrating something. In addition, you can get an extra complimentary sake with Yelp check-in too! Such a fun and different omakase. This is a chain that is blowing up everywhere. The omakase is reasonably priced, delicious and the drinks were strong, too! The style of this omakase has its pros and cons compared to a traditional, which is why it is more affordable. You watch the chef prepare each roll, but everything is already sliced up and prepped so it takes them no time to make it. There is loud music playing in the background so you can't hear a word they are saying when explaining the roll to you. The music was on point though and I love the hip hop decor. Again, it is just very different! We loved the salmon with yuzu and chopped up fatty tuna the most. The actual dinner lasted about 40minutes and they use the remaining time to ask if you want any additional a la carte items. 12 pieces goes by extremely fast. Since everything is semi prepped they are able to whip up the next roll a couple minutes after you finish the last one. Again, pros and cons. I found a promotion on Facebook for a 12-piece omakase for $55 if you make a reservation for 5pm with code 555. Only thing is they only give a time limit of 30 minutes. Although it says they are a part of the Sanctuary Hotel, it is a separate entrance next to the Chemistry Room. You need to be very careful going down the stairs to the entrance. The staff is very friendly, from the person who opened the door to our sushi chef. All of the courses were very delicious, too. My biggest regret in life was it discovering this place sooner. Trying to find this place was tricky. Once we found the restaurant, we sat at the bar and got a drink while we were waiting for the previous party to finish up. It was a very cozy experience. Sitting at the sushi bar provided a great level of interaction with the chefs, which I loved! I love asking them about the fish and their techniques. Truly an unforgettable experience! My first visit I went to the Suite which I found so much fun to step through the door to a hotel room containing a sushi bar and outdoor space. I was served an ad on instagram for this spot offering a BOGO 12-course omakase for $70 (meaning you can feed two people at this price). The offer was for any Sushi by Bou location in the city. I told my friends about this offer so 6 of us went and we just included 3 confirmation numbers when we made our reservation at the Nomad location. I arrived a little after the time of our reservation, panicking since many omakase places run a tight schedule. When I got there, there were a bunch of people waiting in a lobby area. My friends had ordered some drinks while they waited. We were seated 10-15 minutes after the original reservation time. The host was quite lively, telling us the chefs might want a round of sake for the entire restaurant if they're feeling it. There were two chefs serving 10 guests. Dinner started with a shot of sake after the first course. They played hip hop all through dinner and the wall art is graffiti. This is a very urbanized omakase spot, a departure from the traditional omakase experience most other spots try to emmulate. The entire dinner felt like it was meant to be a big party. The nigiri itself was good, pretty standard variety of pieces but definitely had some standouts. My friends and I all agreed on the same 3 favorites for the group. I have mixed feelings about the hip hop theme but the food quality was pretty good and the experience was pleasant. No one left feeling full but can't complain about $35 for 12-course omakase. We were literally in and out within 35 mins. I really liked the fatty and lean tuna and a few other pieces. I did not like the eel piece. We were definitely still hungry after. Oh my goodness where do I even start, came here on the last day on our NY trip cause it was close to our hotel as well as $60 for omakase, why not? Well let me tell you this might have been our worse decision ever, the whole "experience" was 30 minutes max being served 12 pieces of sushi that was already pre sliced or some what pre made (there was literally no experience, was just a guy serving us low grade sushi). All the pre sliced sashimi slices were broken and mangled, I didn't even want to take a photo as I was so un-happy. 5 minutes into the service, I pulled the biggest piece of bone out of my sushi and the chef said nothing, no apology, no offering me anything. He just looked me in the eye and continued making the sushi. And the cherry on top from this experience was I got food poisoning at the airport. In hindsight $60 USD + tip ($125 ish CAD) sounded amazing for omakase but in reality it was just a waste of time, super market sushi would be better, service was not great and I got food poisoning. read more

This is hands down one of the best chef and amazing quality for the price which I was blown away and I am very picky sushi person as I lived in Japan. One of our friends came 1 hours late and they let him eat outside lobby and we are so thankful instead of getting it take out. My friend raved they haven't had such an amazing sushi experience for a while. Food : 5/5 - Fresh & Amazing Texture - all seasoned well so we don't need any soy sauce ! That's how omakase should be! We added extra pieces cause so good. Highlight: Cali Uni , Scallop and Sake Salmon (surprise) , Tuna & Botan Ebi (shrimp) . Yuzu Sake was so good! The albacore was described to us by the chef that it tasted like chicken, so when I ate it, all I could think about was eating chicken. Not really what I wanted to picture when I was eating sushi. My favorite bites of the night were the akami, hamachi, and toro. The akami melted in my mouth more than I thought it would. Hamachi was pretty fresh. Toro is always good. They serve all the pieces in 30min but we moved over to the bar inside to finish our sake. Affordable and tasty 12 course omakase for $60 per person. The interior is super small, seats only about 8 or so people at the bar, so a reservation is absolutely necessary. They have a lounge/bar area where you can wait either before/after your omakase experience to finish (or continue) your drinks. 4.5 stars. Had the pleasure of experiencing the 30 min 12-piece omakase a couple months ago and would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique sushi dining experience. This dinner had been a long time coming--I'd purchased a Sushi by by Bou x Yelp special offer during Black Friday 2019 and due to the pandemic Sushi by Bou kindly extended their expiration dates past the original 2020 end of year date. Being located in hotels, prior to vaccines being available there was a period when the various Sushi by Bou restaurants had been closed in 2020. Now while masks are not required they were recommended though only about 1/3 of the patrons were wearing them in the bar room area while I was there. The signs outside are a bit confusing bc the hotel has buildings on both the north and south side of 32nd street. The restaurant is in the building on the south side. Entering the hotel lobby, the sign for the restaurant is visible towards the back. Upon arrival, we were shown seats in the back bar room (not the sushi bar) with seating for about 30 people, and presented with drinks menus for ordering while we waited for the sushi bar to be ready. I ordered the Shiso Southsider, a refreshing drink of vodka, shiso leaves, simple syrup and lime juice. The wait was pretty short, about 10 min, at which point staff brought us to sit at the sushi bar. Right off they started with the hamachi (yellowtail), akami (lean tumi), then free shots of sake for everyone at the bar. It was a nice touch though since it's free don't expect super high quality sake. We enjoyed each piece of sushi as it was being served, the fish was fresh and the sauces and preparation for each paired well. The only downsides on food were that the presentation could have been a tad neater, and 12 pieces left me still a little hungry. As a side note, if you are a sushi purist looking to taste only fish and rice you'll need to look elsewhere! Otherwise this is a terrific choice, I may upgrade to their Bougie option for additional time and sushi next time.
