    Salmon and California roll
    Tania V.

First time here. The fish for the salmon roll is not very appealing. Service was fast. But not thrilled with the quality of the salmon.

Overall: okay sushi but not worth the price. Ambience (3/5): Clean and minimal, nothing special but comfortable for a quick lunch. Food (3/5): Sushi quality was average Value (2/5): $25 for a lunch roll set with the tiniest slices of fish (see picture)

Overall: C // 3 stars Restaurant in Manhattan focusing on Japanese breakfast, which is a food category in which I greatly enjoy. Unfortunately, I just found it to be quite mid and pricey for the content. (Salmon Ikura Don: C) - Aesthetic Japanese breakfast, but unfortunately I don't think there's much substance to the bowl as there are only about five slices of salmon and 2 ounces of ikura for $38. At this price point, other restaurants offer either higher quality fish that is glisteningly fresh and/or in higher quantities. Really yummy and affordable Japanese breakfast set! They make the omelette fresh in front of you and it is perfectly sweet and fluffy. I also loved the side of veggies, perfectly cooked rice, and miso soup! Would highly recommend adding the salmon roe to the side for an additional $4, it tastes perfect with the rice.

Located on the south (downtown) side on the Empire State Building, Sushi Beauu offers welcome respite from the crowds.

It was my kid who first noticed this wonderful, intimate little restaurant at the foot of the Empire State Building as we were hurrying past. We stopped in for takeout rice balls, which were exquisite and delicious. He had the beef, and I had the salmon, both of which were warm and a perfect balance of umami, starch and salt. We've returned for takeout but will have to stop by and sample some of their other menu offerings, which look absolutely fantastic. The service was lovely, too, with the host offering us a table to wait for our to-go order.

SO wonderful. We got to go for their dinner opening and every single dish was so exquisitely excuted. My favorite was the scallop sashimi, so fresh. The ambiance was also perfect - a peaceful reprieve in the heart of midtown. I'll definitely be back!

Sushi Beauu can be easily missed, but it is tucked inside the first floor of the Empire Stare building. Staff were super welcoming and they only serve breakfast onigiris and cute lunch sets for now. Love the open kitchen concept because you can see the chefs work their magic. Cant wait to come back again to try their omakase.

    Botan ebi "sashimi"

We dined for dinner on 12/3. Reasonably priced for quality fish but very shitty and hostile service. Id wish we left and ate at Mc Donald's. The service ruined our experience. When asked about "assorted fish", was responded with "if you can read... it says on the menu... assorted fish. That's what you will get" Very rude and condescending on multiple accounts. Clarified by asking what kind of fish and he said "luxurious"... ok .. but what kinds? Also asked for no wasabi due to a severe allergy and he says "I don't think we have that" and proceeds to serve the kaisen bowl with wasabi. When addressed, he hands us a spoon to "figure it out"... ok... We also ordered botan ebi "sashimi" but it was served cooked. When asked about this, server was defensive and said "when have you had it raw" and I responded "100% of the time in both New York and Japan" and he says "well too bad, this is how we do it here. This is not Japan" And we said "Sashimi is raw, it is under the sashimi section on your menu." He then asked if we still wanted it and we agreed to have it removed and to our surprise, he responded "too bad. You ordered it" and left the table. It's comical and hard to believe that these were the exact words spoken. Rude, dismissive, argumentative, and extremely poor hospitality. It didn't help that he was often hovering over our table and eavesdropping on our conversations while our glasses were empty. Weird. Then he would loudly talk about us to the other patrons and chefs for us to hear. It was truly awful and difficult to enjoy. We did not have a good time. Rather disturbing and disgusting attitude for a human. Despite the delicious meal, we will NEVER return nor recommend this restaurant to my locals nor tourists.

The atmosphere here was a bit more lively and crowded compared to the more relaxed vibe of the UWS spot. I enjoyed my meal even more this time around. I started with the beet salad, which was delicious and offered great value given the generous portion size. it featured sliced beets, arugula, goat cheese, and walnuts. I also had my eye on the hijiki soybean salad--which is a bit smaller and reportedly homemade--so I may try that next time, along with the warm mushroom salad which looked very tasty. The edamame was standard but served as a nice starter. For my main rolls, I chose the salmon avocado and the yellowtail scallion. Both were very fresh and definitely worth ordering again. The salmon avocado roll had a nice touch of sesame seeds on the rice, while the yellowtail scallion was prepared with the seaweed on the outside. My boyfriend's sushi entree looked excellent, so I am considering that or the sushi-sashimi combo for my next visit. The entrees provide a substantial amount of food, and I especially appreciate that they allow you to choose which roll comes with your meal.

They share a takeout menu and it's super easy to order--text what you want to the phone number on the website and pickup in ~20 minutes :). You pay on a handheld and they don't ask for tip for takeout. I love this process and truly wish more sushi restaurants in LA adopt the takeout box. The only one I know of is hefty but also $200 each lol, making Sanyuu's $69 omakase and $78 Everything don, not to mention the $30 giant salmon nigiri set, A STEAL! I enjoyed most of the pieces but I will say I don't like their amaebi or uni at all. I'm not sure what kind of uni is used here but it's the type with a very strong mineral flavor & aftertaste that I don't find enjoyable. We're spoiled by easy access to live spot prawns everywhere and fresh SB uni. Despite this, I wouldn't hesitate to come back if I lived in the city.

The slices aren't thin, delicate, and melt-in-your-mouth as one usually gets in a sit down; they are extra thick, and I had to really bite down on some of the pieces. The rice was nicely seasoned and was cooked well + portions are also big to match those thiccccc salmon slices. To be honest, I was getting a little nauseated after 5 pieces, haha~ They were definitely delicious but I'd probably just eat 3 or 4 pieces and share with a friend! It was easy to text the number on the website and coordinate a pickup time, and the staff was friendly when I arrived. The restaurant is a little hard to find as the windows are blinded and the sign is a piece of paper on the door.

The interior is minimalistic with a japanese feel through the zen garden. For drinks my friend and I had the sayonara which I enjoyed, but she thought was too strong. The ube tiramisu was free since we wrote a google review for the restaurant. Everything was delicious and the zucchini was surprisingly good as well. The pork was so tender. the ebi tempura were huge, and the mazemen was thankfully not spicy. However, the scallops could've been more tender and we we were all unimpressed with the ube tiramisu. Overall, I would come back and would definitely recommend konban! Get the corn ribs, zucchini, pork katsu, and corn ice cream! My friend did notice that some menu items changed from her previous visit (instead of the zucchini they had the eggplant in the past)
