So disappointed with this place. I have gone here 3 times yes 3 in the last 10 days it's close to my house, with my dog at night. I have a service dog (a real one) I carry my service card even though I do not have to show it, I do when people are rude or put out by my dog. The waiter tossed the menus and utensils on our table. When he took our order my partner said thank you and he just walked away ignoring her. We sat on the patio late afternoon not a soul outside, then out of of the back of the restaurant come a single guy who I have seen there before sits right next to our table alone sits down and then changes seats and I said " must have a better view" he said " No I don't want dog hair in my food" so out of all these tables and all the guest in the world I get the ONE single guy that hates dogs. He questions me about my condition and my dog. He orders an app of Gyoza and glass of water NO sushi. Not sure why they went though all the trouble to bother me. Didn't discover this place until last November 2020! Sushi cafe is my all time favorite place to get sushi now! Love the quality, flavor, and quantity you do get from the sushi. I'm surprise that I haven't reviewed this restaurant sooner. My favorite sushi restaurant hands-down is Wasabi in Seattle Washington. With that being my bar or standard I feel comfortable giving sushi café five starts. When I moved to Renton I learned that sushi Café delivers. That was amazing but I have to admit I was skeptical of the quality of food. Then I tasted one of their amazing Phoenix rolls. All of my skepticism went right out the window! They have amazing sushi. The quality of fish is very fresh and tasty. The service is quick and they deliver if you were within the delivery range. Their restaurant is small so you don't want to come on their busier times. Because they can't really fit a lot of people near once but they're always busy because their food is amazing. If you're thinking about whether to die or not to die in here you definitely want to down here! read more

Stopped by for a solo lunch - first time eating here in several years (since pre-pandemic). Last time I was here had a good experience but not enough to win me over from other local restaurants. I don't know if they've changed or if I have, but the tuna nigiri was phenomenal and well-portioned, and their menu of specialty rolls was speaking my language. I settled on the "Fancy Pants" which was a delicious spicy mix of tuna, avocado, and yellowtail. Also had a miso soup which was quite tasty. Staff was friendly and prompt. TV behind the bar was showing Spiderman 3 on FX - bonus points that enhanced my lunch. It's too bad I had to get back to work or I would've stayed, ordered more sushi, and enjoyed the movie. read more

When I first tried this as to-go, it was great! Flavors were different, fish was nice and chilled with no odd smells and at a great price. We don't eat sushi often so we only got it for special times. Had tons of house sauce on top too but the more I go, it seems to get less flavorful with less sauce and so fourth. Plating is still beautiful, and the to-go containers they use are stunning. They give you a nice amount of wasabi and ginger on the side too but seems to be hit or miss for us now. Their prices have gone up since the last year which is understandable with the current times but I'm just not sure I'd go back as often as I'd originally hoped. Don't let that stop you from trying it though! The staff are nice and the food is always prepared on time but will take longer during dinner hour so be prepared. read more

What can I say? This place is not your conveyor-belt joint that you'd have to worry about how fresh the sushi rolls would be. It's literally made in front of you by the talented sushi chefs. This is not a chain restaurant as it is owned by a family. You know, the best food tends to come from small local joints and not necessarily the big chain restaurants. We ordered the avocado roll, California roll, spider roll, and eel roll. They were simply fresh and delicious! I can't complain. Finally, I ordered Captain Crunch. Oh my! Those crunchy things just perfectly complimented the crab sushi rolls. I will definitely come back to this awesome place. First time there tonight and can tell you that from the moment we entered we experienced fantastic service, excellent quality food and a grand evening. From the best miso soup we have ever had to the extremely fresh tempura appetizer through the specialty rolls, nigiri and sashimi it was probably the best I've experienced EVER and I've lived up and down the whole west coast. I hesitated to write this review because it is a small place and want to make sure I can get a seat next time we go but have to shout out about their success. Third visit to Sushi Cafe - overall they have good sushi. We had the Tug boat, Nigiri sampler, Komodo Dragon and Phoenix Roll. The Nigiri sampler came w 8 different fish / seafoods and was excellent - great variety. The rolls were excellent as well with lots of flavor especially the Phoenix roll since it came w tempura shrimp and was topped w a drop of chili sauce. The Tug boat came w 5 nigiri and 5 sashimi pieces, both chef's choice. The nigiri came w 5 different fish and we appreciated the variety. However - we were a bit disappointed with the chefs selection of sashimi. It was the same fish (tuna) for all 5 pieces. Regardless of the sashimi - Sushi Cafe has good sushi. One of the best sushi spots in the Renton Highland area. The quality and taste of the fish and sushi rolls are out of this world and I have eaten a lot of sushi all over the Greater Seattle area. They have a very large menu so I've been working my way through all of the rolls and haven't been disappointed. Went there a couple weeks ago and was blown away! The staff for one was incredible. Their rolls were delicious and the fish was fresh. The salmon sashimi was the best I've ever had! I love this place during dinner. Really cool, chill, relaxing, laid-back and the design with decor compliments this well. The chinese sushi chef (owner?) is Jacky: well-crafted, pleasant, friendly, knowledgeable, and pretty cool. Waitress was his daughter that evening. Service by both was great & satisfying, smiles provided. I had questions for Jacky about the 3 different types of fish egg and he swiftly took out their 3 containers, opens them up and talks about them. How they taste different, what customers usually order, etc. I had an iced tea, veggie roll, sake nigiri, ichiro suzuki, sunrise, and mango+red bean ice cream. The service, quality, and experience is totally worth the bill. Fresh and presented well. He mentioned that they can (have in the past) deliver next door if it's busy. Our favorite sushi place for many years now. We used to live really close to the restaurant but moved since. However, we still come here pretty often. The sushi is always good. Meh... its ok. The "sushi chefs" are more or less kids and my sushi kept falling apart when trying to eat it with chopsticks. The original owner might have been professionally trained, but I doubt these cooks were. This doesn't EVER happen when I have my sushi prepared in other restaurants. Flavor.. not bad but nothing to write home about. The Chinese food on the menu is delicious but the portion was small for a 15.00 Mongolian beef order. Worth visiting? Sure.. I might have even come on a bad day.. and at least the staff are friendly which Sushi Roll Roll Roll are not. read more

Solid sushi place. Came here with my fiance for a quiet date night and we really liked everything we ate. We split the follow: - MVP ($11.95), which is a fancy California roll with the addition of torched salmon, mayo, and house sauce. It was absolutely delicious. - salmon sashimi, which is fine. Solid quality. - Negihama maki ($4.50) for yellowtail and scallion, which my fiance enjoyed. - Salmon skin roll ($6.95) which I really liked. It was well seasoned and the cucumber, avocado, and bonito flakes all combo'd well together. - Unagi maki ($7.95), which was solid. We also had some warm sake. The bill was reasonable and service was friendly. Parking in their lot is easy. They were certainly busy on the Friday night we went, so I think their turnover is probably pretty good. Food: The Agedashi tofu wasn't bad but I did think it's a bit below that of most places I've had it. Prob pass next time. Also had a few rolls: G-Rex, spicy scallop, and big fish? The last one may or may not be real. It was all pretty good. Prices: I thought they were pretty reasonable. Most rolls didn't cost more than $12 (specialty ones). We came when they first opened at 11:30 and there was already a couple of ppl ahead of us and many more that came after (while we waited). Out of all the fish in the sea... Sushi Cafe has the most flavorful sushi my taste bud have ever had! On top of the great food, you also get amazing service. The place is very small but they seat you the moment you come in. I personally would call a head of time to see how busy it is, and if you have a bigger party I would ask if it's possible. I usually come here with a total of 2 - 4 people and they always have seats, BUT during peak hours of the day it can get packed! I ordered the miso soup and crab wonton to start off with. This is why I'm rating them a 4 - it was lukewarm. Taste was still there, but it would have tasted so much better if it was hot. It tasted as if it has been sitting there for like 10 minutes because no one ordered it yet. The Captain Crunch sushi definitely had up for what I started with. Although it was falling apart every time I would try to pick it up with my chopsticks, every bite was a party in my mouth. This is my new favorite sushi spot in Washington in the Renton area. The customer service is great and food is brought out pretty quickly. Their fish is fresh and tasty. They have a great selection of rolls for a reasonable price. I'm just hoping sometime soon they will give an option for all you can eat and not just the rolls like places I've been to in Cali because this spot reminds me or one I use to go to all the time because it was an all you can eat place. Decided to try out this spot based on the reviews and I was very disappointed. Upon entering I noticed an unclean smell which is a little concerning since we are about to eat raw seafood. So, I decided to go against my nose and still order the egg rolls, sake, beer, nigiri pieces, and two speciality sushi rolls. I have never in my life had bad tasting sushi until this place. And I don't want to sound mean but the combination of flavors did not pair well. I also received my cold sushi on warm plates (weird). On top of that the chef was consistently sneezing while preparing the rolls. Once I saw that he was sneezing AND not washing his hands or wearing a mask AND continuing to make rolls, I decided to stop eating. Love this place! The sushi chefs are top notch here and the staff is always friendly to us. Been here many many times and I cannot think of one time when I had a single issue here. I love their Lunch Bento Box! You get a wide variety of good food with that...sushi, seaweed salad, lunch entree, miso soup and rice all for a good price. They make great sushi, appetizers, entrees and desserts. Everything is good here. Can sit at bar or tables and when it is nice outside they have an outdoor patio. Also great for ordering and grabbing your food to go. Only thing I think is probably not great for this place is if you have a large party of like 10+. Not the biggest in terms of space.
