Many speaking mandarin, lots speaking English. But anytime I go to a place and it's not filled with Americans but the people the cuisine represents, it's always a good sign. We were immediately greeted and they have quite a few tables. Many of them are the big round tables with the lazy Susan in the middle. Typical and traditional for a family dinner experience with Chinese food. As it's meant to be served and shared with everyone. You don't typically order your own plate. On our visit we ordered the Westlake beef soup, fried eggplant with spicy garlic, seafood chow fun with gravy, and the salt and pepper fried chicken wings. Every single dish was served piping hot and fresh. The chow fun had a hint of the wok char which is super important. And each dish was delicious. The eggplant was so tasty. The garlic extra crispy and not bitter at all. The crispy coating around the tender eggplant- exceptional! The chow fun was well balanced. The seafood cooked perfectly. The chicken wings, I only wish it had more topping on it. But fried well, light batter and seasoned to perfection. The soup was light and with a little white pepper, I was so satisfied. Definitely one of the standout items on the menu. The dim sum and chicken dishes overall are reliable and tasty, and I'd happily come back for those alone. That said, the restaurant itself is a little outdated, and the "fresh" seafood tanks are... a choice. The lobster, crab, and shrimp tanks look more like unkept pets than actual fresh seafood options. It's honestly a bit off-putting and doesn't inspire confidence if you're thinking about ordering from the live seafood section. The restaurant was insanely busy when I went, and there were people just waiting to get acknowledged and ask how long the wait was to be seated for 10+ minutes. The tables are so close together that it's impossible to not bump into someone, and someone kept bumping into my chair every time they passed to go to the bathroom. The restaurant itself is not very clean and two of the chairs at our table looked disgusting. The kitchen was clearly not prepared or staffed for the traffic the night I went. Several dishes were sold out, and many people arrived to pick up their order and ended up cancelling because the wait was so long. Our table ordered a variety of food (chow mein, orange beef, salt and pepper crab, fried pork, etc) and the food tasted generally good and was fresh, but it took forever to come out. With few Cantonese restaurants on the Eastside, my family ventured south to Renton Seafood Restaurant. This was my first time, but my family had been once before and said it was pretty good overall. We came at 5pm on a Sunday evening and the place was packed, granted that the restaurant is pretty small. They have about 7 tables that seat 8 people and maybe 5-6 tables that seat 4 people each, but with little walking space in between. They don't play any music, but it was comfortably loud with all the conversations going on at the other tables. We were immediately seated in the corner near the door, which FYI can get a little drafty when the door opens and closes. They didn't wipe the table down well as there were some strands of noodles, but I had a wet wipe on me and just wiped it off a bit more; we probably could've asked them to wipe it down, but they were very busy attending other tables. The carpet is also worn and the floor isn't that clean, so don't look down. The menu is quite extensive and has 6 pages plus a lunch special menu on the back. We ordered the ROASTED DUCK (HALF), the FRIED TOFU AND FISH STONE POT, the MUSHROOM YEE-MEIN, and the GARLIC PEAVINE. Of the dishes we ordered, the ROASTED DUCK (HALF) and the GARLIC PEAVINE were the dishes that stood out and would order again. The ROASTED DUCK was well-marinated and very meaty. For $16, it was well worth it. They drizzle a sauce on top which is savory and just slightly sweet. The GARLIC PEAVINE was super tender and had strong garlic flavor. It was fresh and a deep green color. This dish is about as good as it gets. The FRIED TOFU AND FISH STONE POT was alright. It wasn't super colorful as both the fried tofu and fish were brown, but there were mushrooms and napa cabbage on the bottom. It was savory, but kind of on the bland side. I also wish there were more vegetables in it. Lastly, the MUSHROOM YEE-MEIN (fried chewy noodles, like chowmein's chewier cousin) was a little overcooked. The noodles were lacking chew. The dish was also soupier than it should've been- normally yee-mein is served dry, but this dish was saucy which made the noodles soggier than preferred. Service varies depending on how busy they are. They brought our dishes out in a staggered order, but we had to wait a while for the peavine. They didn't forget, but we had finished all the rest of the food and were waiting a while for it to come out. Servers are friendly and they give you complimentary orange slices at the end. Overall, Renton Seafood is the most authentic Cantonese food we've found outside of International District. While I wouldn't go back for all their dishes, they are better and more authentic than Mai Place, Yummy Garden, and Royal Kitchen, but a step below the recently closed, Red Bamboo. 3.75/5 for food, 3/5 for service, 3/5 for atmosphere read more

I was so angry about the traffic jam, but I came across a Chinese restaurant on the way. The first dish, the roast duck, shocked me and made me eat it. It was so plump and juicy. I understand why some people think it was roast goose. It was really tasty and not like the skinny duck in the stereotype. Remember to ask the sister for sour plum sauce. Roast duck is incomplete without sour plum sauce. Then I ordered ginger and scallion lobster e-meal. I really wanted e-meal for a long time! This dish is amazing. It is a must-have dish for banquets. The lobster seemed to be 26 per pound, and it was 102 after adding e-meal. There are many other dishes that I didn't order because I couldn't eat them. The eel we ordered tasted like plastics, and it's the 4th time we came back for it, so we knew sth was off. However the female owner not only denied the problem, but refused to refund. We previously had dim sum here and wanted to pop in for a late lunch vs down to Lucky House, Triumph or Great Wall Mall. Yup, it was the same place, with greenish interior, but I saw no dim sum plates on anyone's table. The waitress came with the menu, we flipped through several pages and saw lunch specials on the back. She comes back and I ask about dim sum. Nope. New owners and they haven't served it for five years! We ended up staying and ordered garlic green beans, almond chicken, and fried sticky rice. I've never seen almond chicken like this (probably the prepped chicken for various stir fries and then dipped in a coating), but everything was actually really good. Don't sleep on this one folks- Renton Seafood is no frills and serves up classic and authentic Cantonese dishes without having to trek to the ID. FYI they don't serve dim sum. Ask about their fresh seafood selection and then get whatever it is steamed with garlic, I promise you it will be good. So much MSG in this that I couldn't even finish half the meal before getting that psuedo-filled feeling. No fridge at work, wasted $120, not a place I'll go back to. Multiple friends recommended Renton Seafood Restaurant's Roasted Duck (aka BBQ Duck) so we had to go try it. The decor of the restaurant is typical of most neighborhood Chinese restaurants but it is bright and well-kept. Menu offers a good balance of vegetarian and non vegetarian options, a good variety of seafood dishes, and some interesting chef's special. We ordered the Roasted Duck and it did not disappoint. It was SO good! The skin was crispy, and the meat was tender, juicy and flavorful. Steamed Oysters with Garlic and Scallions were fresh and tasty. The Sautéed Fish Fillet was a bit salty but still decent. The Stir-Fried Cured Meat with Veggies and Lotus Root was refreshing and the Beef Chow Fun was tasty. I recently visited Renton Seafood Restaurant for the first time and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. While the majority of the dishes were enjoyable, a significant issue arose with the 椒盐排骨 (salt fried pork chop). Upon tasting the pork chop, it had a sour flavor, suggesting it might have expired. When I brought this to the waitress's attention, she promptly removed the dish and offered a free replacement without any explanation. Curious and concerned, I asked her why the pork tasted sour when she returned. She candidly admitted that due to high temperatures in the kitchen, the chefs left the pork outside the fridge for too long, causing it to spoil. Despite this alarming revelation, she did not offer an apology, which left me feeling quite dissatisfied. When it was time to check out, I expressed my displeasure to the female owner of the restaurant. Rather than apologizing, she deflected the blame onto the manufacturer, which was a perplexing and unsatisfactory response. Even though she acknowledged it wasn't my fault, her lack of accountability was disappointing. Due to the poor service and the fact that I was served expired food, I decided not to leave a tip. The owner later approached me at my table to question why I hadn't tipped, insisting that their replacement dish should have warranted one. This interaction was quite uncomfortable, especially as other patrons were listening. Overall, while some dishes were good, the poor service and the unacceptable handling of expired food ensure that I will not be returning to Renton Seafood Restaurant. I've lived in renton almost my whole life and as long as this super Safeway has been here this place has been here. It's always looked really busy, but in 25 ish whatever years I've never eaten here until today. I ordered Kung pao chicken and my lady ordered fish and tofu hotpot. The hotpot is not soup at all. I don't think my lady was very pleased with it and just picked at it. I however really enjoyed my kung pao chicken. Our server was very nice. The ambience was kind of quiet no tv or music just the sound of the fish tanks and people chatting in a language I didn't know. I liked that kind of ambiance though. The food is tasty, portions are smaller, tight and limited seating for 4 or less. RD tables can accommodate large groups of 8-10. Service is good n friendly, but only 2 servers. I haven't been there in awhile, as the chalk board menu has changed to dishes I favored are discontinued, prices higher, (as to be expected, but it does limit my eating out frequency). The resturant is not clean. Mostly due to spoiled or bad health grade food standards, I'm NOT EATING THERE! It is very detrimental for us seniors, so it's too risky. Definitely not worth it. Another shout out to all resturants. In regards to wiping down tables, the cloth should not be used over n over. Get a fresh one, esp when used to wipe down seats, sprayed with chemicals, then continue using other tables, spreading nasty bacteria onward. Management plz note!!!! read more

One was overtaken by people from a larger party, and the other was being held back because it could fit a larger group and bring in more money. My wife and I visit this restaurant fairly often, mainly to attend dinner parties with friends. Though we do typically prefer Sichuan-style food, the Cantonese dishes at this restaurant are quite good, beautifully presented, and prepared with quality fresh ingredients. Each time we go we have around thirteen guests at our table and the waitstaff handles it very well. Dishes arrive promptly and are removed promptly when needed. Fresh plates are brought as needed. We tried the cold served Wasabi Chicken which does have a nice spicy bite to it. So if you enjoy Cantonese food you definitely want to try this place, and even if prefer Sichuan food give this a shot, you'll be happy you did. Invite lots of friends. read more

The restaurant is located in a neighborhood mall with many parking available. The area looks very safe and the parking lot is big. I have my car parked right in front of the restaurant. The King Crab and Geoduck is the best I have ever had in a long time. The other dishes are very delicious too! We have the Steamed King Crab Legs and Golden Salted Eggs King Crabs. The steamed king crab legs tasted super fresh and excellent timing. Fully cooked but not overcook. It is so tasty and just perfectly done! The Golden Salted Eggs King Crabs is looked very yummy and tasted even better than its looks! The geoduck sashimi is cut perfectly. Very thin cuts and keeping the original fresh taste.
