I'm visiting from California. Visiting my family. Went for dinner here on July 10. Ordered a bunch of food. We realized a few days later we never received one item. The gyoza! I called the restaurant and explained what happened, that we ordered and paid, but realized later the girl in blue hair braids didn't deliver the item. The woman I spoke to on the phone was clueless and unable to help, didn't offer me a refund, said she had no time to look at bills from day even tho I gave her transaction number and my credit card #, she didn't understand this was more about the principle that I paid and realized later there was an error on the bill. Today is July 12. This happened July 10. Girl on phone told me, there is nothing she can do. "It was so long ago" Ridiculous. Customer service is awful at sushi garden Brentwood. Choose somewhere else to eat. Food is fine. Service awful. I work for a large chain company, I'd never recommend sushi garden Brentwood to anyone. Vancouver and Burnaby have tons of great sushi restaurants. Sushi Garden Brentwood is awful. read more

Sushi Garden used to be my go-to place for a sushi. They sure have changed a lot after years. I came here with my sister for a lunch. We got Rainbow Roll ($6.95) and Spicy Salmon combo ($10.75). Food came out fast and this wasn't the problem. However the portion and size of rolls became smaller than before. Used to come here for a takeout and the portion of food got us VERY disappointed. I really liked the food here back then and now we'll go somewhere else instead. Service needs improvement as well. read more

Priced fairly as well. two things really IRK me about all the locations though. #1 they don't take reservations and won't seat a party of three or more until everyone has arrived. #2 they automatically will add a 18% tip for larger parties. Another Sushi Garden and it's so close to home. How can I resist? I gave it 4 stars because the quality and freshness of food are consistent across all 3 Sushi Gardens I've been too. Service is always friendly and fast. This particular location has more modern interior and of course everything is new from the tables, benches, plates, bowls and cups. It looks cleaner when everything is new, right? We ordered the usual. Salmon Sashimi, California roll, Spider roll, gomae, takoyaki and chicken karaage. They all taste good. We went on a Thursday night and it was packed. Good thing we still found parking. I think this will be my regular sushi place from now on. I will be back for sure. read more

Our go-to sushi. Tasty! I like that they have vegetarian options. Decent prices. Available for pickup during COVID19. They have a great system where pickup people line up on one side and delivery people line up on other side - feels safe for social distancing. Would be even better if they use more eco-friendly takeout boxes! We enjoyed and would recommend. I like their avocado rolls and chopped scallop rolls. If you want to go to a better fulfilling sushi restaurant which is also nearby here, go to Sushi Modo or Fresh Box. Better service and you can really taste the quality in their food. I was going to Sushi Garden almost every weekend or when I work late, I would go here cause it's easy and close to home. Even though I don't think their sushi is "amazing" but good enough for nights where you don't have time to cook. I always ignore their rude service. For example, most of the time it's the girls, when you order for take out on the phone, they would talk so fast you wouldn't catch your order and if you ask them to repeat it they would get aggravated so either say yes that's my order or deal with their irritation that you didn't hear them the first time. This one time we were waiting until a server would come by our table because we wanted to ask for our bill but no one came by or looked to see if we needed anything until it was 10:01pm and a server came by to kind of slam the bill down and said we're closed at 10pm and walked away quickly. I don't understand this type of behaviour. Our last straw was when I ordered for take out the last time around 9:30pm, again a girl, who was talking so fast and wanted to get my order over and done with as they will be closing in 30 minutes. I ordered wild salmon sashimi and I went in approx 15 minutes later, paid, got home, opened the boxes, not wild, it was farm. I called back a little after 10pm stating I didn't order regular farm salmon sashimi. And she quickly said no you did. I said I didn't it must have been a misunderstanding because if you look under my order history I have never in my life order regular salmon. (Note: When you call, they ask for your number and if you been there before they will always say your name to you to make sure that is you. Also I have worked at many restaurants before if you save a customer info in the system, the food history is also there.) Anyways, she tells me "Ok I asked the kitchen how long will it take you to get here? You just have to pay the price difference for the salmons." I said "Ok and around 10-12 minutes." When I got there I paid the price difference (about $3ish dollars more) and they said for the inconvenience here's a free box of salad. You know the salad they give you in Bento Boxes? Ya, the leftovers scraps to make up for the mess up she did and did not make a customer leave happy. She should have traded the salmon without me paying the difference as it was her fault on her part or suggested something else as she works in a customer service restaurant industry. Instead I left upset again, hate this place, and never will be returning based on many reasons and the final reason that got me and now they are left with an unhappy review. read more

I arrived here (Highgate location) on time for a meet with friends to enjoy and satisfy a craving for sushi.  The meal was pleasantly pleasing and gratifying. Plenty of parking in front of the main entrance with available street parking & back of building  (alley way). We ordered and the meal was promptly served.  Delicious and pleasing to the eye.  Rolls were plump & yummy. The wait staff -- very accommodating and pleasant. Not great, not bad, Sushi Garden is pretty affordable and the quality is pretty good as Korean-Japanese restaurants go. I came here on a Saturday night and was happily surprised I didn't have to wait long for a table. I ordered a few staples: alaska roll, house roll, nigiri: toro, hamachi, chopped scallop, and tobiko with quail egg, and mentaiko udon. The house rolls were quite large, filled with tasty salmon and tuna sashimi, imitation crab. The chopped scallop nigiri was great, but the hamachi had a fishy taste and smell. The mentaiko udon was a highlight: I like something warm on a cold, rainy night and this hit the spot. So tasty. Parking is not bad, some free street parking around the area. Sushi Garden is a Korean-run Japanese restaurant and this location is their newest location in Burnaby. Located beside Mr. Lube, this Sushi Garden used to be an auto shop - I actually had my car serviced here over a decade ago - as the dining area has been transformed from a multi vehicle auto service garage. The temperature of the dining area was almost garage like in coldness. Definitely wear a thick sweater or jacket. I had four different rolls (tropical dynamite, love - this was never printed on the menu, and why was this on the receipt?!?, spicy chopped scallop roll and BBQ salmon roll) The rolls were just okay in taste and they collapsed easily and the rice and toppings were a bit dry. They were similar to Costco sushi from Bellingham from the refrigerator section which a co-worker told me that I had to try it and she raved about, but it was her first time trying sushi for the first time in her life. The soft shell crab was actually very good and I was quite impressed that they could deep fry an entire crab to the point that they shell was edible and the crab itself didn't taste too greasy at all. The kaki fry (deep fried mini oysters) were nicely fried, not too greasy, and it tasted quite good with the tonkatsu sauce. Even though I'm a big fan of cooked salmon, my Dad was the only person who tried the BBQ salmon gama and he liked it a lot. The tea was bland and it almost tasted like like plain tap water and it was definitely not the genmaicha served at many Japanese restaurants. My fiance and I regularly dine/pick-up food at this Sushi Garden location because it's pretty close to our place and their food is reasonably priced and is consistent and delicious. We love their assorted tempura which is always a must order. They have a different tempura sauce than the traditional one - has green onions and is a bit on the sweeter side and I personally like it a lot. Their Dyska roll and Spicy Salmon sashimi are pretty good too. Unfortunately, they don't do deliveries. Also, try to avoid during the dinner rush since this location gets really busy at peak hours. read more

I visited this place once, and it'll stay at one. There has been many problems when I came to eat: 1. The food was expensive 2. NO parking whatsoever 3. The portion of my food was small 4. The California roll had miracle whip ... it was drenched in it. And lastly ... the worker preparing the food in the back went to the bathroom with GLOVES on and came back out with THE SAME GLOVES ON .... when we confronted the man in the front about this issue he said that he probably took the gloves off in the bathroom before doing his business ... Went solo half an hour before they close, cause most of the sushi places in Burnaby that are decent closes at 9 on a weekday. Stood by the front about 5 mins, cashier finally asked for how many. I said for one, she gave me a look? Sat down, know what I want, waited 5 mins, I finally had to flag someone to take my order, cause everyone was just being so busy. Got my sashimi and salmon avocado roll super quick. Size were relatively smaller than Nao, Sushi Town, or Sushi California. Oh and they don't have low sodium soy sauce for health junkies. The roll were made sloppy, and the nigiri were almost Tokyo size. Taste, I'll give it 3.5/5, ok to good as expected, but everything did taste fresh. So mid way thru my meal, the table beside mine was getting cleaned by a server. I don't even know if she noticed she was wiping the dirty table so hard, scraps of food were flying into my food and hitting my leg. I didn't bother. The miso was exceptionally good when I visited, a nice break from the watery poor miso a lot of places serve. Finally opened so I wanted to try it out. Super busy place, parking lot is small and shaped oddly. Try for street parking first before going to their actual parking lot. Same menu as the other location. Nice modern decor. It was really busy so I opted for take out instead. I know I'll be back soon. Food is good, big pieces of sushi and sashimi, and great value. This place has the same wonderful sushi as the other locations with one difference: the rolls are made with care and they don't look like they've been mangled/manhandled! The seafood salad is one of my go-tos as I LOVE the salad dressing. I get the Alaska roll for the same reason. I tried the tobiko with quail egg nigiri because it looked so pretty but I didn't enjoy it because I'm not a huge fan on tobiko to begin with. Not sure what I was thinking. This location has a wider and more spacious feel but it is quite chilly in the restaurant so make sure you layer up a bit! read more

Our go-to items here are the Alaska roll, salmon and toro nigiri and the California roll. Their Alaska rolls are unlike what you would find elsewhere. It is an avocado roll with a slice of salmon on top and finished with a dressing. You have to try it to fully appreciate what I'm talking about, but you won't go wrong with it. Furthermore, their nigiri are large compared to other places. Their salmon nigiri is excellent, as is their toro - but be aware that their toro is not always available. I think they're truly that popular because the toro just melts in your mouth. Seeing their turnover here, I would believe their fish is very fresh. This place is typically busy at night, but especially on weekend nights. Make sure you come early if you want to avoid the wait, or just go with the takeout route. They are usually very good at abiding to pick-up times. read more

This is the newer of the all the branches as it opened summer of 2017. The typical Junk Food sushi. Fast service of making the sushi, but the amount of service hasn't changed much. Not expecting anything more because you get used to it by now. Come here for your regular Alaska Rolls, and Spicy Salmon/Tuna sashimi. These are the typical things I order at Garden Sushi, and I sometimes get the sashimi here because they are large chunks for a good price. Always come here for a good sushi fix. read more

One of our favourite sushi spots in Vancouver - the place is always packed with students and families, but service is quick and you generally don't have to wait too long for a table. On our most recent visit we saw 10-20 people waiting for a table and were a bit worried, but managed to be seated after a quick 5-10 minute wait. The food comes out blazingly fast (less than 5 minutes after ordering)! The rolls/nigiri here are super cheap (especially compared to downtown places), and at least for my favourite things to order (chopped scallop/uni/toro nigiri, negitoro roll) they give you large portions for the price and are super tasty! Especially compared to sushi joints that you might find in other parts of Canada (i.e., Toronto), the prices are amazing and the portions are huge. Sushi Garden's Burnaby Highgate location was our go to place for an early-dinner the other day. We (daughter and I) arrived at the restaurant shortly 3:30 pm, and were able to find a parking spot in their convenient adjacent lot. Some impressions upon entering and getting seated in the restaurant (first impressions, as we had never been there before) -- a nice welcome greeting, and friendly showing to one of the smaller 'for two' tables over by the large window, with view out to Kingsway -- once seated, server arrived with hot tea, filled the cool-looking mugs, and left menus -- a look about from our table, found it be be a rather good-sized restaurant, with a selection of various sized tables, shiny-clean and tidy, 'warm' dark colours, a rather nice ambiance. What was ordered: all dishes brought from kitchen-to-table with rather good looking presentations: - Starters: spicy agedashi tofu (fried tofu, spicy sauce, garnishes of fish flakes, green onion), and tako yaki (octopus ball, with sauce, garnishes). - Sashimi: assorted sashimi (salmon, tuna, octopus, shrimp, surf clam, red snapper, with shredded daikon, slice of lemon, pickled ginger, and wasabi). - Noodle (Udon): yaki udon (stir fried udon noodles, with small pieces of beef and veggies - slices of mushrooms and carrot, pieces of green cabbage). The food preparations varied - the starters were disappointing, the sashimi and udon noodle dishes were rather good. The tofu cubes were overcooked - outsides quite tough and dry, insides lacking a nice, smooth and creamy texture, decent spicy sauce though. Each octopus ball had the smallest piece of octopus I have ever seen in such a preparation, the ball itself (covering, filling, and sauce), quite tasty, but to me, had a somewhat unusual flavour, and salty overall taste, compared to most preparations of this dish I have tried and enjoyed elsewhere. The sashimi was nicely prepared, and tasted as good as it looked, and that included the garnishes as well. The udon noodle preparation was also well-prepared, very flavourful and tasty (with a nice 'smokey-like' flavour) - I thought the dish was quite small in portion size though, and certainly did not include many different veggies (primarily just a few slices of mushroom and cabbage). The hot tea was weak and bland, but warm. Service was fine - friendly, and as attentive as it needed to be . Overall, our total dining experience at Sushi Garden was a solid 'ok'. read more

Very nice new place compared to the original sushi garden by Metrotown, There's a very cramped waiting area but service is very prompt and fast. Make sure you arrive with your entire party though, they won't hold tables for you otherwise. My only gripe? Is their Teriyaki chicken roll? it's incredibly dry and horribly disappointing. Aright sushi garden! Party of 3 came here on a Saturday night for a birthday. We had actually bright a cake as a surprise but unfortunately no outside food allowed.... While I absolutely respect that I means it's a bday cake it's not like we r bringing in steak and lobster. We orders 2 salads extra sauce and about 5 rolls - 1 house 2 eel a spider and tuna roll along with 2 orders or sashimi. I do have to say that the salad totally lives up to the rep - the house sauce is amazing. A little tangy but great and totally got some for take out. The rolls are pretty average. Nothing special here, it's not bad but no wow factor. Where they lose points is service. Probably one of the worst since coming to van. I asked for help to take a dinner photo and no responses given.
