I am saddened that I have to leave a negative review, but was appalled at the treatment that I received at this establishment today upon ordering lunch. I wish I could give it less stars. I ordered for an office of 3. Upon placing my order for just 2 people, I tried calling back, but was surprised that I could not get through. I went down to pick up my order, and add to what I had already ordered. I told the man working behind the counter that I tried calling to add on our Dr.s order to what was already placed. His response was that " he unplugged the phone". He then proceeded to ask me where I was ordering from upon which I told him a Drs. Office of 3. I was dumbfounded whe he replied "Never order here again, we are to busy to accomodate you." He continued to state that another office ordered every Thursday from this establishment, and he told them that they could not any longer due to accomodation.Upon placing my order for our Dr he stated that I would have to wait 30-40 mins, which I was fine with. While I was sitting waiting for our food to be done I heard him complaining to a customer about how he wanted to close down the restraunt because it was to busy??? Heres an idea, Maybe hire more line cooks and employees? Unfortunately I will never be returning here, and I suggest other offices (of 3 or more) should take there business elsewhere to avoid the scrutiny and absolute terrible customer service. This is a great great sushi place! Very fast and you can be in and out of the place, as it is not an actual restaurant. Their jalapeño appetizer is definitely something everyone must try at least once. This has become my new favorite sushi place, it is better than decent! Especially in this small town. They did not receive 5 stars only because when they get slammed, they get slammed. Wait is somewhere between 30 minutes to an hour, which a is a little excessive so hopefully they hire more help! read more

I love Sushi J Express! I go there every month or two to get my sushi fix. The staff is very friendly, the sushi is AMAZING and you can't beat the affordable prices! You can pick up an order to take home or you can sit and enjoy your sushi at the indoor tables. The menu coves all of my favorite traditional sushi rolls and there is a nice variety of other traditional Japanese dishes and soups. I've had sushi in Hawaii, San Diego and Seattle and Sushi J Express is up there with the best They're located in the Safeway shopping center on Highway 69 so they're very easy to find and to get to. Plus, they are the ONLY Sushi restaurant in the Prescott area to be open all day! Give them a try, you won't regret it! read more

I've never had a bad experience. The sushi is always delicious, fresh, and satisfying! It may be small inside but the service you get is unbeatable. The owners are incredibly nice and genuine people. My favorite little sushi place in town. There isn't much seating but it is excellent take out. It is a husband and wife team who make excellent sushi rolls. Most of their rolls are standard so you know that you are getting but they also will take request to change things up. My favorites are the double shrimp roll and the spider roll but you can't go wrong with a rainbow roll or their sushi Mari plate. read more

Great food! Nice people! The best chicken teriyaki I have ever had! Ginger is an added bonus so sweet and complements the dishes. The presentation is superb! From chicago so that is saying a lot! My family loves the sushi here! Take out is an added bonus. J sushi is very clean and treats it's customers with respect! The quality of food and service you expect from a dine in restaurant! I recently took a trip to Japan and ate the best sushi of my life and I have eaten a ton of sushi from many many places and Sushi J express is the closest I've found to Japan and by far the best sushi in the United States. A personal favorite in Prescott Valley/ Prescott! Their food is amazing! It's a small restaurant, family run. Since they're small, evenings can get crazy and they don't alway have the capacity to take all of the orders they get. This means that if you order during a rush or too late in the evening, your order might be cancelled or you might not be able to place an order( peak of lunch and dinner times). We have gone here 3 times now.. the first two times they were closed during hours they were supposed to be open. The third time we went, it was 10 minutes til 5(they closed at 8), when we walked in the door the cook behind the counter yelled to us "we aren't cooking anymore, we have two hours of work!" Amazing food! Addicting to say the least. Have tried all the Sushi restaurants in the Prescott/PV area and these guys raise the barb to the highest level possible. Miso soup is exquisite the only place I know that actually adds bits of Wakame to their Miso Soup. Their Nigiri is so fresh and when you bite into it you don't bite down on a mass of compacted rice with a little fish instead you bite down on a delicate piece of formed rice with a right amount of fish or eel layered on top. Their California rolls are so addicting it leaves you licking the to go container and fighting everyone for the rights to that last piece of crunchy roll. So I am a big sushi fan and drove past this place a couple times before actually checking it out. It's located in the same area as the Safeway grocerry store in Prescott Valley right next to the Little Ceasars. It's a tiny litle place and easy to miss. All I have to say is don't judge this place by it's outward appearence. The owners are super friendly, and the sushi is great. The inside while small & not very decorative, is very cleanly. I have had the Avocado Roll, Tuna Roll, Spicy Tuna roll, Caterpiller Roll, & the Alaska Roll. The lady that makes the sushi really knows what she's doing. All of the rolls I've had so far have been delicious. I haven't tried any of the other food here but some of it looks pretty good. They also have daily specials. I highly recommend any fan of Japanese Cuisine to check this place out. I normally go here at least weekly to get my sushi fix. read more

We popped in here on our way through town, based on the good reviews given by other Yelpers. Have to say we were pretty impressed with the quality of the sushi and cooked dishes being done by this tiny place in a strip mall in the high desert. It is tiny...2 tables, no alcohol, counter service...a lot of people came in for take out instead. The friendly owners greeted all of them like they have a ton of repeat customers. The cooked items were very tasty. The sushi was good and tasted as fresh as we can expect outside of major cities, the only complaint being that the sushi rice was not sticky enough to fully hold together...every time we picked up a piece of nigiri half the rice ball fell off. Nevertheless, we thought it was worth four stars in the counter service (e.g., no frills) dining scale. Will visit again next time through PV. read more

Excellent! Little hole in the wall with just two tables, but a nice variety of authentic Japanese dishes and a range of exotic sodas too. The chicken katsu was great! My only suggestion would be to have cups with ice available for the soda. Great place and will definitely come back! read more

Very small spot with only two tables, but i was not planning on taking it to go. The only reason for the 4/5 star was because I had to eels in my car, since both tables were seated with customers. Very fresh and clean. I love sushi and am pretty critical of it, so I will definiteLy be back to try another roll! Had the Poke Roll today and it was great! read more

best sushi have had in Prescott area. my wife and i shared the combo platter (i believe that is what it was called) which is a sample of various sushi they have to offer. all was great but the stand out was the eel. that was the best i have ever had. nice a crispy texture to the eel and the flavored just popped compared to other places. the staff was awesome which i think is a must have for a small place like this. they had a soup we tried (cant remember the name but it was 1.50 for a cup and was soy based) was pretty good and even the dessert we tried was better than it sounded. ( the red bean cake). i really think with a better location and trendy-er atmosphere( and better economy) , this place would be none stop busy. read more

I have to say that I have never written a review before on this establishment. In the past we have had great food and great service but this time around was the total opposite. I ordered the spider roll ( soft shell crab) which I've ordered before, but this time the shells were really hard like I was chewing on those little pieces of green paper they use to separate stuff. At first I thought that's what it was but it wasn't. I called back to inquire about the toughness and was told to chew harder. Under the insistance if my wife I called back to push the issue. I was told to bring the food back and that I was the only one who had ever complained. So I did. But I was greeted with hostility and put on a "do not answer" list. What kind of customer service is that?! There were other customers in the store and I thought I was being pretty calm about the whole thing but the owner seemed to take great offence and tell me that in the 8 years that he had been in business I was the only one to complain. He couldn't put the charges back on our card but did refund the spider roll but not the lava roll that I didn't really get to eat. He asked me if I wanted it but I was too pissed to take it. I will never go back to this establishment, ever. There are better sushi places within driving distance of Prescott. read more

At first we were a little worried because we didn't see any other customers there and the place seemed a little "fast foodish." However, we were pleasantly surprised at the freshness and quality of the food. We ordered a variety of rolls and appetizers as well as the tempura vegetables. Everything was absolutely amazing. Probably the worst sushi I've ever had. Not sure why this place gets so many good reviews to be 100% honest.. The only roll that I got that was decent was the shrimp tempura roll. The California roll and spicy crab roll were all super low quality, and I'm pretty sure the crab was artificial. Every roll was loose and fell apart when trying to pick them up. I have never had better sushi/authentic Japanese food. I love their crunchy roll, I was leery of it as it has Eel sauce on it and I was worried I would not enjoy it, but after some talking with the owner and through his reassurance as to the tastiness of it I gave it a try and I love it! Also the good folks here are willing to work with you on substituting one ingredient for something else, as I don't like avocado and they had no problem switching it out for cucumber or cream cheese. If you don't have the money for tepanyaki, yet have a taste for Japanese cuisine I highly recommend hitting this restaurant up. It's well worth the visit. I will not go back to buying from Fry's or anywhere in the area. The staff are friendly and willing to serve. I can not recommend this place enough. read more

Having had quite a variety of Japanese cuisine this place has very good sushi. I love the sushi here and the location is awesome for me ( just right around the corner from my house ). I often order the Vegas roll which isn't exactly on the menu but they always make it and it's the best Vegas roll I've ever had. I stopped by here on my last visit to Prescott Valley and I would eat here again. Definitely not the worst sushi I've had but in fairness, also not the best. But given that this place is far away from the ocean, I really enjoyed the sushi that was prepared. Justin and his wife are a very nice, friendly couple. While I was there, several repeat customers came in obviously liking the food. For me, the spicy tuna roll was good and the sushi assortment plate was pretty good. I enjoyed the miso soup as well. I thought the prices were fair and i would definitely come back on my next visit to the area. read more
